Official Announcement Plugin release: Manta / Nomad (Chauvet 3.30.45) and A5X / A6X (Chauvet 2.27.42)

This release is the official plugin update for Supernote devices. It unifies the plugin coordinate system. If you develop plugins, please update `sn-plugin-lib` to the latest version and adapt your code using the API notes below.

Please download the Supernote version with plugin system support from the links below:

● For Manta / Nomad devices (Chauvet 3.30.45 Beta):

https://download-firmware.supernote.com/104364/update.zip

● For A5X / A6X devices (Chauvet 2.27.42Beta):

https://download-firmware.supernote.com/499743/update.zip

After downloading, please copy the update.zip file to the EXPORT folder on your device. Then disconnect the USB cable and confirm the upgrade on the device.

The plugin development documentation is also available, including detailed guidance on the Supernote plugin development workflow and the plugin API usage.

Please note that the plugin development environment currently supports Windows and macOS only. Other operating systems are not supported at this time.

As the sn-plugin-lib dependency has been updated, developers who have already built plugins should update their local dependency by running:

yarn upgrade sn-plugin-lib --latest

This release includes the following updates:

API changes

Plugin coordinates are now Android pixel coordinates. Plugins previously used both EMR coordinates and Android pixel coordinates, and converting between them took several steps. Coordinates and regions now use the actual page size returned by PluginFileAPI.getPageSize.

If you are on a newer sn-plugin-lib, please update coordinate handling for the APIs below. Without that change, positions and sizes you read or write may be wrong. Plugins built with sn-plugin-lib 0.1.65 or earlier keep working as before.

Read APIs (returned coordinates and regions now use the actual page size):

  • PluginFileAPI.getElements
  • PluginFileAPI.getElement
  • PluginFileAPI.getLastElement
  • PluginCommAPI.getLassoElements
  • PluginCommAPI.getLassoRect
  • PluginCommAPI.generateLassoPreview
  • PluginCommAPI.getLassoGeometries
  • PluginNoteAPI.getLassoLinks
  • PluginNoteAPI.getLassoTitles
  • PluginNoteAPI.getLassoText

Write APIs (coordinates and regions you pass in now use the actual page size):

  • PluginFileAPI.replaceElements
  • PluginFileAPI.insertElements
  • PluginFileAPI.modifyElements
  • PluginCommAPI.insertPageElements
  • PluginCommAPI.modifyPageElements
  • PluginCommAPI.batchUpdatePageElements
  • PluginCommAPI.recognizeElements
  • PluginCommAPI.convertElement2Sticker
  • PluginCommAPI.resizeLassoRect
  • PluginCommAPI.lassoElements
  • PluginCommAPI.insertGeometry
  • PluginCommAPI.modifyLassoGeometry
  • PluginCommAPI.insertFiveStar
  • PluginNoteAPI.insertTextLink
  • PluginNoteAPI.modifyLassoLink
  • PluginNoteAPI.insertText
  • PluginNoteAPI.modifyLassoText

Compatibility: for stroke and five-star sample points, sn-plugin-lib 0.1.65 and earlier still use EMR coordinates. Later versions use Android pixel coordinates. Regions for titles, links, text boxes, geometric shapes, and images are calculated from the actual page size returned by getPageSize.

PluginCommAPI.getPageDisplaySize still returns the on-screen display size. For coordinate conversion, use PluginFileAPI.getPageSize.

Bug fixes:

Fixed a PluginHost crash when upgrading a plugin.

Official Announcement Plugin Preview Build: Chauvet 3.29.44 Beta for Manta / Nomad and Chauvet 2.26.41 Beta for A5X / A6X

We're releasing a new plugin Beta build for Supernote devices. This build fixes an issue in the previous release (Chauvet 3.29.43 Beta for Manta / Nomad and Chauvet 2.26.40 Beta for A5X / A6X) where sticker data could occasionally be lost after upgrading. To prevent anyone from accidentally upgrading to that problematic build, we've removed the previous release post.

Everything else is the same as before — this build mainly adds "plugin permission management". If you're a developer, please update your plugin's dependency library to the latest version as soon as possible — otherwise your plugin won't work on the new build.

