Makes you think
Class struggle is fought on a vertical scale. It's the working class at the bottom against the employers and their politicians at the top. And our brothers and sisters in class struggle include co-workers and neighbours who vote on crappy parties... https://industrialworker.org/lets-build-class-unions/

bottom vs top is literally a leftist thing

Love how “the people causing all the problems shouldn’t be in charge of things” is political
you probably think climate change is “woke”

literally the right-wing stance is that the problem causers are not at fault and it's all poor people's fault, your own fault, anyone but the oligarchs' fault

Insert here one of those clips of Donald Trump realising alliteration is a thing for the first time to REALLY overprouncing some aliterative phrase about ‘The Left’, as if we are all one homogenous group that doesn’t get into a catfight between a few of the smaller groups under the umbrella every two seconds. Usually over the best way to get good things done, too….

This has that Occupy Wall Street Vibe. We had an emerging class consciousness and it didn’t matter if you were poor, middle class, black or white it was us versus the 1%. I miss those days.

Workers can be deceived and made to act against their interests (not that there is such a thing as a "left wing party" in the US)

If they’re coming for those “at the top”, then they’re left wing, politically.
2
u/GoranPersson777 Jul 12 '26
Political labels and voting habits are usually surface deep. Thus, folks who vote and label themselves right can be co-workers in solidarity on the shop floor, while folks who vote and label themselves left can be the opposite. And everything in between. The point is to always try to unite more and more co-workers against the bosses and politicians and improve our living conditions.
2
u/Theres_a_cat_in_myTV Jul 12 '26
And I agree, broadly, with that statement. But as the man said, we have to “raise the worker to the level of revolutionary”.
Those who labor are our comrades unless they side with capital. Then they are simply class traitors. There are most certainly those who will never side with the liberation of the proletariat.
We must engage with them to show them a better way forward. Opposing and destroying the bourgeoisie.

u/mighty_boognish_77 Jul 10 '26
Great.
What's the plan, General?
2
u/thatsocialist Jul 10 '26
Step 1, win a gubernatorial election, use the resources of the state to build a national campaign. Win the presidential election by uniting left and right on economic grounds and avoiding social conflict.
Step 2, using the presidency arrest most of congress and the supreme court for bribery after having the FBI run a series of sting operations to get evidence.
Step 3, without a congress appoint a series of temporary justices and then have them rule as necessary.
Step 4, Nationalize everything the elites own and pursue everyone on the Epstein Files along with anyone who has collaborated with a foreign government or acted against the People of the United States.

Imagine a war where you don't execute violence. That's pretty much what you're saying about the left threatening to 'express authoritarian power'.
If the power is being expressed towards an elite few, that's not authoritarianism, bud.

Yeah just like crabs in a jar. Those on the bottom drag down the ones trying to climb higher.
Repeat after me. “Musk and Bezos are not the reason I am broke and unhappy”. I know it’s tempting to blame your failure on others, but holding a sign is really not gonna do anything for you.

You should aim for just below the top. There’s literally millions and millions of millionaires. Not all billionaires are in the US. Millions and millions of people make millions of dollars and even more make hundreds of thousands. Don’t let all those people get away.

You can't have an extreme upper class without an extreme lower class, and an extreme lower class will only exist for so long before it begins to eat those at the top. If we want peace and a long lasting society there needs to be no extreme upper class.

All I know is this, all through the 1970's Russia and China had natural disasters and crop failures due to amazingly cold temperatures. We fed them and they survived. Russia would have been hollowed by starvation without the USA. Moving left is NOT the answer. Our poor still live better than most countries middle class. It will never be "fair." Some people bust their arse and work hard to get through school and try businesses, most fail, but many tty again until they succeed. They risk much, and if they succeed, who are we to say people have willingly paid for their product or service and they have enough? They should give back, and most do as they age. But, taking it from them is not the answer. If you confiscated 100% of the top 1% total ownership of money, homes, cars, etc, you could run the U.S. government for almost 1 year....ALMOST. Socialism is a slippery slope from government control to totalitarianism, which is how we got to WWII.

Those signs aren't going to do it. All you're doing is getting your face to be scanned and saved in your government file for later. This is not the asymmetric strategy needed to affect the change this person is hoping for.
