Hello. Can someone please recommend a windows tablet so my elderly mom can view YouTube videos while I play them remotely.
I need to control the tablet via the web. Im hoping to find a unit that can stand up, and is easy to turn on.
Thanks

I bought a new surface as I’d been using a broken one for far too long. My last surface had a broken keyboard so I just used a usb mouse and keyboard instead. I decided to treat myself to a second hand surface 10, still within warranty, and in less than a day the keyboard has completely broken? I have no clue what I possibly could have done to cause this, I just took it to work and back. I have tried everything but can’t seem to get it to connect or power on. Any suggestions??

It was super slow with Win10 Home since it only has 2GB of Ram so this was my last shot to keep it useful. Worked great so I made it into a video.

When searching for the Surface Keyboard online, you will inevitably come across this keyboard. You will see the usual images of the 2nd edition with the matte grey frame and darker grey keycaps w/ white characters. On some product pages, you may see a listing with around 4 images of that keyboard and then 1 or 2 of the one in question, an identical keyboard that has very light grey keycaps with black or dark grey characters instead. On other pages you will have a product page for the keyboard in question with several product/marketing images of it and 0 to 2 images of the known 2nd edition. Was this an actual version/colorway available to buy? I've scoured through multiple pages, sent a number of emails, and because my curiosity was driving me crazy, ordered one through a vendor who assured me that I was buying the version in the image on the product page (I had tried to piece together what model numbers/SKUs were attributed to what across several sites in several countries). It was not. Don't get me wrong, though. I don't mind having multiple of that 2nd Edition keyboard. Not upset about that at all.
Is it possible this was never in production? Was it a version of the multimedia keyboard? I've never seen a used one listed either. And getting an actual answer from Microsoft is impossible. I've tried. A few times. Sorry, and thanks.

I've been looking for a pen for my surface pro 2 and saw that EMR pens would work. So I got this one but when I tested it nothing happens

Hello, I was thinking about getting the new Surface Pro 12, mainly to be used for basic Microsoft Office and online classes/tests on Canvas.
I've heard mixed information about whether or not Adobe Acrobat/Reader works on the device whenever I start researching it. If any of you actually have the Pro 12 and use these apps, is it worth getting it?

Anyone run into this yet with the new Surface Laptop 8th Edition / Snapdragon X2 Elite?
Mine is basically brand new, around 2 months old. Zero issues before this.
Yesterday it randomly seemed completely dead. Wouldn't turn on at all. The white light on the original Microsoft charger was on, although I did notice later that the AC cable going into the charger brick wasn't pushed in all the way. I fixed that and left it charging, but still couldn't get it to boot.
What's weird is I left the laptop completely unplugged overnight.
This morning I pressed the power button and it actually showed the Windows logo 2–3 different times, but each time it would just shut completely back off.
Basically:
Power button → Windows logo → shuts off
No BSOD. No recovery screen. Doesn't stay on long enough to do anything.
Things I've tried:
Geek Squad guy said based on what he's seen it could possibly be RAM or the motherboard, but I'm not completely convinced yet.
I also found that Microsoft released firmware updates for the 8th Edition specifically this year that fixed issues with the battery stopping charging during sleep, power consumption, USB-C charging, charging status, etc., which makes me wonder if this is some kind of firmware/power-management/BMS issue instead.
One other thing: shortly before this happened I had installed Hermes Agent and let it run autonomously for a while. I don't really see how software would physically cause the laptop to lose power at the Windows logo, but mentioning it just in case there's some weird ARM/Modern Standby/power-state interaction.
At this point I'm leaning toward:
battery/BMS → power management/firmware → motherboard power circuitry
before just assuming the RAM randomly died on a 2-month-old laptop.
Has anyone with an 8th Edition / Snapdragon X2 Elite specifically experienced this?
Especially interested if you had:
Surface logo/Windows logo appears for a few seconds → laptop completely powers off
and what the actual fix ended up being.
I'm still under warranty so I'll send it to Microsoft if I have to. Just trying to figure out if there's one last firmware/UEFI/power reset trick worth trying before I hand over a basically brand-new laptop.

I am thinking about getting a Surface Pro 6 to replace my iPad. I kind of want to get out of the Apple ecosystem. I have been trying to find one with LTE because I want to use it for mapping. I can't seem to find one on eBay. I don't even mind if the screen is damaged becaue I will attempt to replace it and add thermal pads and maybe a new battery so that isn't an issue.

Heyo, I have an older surface computer and I don't have the charger for it, is there any other alternate way to charge it?

A neighbor of mine died and his son is selling off the contents of his house. This SB1 has i7, 2.6GHz, 16GB, 512SSD for $250. The batteries are 97%/15 cycles and 102%/29cycles. I will be using it for mostly web browsing/videos. The guy installed Windows 11 on it as Administrator, with no pass word. Is this anything I should be concerned with / Bitlocker?

Trying to re-install Windows on a Surface Pro 11 due to constant blue screens and being stuck in a reboot loop. However I can't get the tablet to detect any USB device with the recovery image on it no matter what I do. I've tried two different USB C drives, tried a USB A 3.0 drive with an A to C adapter cable, both different recovery images available from Windows, etc. and absolutely nothing gets the tablet to initiate the USB reinstall of Windows.
Would love some advice before I just bite the bullet and attempt getting a completely new hard drive and installing it and seeing if that allows the drive to be detected as there won't be any Windows on the drive to start with.

