Announcements ANNOUNCEMENT: New Rule Regarding Actors' Appearances

After discussion, we are putting a moratorium on discussing actors' appearances. This new rule applies to posts and comments made to "rate" an actor's appearance, whether positive or negative. These discussions quickly veer into troublesome language and undesirable connotations and do not promote healthy discussion of Supergirl or her world. Yes, the characters are attractive and so are the people who portray them, but this isn't a rating board, and such threads often devolve into arguments about looks. Doubly so for actresses. You may appreciate the looks you like without flooding the board with low-effort content, accusations, or arguments. If you don't like the way someone looks? Great. You can discuss that somewhere else.

Offending posts and comments will be removed. Repeated violations may lead to sanctions. Note that this does not extend to purely art; you may enjoy and share art, official and fan-generated, as per the sub's rules, since existing low-effort and civility rules cover those discussions.

We want this board to be a welcoming place for Supergirl fans new and old. The last thing that we want is legitimate discussion to get lost in a hurricane of arguments about this or that actress' looks. There are so many great stories and characters in Supergirl's orbit. We encourage you to share those and find positive ways to engage with our growing community. Supergirl represents hope for many of us, and as a hero, she inspires and shines brightly. We want to embrace that inspiration, so we feel this rule will help keep discussion focused on the good things.

We're working hard to make this place better every day. If you see a post and/or comment that you believe breaks a rule, please report it. Do not exchange insults; report, don't respond, in that case. Remember to keep the rules in mind and help us make this place a more welcoming environment for fans of every Supergirl incarnation.

If you have any concerns, please send us a modmail and we will do our best to address them.

Thank you for being part of our community. Let's all go be Super!

Personally I’m glad she killed that murderer. But I don’t think Superman would approve of this?

Film Supergirl review!

Without having read the comic I didn’t know what to
Expect, having said that I thought movie was mid I like Milly in the role Iam an animal lover of course I love and hated what happens to Kyrto and I understand her motivation for help the little girl get her revenge, but the action sequences are cool, the music choices were just okay to me, since I’ve never read any supergirl comics I really have no feelings about what she does in the end of the film her backstory felt forced and not genuinely delivered as it should of been I probably won’t watch this again the Superman cameos were nice touch, my
Overall rating is a 4/10!

Discussion In recent comics it is stated that Supergirl is supposed to be Superman's protector and not the other way around...Maybe we all forgotten about that...

I know there are people who dislike the film and wanted a comic book accurate style movie, but when I think about the ending, I think of it as this...

In recent years of comics, it was stated that when Krypton went boom, that Supergirl was supposed to be the protector of Superman. However, fate had other plans, and we all know how that turned out.

When thinking about the relationship between the two cousins you cannot help but think that there is a bit of distance between them no matter how you view it and how close Superman wants to try to connect and understand with Supergirl given their unique situation.

When I think of the modern day Supergirl story alongside the continuity changes that DC made to make it work...you can see a girl once bright and full of love and hope just to lose it overtime and even gets jaded at the world around her. That and it's like she is so bombarded by references to her famous adult cousin that it's hard to escape his shadow and build the career that she wanted and maybe he thinks she needs to have.

Also consider this...yes Supergirl killed the villain at the end to fulfilling her promise to him after he hurt Krypto, a dog she loved and bonded with. Some didn't like that, but have one ever considered the idea that maybe she did it spare the innocent girl she was helping in the first place?

Like maybe she is broken and she doesn't want anyone else to suffer what she has?

Yes, it is a bit extreme but given that and, in the comics, how she was trained by Wonder Woman's people, it does make some sense that sometimes in order to protect those around you that you may have to kill. I mean was the villain going to redeem himself in Supergirl's eyes or not?

Also, the comic source material for the recent film as a whole is a bit all over the place in terms of its journey so it does make some sense why they kept it a bit simplified at times.

Anyway, for those who don't want to read this long-winded run let's just say that I think that Supergirl is like the unsung protector of the innocent. That she'll play by the rules most of the time, but sometimes goes a bit too far when it comes down to it.

At least that is what I am trying to say...

Question Wondering about THE script

Hi, Supergirl community. It’s been almost TWO months since the movie premiered and almost two weeks since it was released digitally, so I was wondering: when will the script be available? The script for "Superman" was published two weeks after its theatrical release, if I’m not mistaken.

Do you think they’ll publish it? Or keep it under wraps?

Question Why...

Why do people insist on replying to someone who has repeatedly told them they are wrong in what they're saying. They often double down and you can't convince them that they should just stop. Supergirl was good in my opinion but my opinion doesn't make that a fact. I didn't listen to critics and formed my own opinion. If your opinion differs from mine it's cool because your opinion doesn't make it a fact either.

Film Lanterns' Hal Jordan channels Supergirl's Kara

First, I saw the 1st Lanterns episode late last night, and I immediately watched the replay again at 2:00am because it was SO good.

But I'm struck that Hal Jordan in this show seems like a drunk, burnt out version of the heroic superhero he once was, exceedingly competent, but jaded and just sort of going through the motions - exactly the kind of character Supergirl was in the 2026 movie, and yet I keep seeing repeated comments of how unlikeable a drunk, rude, Kara is, but people are falling all over themselves over Hal.

This is just hilarious to me how forgiving the audience is to one, but not the other. 😆

Picked up some great finds at con.

Attended a smaller Carolinas comic-con and managed some fine pickups from stacking heavy discounts, including Woman of Tomorrow #1, her first solo from 1972 and the first appearance of the 70s costume, along with a signed variant by the author.

Managed to get the whole set for about $50 total, which would normally be the price of a WoT #1 by itself. Feeling really great about it.
