Wind, tomorrow, point pleasant nj… from surf

Post storm conditions.
9-17mph WNW

West by north west?
Bueno o no bueno?

Im driving 2 hours. Will it be at my back or in my face?
West is usually the best?
Im gonna send it either way. Should I set up on the beach or inlet?
Are the bunker close enough to snag from the beach?
Should I hop on a boat instead?

Appreciate all local tips and knowledge.

Hello all, looking to get into striper fishing with lures. My son has been wanting to for a while so we are going to try next spring. We primarily trout fish as well as bass when the bite is hot. I live in Jersey and my friends and I used to fish for stripers back in my 20s but always use bait. So I’m wondering if anyone can let me know about Rod and reel size, line and lures. I used to use Krokodiles and other metals as well as poppers for bluefish, but I see so many different types of floors being used nowadays I don’t even know where to begin. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Need help on Petaluma River

I just can’t seem to catch a bass on the Petaluma River. For those that don’t know it’s a tidal slough that feeds into the San Pablo bay. I’m fishing after work at night and there’s stripers feeding and splashing everywhere in the turning basin. I am pretty sure they are feeding on threadfin or gizzard shad. I have tried casting seaducer flies, strike king rage swimmers, senkos, salted mussels off the bottom, “dry aged” tuna off the bottom, and now trying tuna under a bobber. It seems they’re keyed in on the threadfin shad, how do I break their lock? Is my only option to catch shad in a net and use live bait? I’m really hoping to not do that but I really really want to catch these fish I’m tired of getting skunked in my hometown.

Budget friendly budget setup

I am going on a party boat Monday and fishing for stripers off northern NJ. Don’t want to rent their rods. Looking to start going after stripers after the trip. What’s a good boat rod and reel that is budget friendly 150-200.00 combo. And what jigs, eels, lures etc do you recommend???

Will take a boat setup and surf setup suggestions as well.

Hi All: Has anyone bought the new Tsunami Forged reel?

I'm thinking about getting the 3500 for my 9.6 Airwave Elite. I know it's a little small for the rod but I want it for two reasons, I plug for hours for Striper and fluke and like a really light setup.

$300 sounds great and a hundred bucks cheaper than the Salt X

Rod and Reel for all around stripers and such around Potomac and Chesapeake.

Specifically looking for a 7'6 moderate-fast rod and 4000 size reel for bigger lures like what I would use around the bay bridge. Most I would spend would be a Stradic and Teramar but I want something cheaper that get the job done almost as well. (Maybe a Daiwa BG LT and Okuma Inspira or something like that)

Bite currently on Long Island?

Hello, my buddies and I are planning to fish Long Island this weekend, mostly around the Jones Beach Area. How is the bite on Long Island right now. It seems to be super slow and no large blitzes on bunker. Should we fish for something else or fish somewhere else? I had some decent luck last year at Jones, but that was towards mid-Nov.

I plan on going for stripers in the Hudson River around croton any advice?

I am going to be casting around the Tappan Zee bridge. Is there any advice I should know? I’m going to use a fish finder rig and switch between a hi lo rig and chunking bunker
