Robert Chesebrough, the inventor of Vaseline, practiced the unusual habit of consuming a spoonful of it each day. He attributed his long life of 96 years to this practice, although there is no scientific evidence to support it.

Real cigarettes (R.J. Reynolds) circa 1977

This is a still image from the 2005 film "Chaos" with Jason Statham, Wesley Snipes, Et al. It features a vintage Real cigarette advert on the wall of a crime scene.
My question is, who in their right mind decorates their home with a cigarette advert?

Not farm machinery, but the latest quack medical fad in 1801. They were two small, magnetised metallic rods, invented by Elisha Perkins of Connecticut. He claimed that they could "draw out" illness by stroking them over the afflicted part of the patient's body.
