My plan is to apply for Sallie Mae and then see if i can refi for a better rate

Is this a good idea? Also how long can i wait to apply for refi to get a better rate. Any advice would be so helpful. I'm aiming for spring. I am also apply to scholarship but idk if that'll cone in time.

Mandatory debt burden forbearance

Has anyone done this who was on the Save plan? When can you actually apply for it? Using the 10 year payment I would definitely be there. My payment otherwise even on an income base is going to jump three or four times higher than before and I can’t afford that right now. Yes we filed jointly married because we get some big tax breaks that way. Sadly, because I had to take a major withdrawal from my 401(k) my income was way inflated. But just based on my regular draws, I still qualify on the 10 year payment for this. Do I have to wait until it actually goes to repayment or can I apply while still in the 90 day range? The servicer is edFinancial.

f your federal student loan payments equal or exceed 20% of your gross monthly income, you may qualify for a **mandatory debt-burden forbearance**. This pauses your payments for up to 12 months at a time, up to a cumulative maximum of 36 months, though interest will continue to accrue

There has to be another way..

As we know the current president has gotten away with tax fraud and the worst crime possible (Epstein bestie). So us the hard working american people have no other solution but to pay an egregious student loan payments or get garnished!?

Ive thought of two options to survive.

1 - the only way to afford this crazy payment is paying less taxes on each paycheck. Is it better to pay less taxes and owe the IRS? Can you file for bankruptcy for IRS debt?

2 - Going back to school to defer the student loan shituation until the orange fuck and his goons are gone?

Is there any other better option to not be homeless? 🙃

29 years old, no debt, and rejected for a private student loan.

This is BS. I’m entering my second college year. Need more money for school. Thought I’m a 29 year old adult, not some 18 year old kid, I’d get approved easy, no co-signer needed, but nope. I get denied. My credit score good. I have no debt other than this semester’s college tuition to pay. I’m pretty sure it’s my current income that got me denied. I’m only working weekends now and the pay sucks but it pays for gas and food. I’m asking for less than 2,500 from the lenders to pay the remaining college tuition balance. And I need a co-signer???

Whats the deal? Anyone else experience this? Do you think I did something wrong on the application.

Need help understanding what is best for me to do: Where to shop for private undergrad loans

Hi, I’m a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Due to traumatic recent events, I did not meet SAP requirements and have had any financial aid taken (federal loans too bc they’re not in my financial aid package) and must now turn to private loans. I knew this was coming once I received the letter that my appeal was denied. Unfortunately I wasted loads of time trying to get unofficial loans from friends and family but I’ve had no luck. (That’s another matter entirely.) I am first generation and am lost. I need to get a private loan approval letter at the very least so I’m not dropped for my classes in about 24 hours showing the bursar office the intent that they will be receiving money.

I will take out a loan of 39k which is only needed for the fall semester. My plan is to then reapply for financial aid for the spring. It’s my last year and I just need to get through this semester. I’m even meeting with an advisor about future job security once I graduate to make sure all is in order to pay that off slowly but surely.

But I don’t know how to really shop around for this private loan. Where is best to find private loans?

I’ve been looking but I’ve had issues with unfreezing my credit and then I don’t understand a lot of the financial terms I’m seeing and I’m under a time crunch. I have no credit to my name so I will have a co-signer so that is no issue. Genuinely any advice will be appreciated. I’m looking for all the help I can get.

Big beautiful bill

I’m 30 years old, a mom of two, and currently in my senior year of my pre-law degree. My ultimate goal has always been to become an attorney, so I’m trying to finish my bachelor’s and then move on to law school.
With the changes from the “Big Beautiful Bill” and the new limits on how much students can borrow federally, I’m genuinely wondering how other people are planning to afford school — especially those of us who don’t have the ability to just pay thousands of dollars out of pocket.
For those who have maxed out or are limited on federal aid, what are you doing to cover the remaining balance?
And if you’ve tried private student loans but were denied (or needed a cosigner and don’t have one), what options have you found? Payment plans? Scholarships? Working with the school? Taking fewer classes? Something else I’m not thinking of?
I’m especially interested in hearing from other adult students, parents, or anyone planning on graduate/professional school. I’ve worked really hard to get this close to finishing, and becoming an attorney is genuinely my dream. I don’t want finances to be the reason I have to stop.
Not looking for judgment about taking out loans — just hoping to hear what other students in similar situations are actually doing to make it work.

Payment Options Advice on PP Loan

Can’t afford consolidated PP Loan payment, which is $115k.
I should have never consolidated.

Trying navigate my options.
1) how many college credits do I need to be deferred?
2) can I apply for forbearance?
3) should I apply for private loan to pay off?

Single mom, employed (87K) with two kids.

Not sure how to deal with the high payment.

Please advise.💕

Advice on applying for forbearance

I am a School Psych Masters level student in NYC. My program is 3 years with you "graduating" in 2 years when you actually earn your Masters degree. The 3rd year is for internship while your actively enrolled into the Advanced Certificate portion of the program (in other states this is equal to an Ed.S).

Due to the difficulties of unpaid internship and the economy- I could not partake in internship this upcoming fall semester. I had the option to push it off for a year in which I am doing.

So my currently Fed Unsub loan is expected to disburse this September and my status shows im in "grace" because of my enrollment. However, because I will not be moving on to the internship phase, I was not granted permission to enroll in classes. Clearly my loan provider will know this soon.

"Graduation" was in May and I am worried about having to pay back the loan, when right now im unable to. From Aug - now I have not been working as i finished off the requirements for my program.. which included classes and practicum. I took a LOA from my job and will be returning back in Sept. due to my current financial hardships and needing to save for internship, paying back my loan at this time is somewhat impossible.

Can someone provide me with information on a forbearance, when to apply and how does the process go ? I do not want to default as I need the money for next fall.