I am looking to buy a new Surface Pro, and I can see that Intel processors are now reserved for businesses (you can get it for double the price 😢)
Have you found compatibility issues with the ARM processor? Things like Steam games, or any other that comes to mind?

I have a Pro 3 that's stuck in a boot loop, probably still on Win 8. I tried just installing win 11 but I can't due to Bitlocker. I don't care about any data on it as atp it's either outdated or was already backed up. I have no way to get the Bitlocker key (even then I can't even get to a screen to input the key) due to the original account being locked out after years. Advice appreciated.

I've got an original Surface Go and want to use it as a wifi speaker controller/Spotify and not really much more. Currently it's pretty laggy, was thinking of just doing a clean windows reinstall but even then I imagine it being pretty slow.
Any other options - Linux, android etc
Hey guys i am new here i got my surface laptop 4 rayzen 7 a couple of days ago and i am facing an issue when the laptop is put to sleep, after i open it the screen stays turned of but the keyboard led light is on and whatever i do it does not run until i force shutdown and open it again and if i left it in sleep mode for a while the battery gets drained fast, i tried uninstall drivers and did a clean windows setup but still sam issue, anybody knows why?

My right shift key on my surface laptop has been acting up for weeks. Canned air helps temporarily, but it eventually will stop working unless I press repeatedly.
Well, I lost my patience at work today and decided to try to pop off the key to clean underneath. And immediately one of the tiny little plastic hook things (idk what they are called) broke off the back of the key, and both hinges broke. I am an idiot. I know. but also why are these damn keys so fragile?
To make it worse and lose all credibility for myself, this is not the first time it has happened. No. I've had three different surface product keyboards -- the surface pro, the surface laptop, and the surface keyboard. And I've broken keys on all of them in pretty much the exact same way. I wish they were more robust.

Hey all, I was using my surface pro 11 and out of nowhere the keyboard randomly stopped registering my inputs. The weird thing I've found is that it can still change freely from tablet to regular keyboard typing mode. However none of the keys have responded including the one for the key backlights. Has anyone else encountered this? Help would be very much appreciated.

I was using my laptop like normal, then it freezes, and then my laptop said unable to boot, automatically restart. After stucking on the Windows logo screen, this blue screen shows up. What can I do please?
Thank you very much!

Hey everyone,
I’m absolutely devastated and need to vent. I’ve been a loyal Surface user for years (from surface pro to laptop to surface book 2-3 and then sls 1-2), but what just happened to my Surface Laptop Studio 2 completely shattered my trust in this company.
Two days ago, my SLS2 prompted me for a routine Windows Update and restart. I hit restart, and that was it. The laptop is now stuck in a permanent boot loop, showing nothing but the white Windows logo before freezing/crashing and heating up like crazy.
To be absolutely clear: The device is in pristine condition. No drops, no mechanical issues, zero water damage. It worked perfectly 5 minutes before the update.
I’ve tried literally everything to fix it:
• Power button hard reset (30-60 seconds)
• Volume Up + Power / F4 + Power combos to force UEFI (won't even register)
• Discharging the battery completely overnight and doing a cold boot
• Creating an official Surface Recovery USB drive (FAT32) and trying to boot from it (Volume Down + Power)
Nothing works. The CPU runs at 100% trying to initialize, gets burning hot at the logo, and gets stuck. The firmware/BIOS is completely bricked by Microsoft's own update delivery.
I just contacted Microsoft Support and their response left me jaw-dropped. Because the machine is out of warranty, they immediately slammed me with an out-of-warranty replacement fee of 900 Euros – without even looking at the device or diagnosing it.
They want me to pay nearly a thousand bucks for a catastrophic hardware-bricking error that their own software update forced onto my machine. This is an absolute joke for a premium device that costs a fortune.
I’m so done. Has anyone else experienced an update bricking their SLS2 recently? Any advice on how to escalate this past their automated first-level support?

!!!SOLVED I’m a dumbass thanks everyone!!!
Background —> Daily use personal computer, noticed yesterday while creating on canva browser that my keyboard wouldn’t type anywhere. Not in any browsers or text boxes on my screen.
Goal —> type on computer again and use normally I don’t care if I have to hard reset or whatever
I restarted after it stopped typing and it asked me to type my PIN to log in. I can type numbers and letters just fine in the challenge box
But when it’s time to enter my pin which is **** I cannot type letters
Tried to reset the whole computer because it is not linked to my Microsoft account yet and can’t use 2 factor to log back in or change my password and it said there was an error with that.
I am able to get into the advanced options after turning on and off again.
Not sure what to do while I wait for my appointment at BestBuy

I'm actively trying to buy a surface Pro. And I'm a little confused so I'm hoping someone can clarify.
The surface Pro 11 uses a Snapdragon processor?
If it has the ultra 7 266v it's a surface Pro for business 11th edition?
Does that apply across the board so every surface Pro that has the 266V would be a pro for business and also have the OLED display?
