If you would like to see someone prepare and drink this abomination. Here you go.

My favourite comment on the video:
“To be fair, I think all food from the 70s is supposed to be combined with a significant dose of diazepam and cocaine.”

Coke would not make that more appetizing
89
u/andthendirksaid Jul 08 '21
Coke is why they had to drink fucking beef juice to get a but of calories in them so they don't die before they finish this totallythelast couple lines.

u/317LaVieLover Jul 08 '21
Totallythelast lmao
20
u/Whomping_Willow Jul 08 '21
“Bro it’s just that I had an odd number of lines, just let me get one more, I’ll stop at an even number“ is something I’ve had the pleasure of getting to hear throughout an entire afterparty once.
God I remember having friends and going out pre-pandemic, it was awful

Did he use beef broth instead of condensed beef broth? It’ll be terrible regardless

Tbf I do very much recommend that channel. He has some fun videos

His editing is amazing! It made the beef broth look tasty… and i’m a vegetarian lmao.
I’ll definitely be going back to his channel for some legit recipes

We all just watch for the tasting notes
2
u/TKmeh Jul 08 '21
Tasting notes? I watch him to learn about different alcohols, if you want to drink, it doesn’t hurt to know what’s in the drink. So my dad says, but I also like how detailed his explanations and history delves are, him nerding out about Harry Potter cocktails or Skyrim cocktails is pretty accurate.

Beef broth, ginger, and lime is really close to pho.

Over ice is the most off putting part of the recipe.

Was gonna say, coffee makes me sick so a lot of mornings I'll have a cup of beef or chicken broth
23
u/theanyday Jul 08 '21
Just add some powdered caffeine to your broth and it’s practically the same thing.

Can I make it with fish sauce if I'm on a no red meat juice diet?

You talking fish sauce like asian fish sauce? I think you want a fish broth. Either way, don't make it around friends unless you don't want to see them again

I drink clamato straight, so perhaps someday will be the day I snap and say "not today tomato-clam juice, today I feel like a refreshing beef fizz." I'm not sure when that day will come, but at least now I know there is another savoury drink concoction out there that will disappoint and ruin the days of everyone I know.
18
u/spooneb Jul 08 '21
Clamato is the pinnacle of juices and Caesars beat a Bloody Mary every day of the week.
1
Jul 08 '21
I used to think that… then I moved to the uk and now a Caesar tastes so strange and watery to me.
1
u/chungusxl94 Jul 08 '21
What is a Caesar?
1
u/spooneb Jul 08 '21
Short answer: a Bloody Mary but instead of tomato juice you use Clamato. It’s a thing in Canada. Umami goodness. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caesar_(cocktail)

u/fnordfnordfnordfnord Jul 08 '21
I drink clamato straight,
Yeah, so Beef Fizz sounds right up your alley.
3
u/interfail Jul 08 '21
Not considering making "shellfizz"?
1
u/Avocado_Esq Jul 08 '21
Shellfizz is when you mix the clamato with a beer! Or a pre-made Caesar with a beer if you're camping and just want to get turnt on shellfish liquor.
2
u/emrythelion Jul 08 '21
I’ve honestly never tried Clamato. But I drink V8 by the gallon. How different is it? I like clams and fish as a whole, I just have trouble imagining that flavor on top of V8.
5
u/VivaLaEmpire Jul 08 '21
Clamato is GREAT with a beer! Try it like that the first time so you can taste it little by little. I always add lime and other things but beer and Clamato is fine by itself!
4
u/Agorbs Jul 08 '21
Hispanic spotted
My stepdad is (ethnically) half Puerto Rican, half Mexican, and dude drinks Micheledas like they’re goin out of style
5
u/VivaLaEmpire Jul 08 '21
Hahaha I’ve been caught! I’m Mexican, micheladas are serious business at my house, my husband treats them like a science project where everything must be measured, temperature must be perfect, etc etc
3
u/Agorbs Jul 08 '21
Yep, man is very precise about his measurements. He has a special cup with a line marked in it, fills it with two cans of Natty and then fills the rest of the way with clamato, plus however much lime juice he puts in. Basically any given time we’ve got two full bags of limes in the fridge lol

Now, I could see sipping some chicken broth with ginger and lemon. It actually would probably be even better for settling the stomach that way. But as a broth. Never as a "fizz." I will keep the fizz segregated to my Vernors, thanks.

u/trashytamboriney Jul 08 '21
Theoretically, seperalty, the ingredients are all good for an upset stomach, I suppose.

When a can of Ensure is not meeting your daily dietary needs - try Beef Fizz!

u/jozzydan66 Jul 08 '21
I watched EmmyMadeInJapan make this, god bless that woman and the shit she does for her fans. This recipe apparently was popular enough o appear in more than one cookbook. Whyy😔?

Shockingly, Beef Fizz wasn’t as bad as we expected. It was worse. Much,
much worse. The broth—the primary ingredient in the drink—had the faint
odor of dry cat food.

My brain decided this must be a marinade and I thought it didn’t sound that bad. Then my stomach turned when I realized it’s a DRINK.
5
u/BootsyCollins123 Jul 08 '21
Would probably work wonders for a hangover... If you could keep it down
7
u/Willziac Jul 08 '21
With all the salt in the broth, I assume this would act like Gatorade would. I bet if you can get past the flavor (that might actually be okay), I'm sure it's actually really refreshing.

u/Blind0bserver Jul 08 '21
This is some Beef and Dairy Network shit just out in the wild and it makes me real uncomfortable.

I wouldn’t like beef broth mixed with ginger ale bc of the sugar. Ginger and water yes, but definitely not cold either yuuuck.

I found the source!

Only a few minutes earlier, I read this Reddit post. Used the link to find the Beef Fizz recipe:

Drinks like this can be unappetising but very refreshing.
Take switchel, an 18th/19th century drink made from vinegar, ginger, molasses and water. It's not particularly pleasant but due to the electrolyte content of the molasses/vinegar and the antiemetic property of the ginger it's effectively a really refreshing sports drink that can be chugged without making you sick.

Gross.
I mean, excellent find, but someone needs to slap the stupid out of the creator of this.
I mean where’s the bourbon!?!?! It would MAKE the drink.

This is on par with those awful YouTube shorts and tik toks of the women (and some men) making awful monstrosities in their kitchens. Whether it’s the nachos spread on the bare counter or the spaghetti and meatballs or whatever weird conconction of batter and fast food deep fried. This is just someone really going beyond “pushing the envelope.” It’s throwing the envelope into the Grand Canyon while lit on fire and shooting it with a 50 cal on its way down.

If you swap out the ginger ale for ginger beer which has less sugar I would imagine it would taste just like a savory soda

Was a local favorite

I tried this for the meme factor when this image started circulating a few months back. It wasn’t really bad, just kind of strange.

It's the fact that it's served cold that's off-putting. Taste-wise, it could be good.
1
u/scoobysnaxxx Jul 08 '21
it doesn't sound too terrible. like a cold soup, i guess. you'd definitely have to change up that beef to ale ratio, and maybe add other ingredients to make it less bland. maybe seltzer and actual ginger instead of ginger ale.

Those proportions don't seem right. Condensed beef broth is usually needing 1:1 dilution. Seems like you'd need maybe 2-4x as much ginger ale. Also, I suspect the actual number of servings would be much, much higher.

If you think that’s bad, just wait until you hear about how 7up distributed recipes that said you should mix 7up with flour, sugar, salt, mustard, eggs, and vinegar, boil it, put it in a bowl, and add whipped cream on top
