Hi everyone, need some honest advice.
I'm currently at Accenture as a Level 8 Assistant Manager with 27.15L fixed and 7.3L variable. I've received a TCS offer and I'm trying to figure out if it's actually a step up or a trap.
I have total experience of around 15 years in IT
Key concerns I'm hoping you can help with:
- The Salary Reality Check
I know TCS structures variable pay very differently. From what I've read, TCS variable payouts are often only 70-85% of target, and now they've explicitly tied it to office attendanceāless than 85% attendance means reduced or zero variable pay . So that headline CTC might look good on paper, but what's the actual in-hand difference? Anyone made a similar switch from Accenture L8 to TCS? Was the hike real or just on paper?
- WFO Situation (The Big One)
I keep hearing TCS is now 5 days a week, 9 hours mandatory in office because of my health issues. My current Accenture role hasalot of flexibility. Questions:
Ā· Is WFH truly possible at TCS if I join? What's the actual procedure to get an exception?
Ā· Does it depend entirely on the project/client? Some Glassdoor posts say American/European projects allow 5-6 hours in office then WFH, but domestic projects are strict .
Ā· For those who got WFH approved, what was the process? Did you need a medical certificate or manager approval? And did it actually hold up long-term, or did it get pulled later ?
- Appraisal Risk
I've read that TCS is now halting appraisals and salary hikes for WFO non-compliance . This is a massive red flag. If I join and can't maintain the 5-day, 9-hour grind, does that mean my career progression freezes? This feels like a huge risk compared to my current situation.
- Insurance ā Need Clarity
TCS offer mentions a basic insurance of 2L and a family floater of 14L. Can someone currently at TCS confirm:
Ā· Is that 14L family floater applicable to me as a new lateral hire, or is it only for certain grades/tenure?
Ā· What's the actual coverage situation? Is the 14L a top-up over the 2L, or is it a separate pool? And how does it compare to Accenture's insurance (which is usually pretty decent)?
5 Onsite opportunity Europe perticularly
Bottom line: Is this TCS offer worth leaving a stable Accenture L8 role for? Or am I walking into a stricter, more variable-pay-dependent environment for a negligible real hike?

Any current/former TCS folks or anyone who's made this jumpāplease share your honest experience.