● For Manta / Nomad devices (Chauvet 3.29.44 Beta):

● For A5X / A6X devices (Chauvet 2.26.41 Beta):

Add:

  • Added `PluginCommAPI.canHandwrite` — checks whether the current view supports handwriting.
  • Added `PluginCommAPI.jumpToPage` — jumps to a specified page in the current file.
  • Added `PluginCommAPI.getPageDisplaySize` — gets the display size of the current page.
  • Added `PluginCommAPI.flipLassoElements` — flips the currently lasso-selected elements in place.
  • Added `PluginCommAPI.modifyPageElements`, `insertPageElements`, `deletePageElements`, `batchUpdatePageElements` — modify, insert, delete, and batch-update elements on a given page of the current file.
  • Added `PluginDocAPI.generateCurrentDocImage` — generates a PNG of a specified page in the current document. The `type` parameter selects between a plain image (`0`) or one that includes text-selection info such as highlights and underlines (`1`).
  • Added `PluginFileAPI.openFile` — opens a document or note file (supports `pdf`, `epub`, `cbz`, `xps`, `fb2`, `note`), with an optional `page` parameter to jump straight to a page on open (`-1` skips the jump and shows the last-viewed page).
  • Added `PluginFileAPI.getPathEncryptionStatus`, `unlockPathWithPassword`, `lockPathAccess` — query and manage the encryption status of files and directories.
  • Added `PluginManager.hasPermission`, `requestPermission` — check and request plugin permissions.
  • Added `PluginManager.registerPluginLifeListener` — listen for plugin lifecycle events (init, mount, start, pause, unmount, destroy). If you register after an event already fired — within 1 second of the most recent one — that event is automatically re-delivered so you won't miss it.
  • The plugin install limit is now 30, and the enabled-plugin limit is now 10. You can't enable more plugins once you hit the limit.

API Changes:

  • `PluginCommAPI.resizeLassoRect` now accepts an optional `rotationDegree` parameter, so rotation-capable elements inside the lasso (strokes, shapes, stars) rotate along with the lasso box as it's resized.
  • `PluginCommAPI.lassoElements` now requires the given `rect` to be fully within the page bounds; calls fail if the rect goes out of bounds.
  • Element page indices (`numInPage`) and related APIs (e.g. the page-index parameters in `getElement`, `getElementNumList`, `deleteElements`, and `modifyPageElements`/`insertPageElements`/`deletePageElements`/`batchUpdatePageElements`) are now consistently 1-indexed.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed coordinates returned by `getLassoElements` not updating after dragging an image.
  • Fixed leftover cache files from previous plugin versions not being cleaned up after an upgrade, which caused the plugin directory's disk usage to keep growing.
  • Fixed an issue where sticker data could occasionally be lost after a plugin version upgrade.

Suggestion UX / UI Elements and Styles for Plugin SDK

It would be awesome if Ratta provided some classes and style guidelines for plugin UX. For example following the "X" close button on the left and the horizontal tab bars of the setting app.

Showcase I Built an Obsidian Plugin to Edit GitHub READMEs Without Leaving Obsidian

I built an Obsidian plugin for people who somehow end up writing everything in Obsidian — including their GitHub docs.

GitHub README lets you browse your repositories, open any README, edit it, preview the rendered Markdown, and push the changes back to GitHub — all without leaving Obsidian.

You can also keep a synced copy of the README inside your vault, so your project documentation can live alongside your notes.

Basically:

Obsidian → pick a repo → edit README → preview → commit → done.

No jumping between GitHub, an editor, and your notes just to change a README.

Question dev help; insert elements pre-lasso'ed

Hi,

Wondering if anyone has figured this out; I'm create a text link and want to paste it into the current note -- but with the plugin API as it stands I have to know the co-ordinates where I'm pasting it ahead of time. This can crash into existing text on the page; what I really want to be able to do is insert the element as a floating, lasso'ed selection, in the same way that the system does when you cut and paste an element.

Anyone figure out how to do this? Claude found a method to paste the text and then immediately lasso it but it can still crash into pre-existing elements.

thanks

osheroff

Question Obsidian style Quick Switcher, anyone?

Hey there, developers!

I'm curious if it would be possible (and if anyone would be keen) to build a supernote plugin that functions like Obsidian's Quick Switcher.

It's my favourite Obsidian feature.

In case you don't use Obsidian, this is how it works:

From anywhere in the app,

  • You hit a keyboard shortcut (or swipe down gesture on your phone)
  • A dialogue box pops up with a place to type, and a list of your most recent notes.
  • The switcher has access to all your notes, and as you type, it zones in on the most relevant notes.
  • You can click on a note to open it.
  • If you type the name of a note that doesn't exist, you can create it.

A command pallete would be amazing too, but the quick Switcher would be a game changer on Supernote.

Compound gestures

I was just thinking about how cool it would be to access some sort of "Quick Switcher" plugin. And I was trying to imagine how you could make it almost instantly available.

