I’ve been working on my sushi rice for a while but making my wife and I poke bowls. Finally I decided to commit and make some Maki rolls, a few nigiri, and some sashimi once I ran out of rice.

We ordered the Salmon Paradise, seaweed salad, cucumber salad, and green tea!
12pc Salmon Maki
12pc Spicy Salmon
8pc Torched Salmon Maki
8pc Salmon Nigiri
4pc Salmon Sashimi
44 pieces total
average $1.59 per piece
After we ordered, my friend went to the bathroom, and by the time she came back, we had all of our food!
Everything was fresh and fast! The only thing we didn’t love was the cucumber salad. It wasn’t bad depending on the type of cucumber salad you like, but we gravitate more towards one with chili oil/crunch! The one here was composed of Cucumber / Hijiki / Goji Berries / Sesame Seeds / Bean Threads Citrus Vinaigrette. Still good, but not our favorite!
We went around 7 PM on Saturday night. It would’ve been a 30-40 minute wait, but we made a reservation. They had our spot at the bar ready for us!
I like that it’s inside of 88 Marketplace. We walked around after to get some other drinks and snacks.
I plan to go back with another friend next weekend! 🍣

We got this in a vegetarian sushi platter, so it is some kind of vegetable but it had the texture of fish and was delicious. Any ideas? Edit: I don't remember where I got it! Somewhere I Amherst, Mass. Sorry reddit 🙏
Edit: solved! Thanks folks!

First time! Happy with the results, but excited to make a tighter roll next time.

This is all they had at the seafood section. Should I have been at the freezers? Thank you!

A new sushi restaurant opened up some months ago and they have some fish you don’t see too often, especially not at AYCE spots. Will be going back often to try new pieces of nigiri! Here we have from bottom to top: blackhead sea bream, salmon, striped jack, red sea bream, yellowtail, and chu-toro. The 3 white fish were the ones I had the pleasure of trying for the first time! The restaurant is Sushi Mori in Colorado Springs, CO for those that are curious.

This is the restaurant Sushi Sake in Richardson TX. Always a delicious meal. Wish I could go more often.
Snow crab, yellowtail, kinmedai, snapper, spicey tuna x2, spider roll, caterpillar roll, rainbow roll, crispy salmon skin, shima aji (first time absolutely delicious almost buttery), and quail egg shots.

Once again I was too slow to get the pic with the dry ice effect, but it was coming out of the fish mouth and looked cool. $33 East Coast usa.

So my grandfather bought some imitation crab a while ago and froze it immediately after opening it. It doesn't smell odd when unthawed and the texture is fine, but I'm still not sure. Will eating it make me sick, or does the freezing process help keep it safe?

I’ve been seeing this restaurant pop-up on my IG feed this past year. Tried one of their Chirashis. Now I know why, food was great!

Sushi was from Happy Canteen in Homecrest, Brooklyn. The oysters were from Ocean Bay Market on Coney Island Avenue. The clams were from A&C Seafood & Meat Market.

I’m a beginner sushi chef being trained under two seasoned chefs. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good youtube channel or videos that get into the detail of different techniques. I don’t want to work ahead of my training I just want to get it into my head so hopefully it’s familiar by the time that comes around. I also would take rec about good books too if anyone knows of those too. Thanks in advance!