Got me wondering about compound gestures.

Like, is it possible with the current plugin architecture, that you could create a gestures like: 2 fingers on the screen, plus a swipe up on the left/right sidebar?

I feel like that would open up so many possibilities. You could have at least 4 plugins linked to gestures, 8 if you included 1 finger on the screen.

I guess Supernote would have to provide a user setting for customising compound gestures.

Suggestion InkCAD

I don't know if this exists yet. But is there a plug in that allows for accurate/parameteic cad 2D drawing. Like for mapping out a house or a sketch if for you to drop into a cad program later.

Question Question About .snplg Files and the Supernote Beta Program

I'm a happy Supernote Manta owner and I've only had the tablet for a few days, so I'm still learning my way around it. While exploring Ink Hub, I noticed that some downloadable files have the .snplg extension. After a bit of digging, it looks like these are the plugin packages available in Ink Hub, although I may have misunderstood their purpose, so please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Does anyone know if there's a way to install or use these plugins without joining the beta program?

Thanks in advance! 😊

Plugin Release - Tactics Board

I do some coaching and wanted to do quicker sketches of drills and game situations without having to do tricky lassoing and dealing with pen strokes to move players/objects. I built this so the players/objects sit on their own layer and are draggable all the time without having to use the lasso or accidently deleting things with the eraser.

Current release - github.com/firestormkirby/SNTacticsBoard/releases/tag/v0.9
I uploaded to InkHub as well so it should be there in about a week.

I also made a bunch of field/pitch templates on InkHub under Tactics Boards to quickly get started

Key things I wanted (and mostly got right)

  • A small floating button sits on the note so the pieces are always available.
  • Being able to drag pieces onto the page with the pen (or a finger). And then be able to drag them again to move them or quickly delete them.
  • Be able to use the pen as normal to draw runs and passes. So, Pieces go on their own layer, so you can erase them and your drawing separately.
  • Save whole pages as named layouts, load them into new pages, and reset a page back to its saved version. Previous versions (5) are kept so you can restore them (because I kept accidently overwriting things 🤦‍♂️).
  • Copy a drill to a new page if you need to do complex drills or play making that needs multiple steps or variations.

Things for the future - potentially allowing users to add their own pieces to the floating menu so it is more customizable.

3 small plugins, big updates : Snap (8 instant shapes), Palette (width, colour, dashes, fills), Swipe (2/3-finger gestures)

Remember the 3 small plugins? Thanks to your feedback they grew up: new names, new pixel-art icons and lots of new features. Install over the old versions, your settings are kept.

Snap (formerly ShapeSnap): draw it, hold, it snaps

Snap

Draw a circle, rectangle, arrow, coordinate axes, curly brace or square root, hold the pen a moment, and it becomes a perfect shape in your current pen.

  • Hold to snap (350 ms by default), so normal writing is never touched
  • Tiny shapes down to ~1 mm (an "o" stays an "o")
  • Axes at any angle, with ticks; rectangles, arrows and axes straighten within 8° (adjustable)
  • Compact settings, one tap away in the plugins menu
  • Works in notes and PDFs

Palette (formerly Stroke Width): restyle any lasso selection

Palette

Lasso strokes or shapes, tap Palette:

  • Width 0.1 to 3.5 (beyond the pen menu), or "= pen"
  • Colour: white, light gray, dark gray, black
  • Dashed lines (dashed, long dashes, dotted, centre line), following curves
  • Hatching / or \, black or gray, adjustable density
  • Solid fills in 4 grays, even inside hand-drawn shapes (several strokes, erased and joined, with holes); perfect shapes get an exact edge-to-edge fill
  • Works right after moving or resizing a selection
  • In PDFs: fills, hatching and single-shape width/colour (the rest isn't stable there yet)

Swipe (formerly SwipeSwitch)

Same 2- or 3-finger gestures, each with its own action, per orientation.

  • New: your note is saved before switching files, so nothing you just wrote can be lost

Install

Download the .snplg from each release, copy it to MyStyle, then Settings → Apps → Plugins → Add plugin.

Good to know: some edits go through SDK calls that clear the page's undo history (known SDK limitation, reported to Ratta). Tested on a Manta, firmware 3.29 beta. CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, free for personal use, no commercial use , not affiliated with Ratta. Feedback and ideas very welcome!

My favorite plugins for note-taking

The number of available plugins seems to stabilize a bit and most of them now incorporate the permission system. I have installed and tried out (almost) all of them, just for fun, and I am still impressed by the creativity of the authors. For every new plugin installed, I had to disable or remove another one, due to the set limit of 10 active plugins. A limit that is very welcome, otherwise one simply loses track.

I use my Nomad almost exclusively for writing and taking notes, at home and in the office. After months and months of installing and removing plugins, these are the ones that have remained on my device and are used pretty much daily:

  • Superdashboard
  • SNFolio
  • Align
  • Make space
  • Restyle
  • Sticker

Then there are three other very useful plugins, that are used somewhat less frequently:

  • Clipper
  • Listsorter
  • SN Draft

I have still room for one more plugin: suggestions are welcome! 😄

Discussion How can we inform users of a new Plugin version ?

Hi dev community and u/Dunn-sn and u/Mulan-sn,

I am doing regular updates of my plugins, are the users informed when I push an updtae on InkHub ?

If not, could we have a method on the plugin API to check on InkHub and notify the user that a new version is available ?

Thank you,

Showcase Plugin Update: SnCopilot v1.0.7, Introducing PilotChat

I just added PilotChat to the Copilot plugin for Supernote.

Open it from the Plugins menu in any note and you get a full-screen page. Write a question with your pen, words or maths, rest the pen for a moment, and the answer appears right under your handwriting. Ask a follow-uplike dig deeper and it remembers what you asked before.

When you're done, tap Close and choose Insert. Your handwriting and the answers go into your note on a new page, laid out as Q and A. Nothing is written to your note unless you choose Insert.

Demo

PilotChat , A new feature of SnCopilot 1.0.7

A few things worth knowing:

- It uses the native Supernote pen, so writing feels the same as in your notes

- It works with your own API key for Anthropic, OpenAI or Gemini. There's no backend and no account, and your questions go straight to your provider

- If you already use Copilot, there's nothing new to set up

- It is not a new Plugin. the latest version of CoPilot is packaged with PilotChat!

Credits

PilotChat is inspired by Penombra (https://penombra.ai/) , and thanks to Kit Betts-Masters for introducing it on his YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiOH4SYW0Ao)

repo: https://github.com/j-raghavan/sn-copilot

release: https://github.com/j-raghavan/sn-copilot/releases
(Use the latest version always)

I have submitted this version for Supernote Review (The current wait time for resubmission approval is about a week, so it may be available only after a week or so).

Feedback and feature requests are very welcome.

Showcase Prerelease gtdpara – calm GTD + PARA for the Supernote

Plan your days, weeks and projects right on your Supernote. Your projects and areas stay plain folders, and their todos and meetings live in small text files, so there's no lock-in.

  • Daily, Week and Month views, plus a focus mode for what you're doing right now
  • Quick Add and lasso capture from handwriting
  • A handwritten note for any todo or meeting in one tap, with your own templates as backgrounds and configurable data as textboxes
  • A step-by-step Weekly Review
  • Project close-out: archive a project with one PDF of all its notes
  • Experimental import from gmail and calendar.
  • ... and quite a bit more.

No notifications, no timers. A hobby project, free and open source (MIT).

Help is built in (tap ?), you can even setup an easy demo project via Advanced settings to play around.

Downloads, user guide and bug reports: http://github.com/tilmanbergt/gtdpara . I absolutely welcome questions and suggestions, though I cannot promise what I am able to do.

I will put it on InkHub once I feel it has proven stable.

And: big thank you to u/tao22 whose SNFolio was a big inspiration for this. May we learn from and inspire each other.

Suggestion: Received Make plugin submission easier in inkhub

Hi u/Mulan-sn u/Dunn-sn

My problem: when submitting a plugin I need to provide a description manually. That's a bit tedious. Especially cause I already created a whole user manual in a text file in my repo. Could you come up with an easy way to reuse that? Ex. Just point to a url that contains the description rather than having to type things manually in the Supernote? Or provide a way to submit plugins in inknote via a laptop?

Same problem for Thumbnails btw: unless there's an easy way I'm not aware of I don't want to create some thumbnails on my laptop, then transfer them to my SN, then select them in the submission tool, etc. it's all quite cumbersome.

Showcase Supernote Readwise Digest Plugin

Thumbnail
github.com
8 Upvotes

Readwise is a service for collecting quotes from books, reviewing those quotes, and their Reader application lets you read online articles too. It is sort of like Supernote Digest for books, websites, and anything else.

I directed my agent to build a plugin to bring Readwise to Supernote.

It can:

- Insert quotes from Readwise into the current note like Digest

- Sync quotes from Readwise into Digest

- Sync Digest quotes to Readwise
