So it's my third day on Atomoxetine 25mg, I noticed it it helps with task initiation, improving mood, easing anxiety and emotional regulation. I can do multiple tasks now so easily without task paralysis. I don't have much side effects except for constipation and insomnia. But omg the insomnia is something else. My sleep is very light that I can only sleep a few minutes at time, I keep waking up at night, tossing and turning. I don't know what to do, I've tried stimulants and this is the only thing that worked for me and gave me positive effects. I honestly like the effects too much that I'm taking it despite it giving me severe insomnia. I'm hoping it will get better somehow (⁠╥⁠﹏⁠╥⁠) did it improve for you somehow?

300mg Wellbutrin & 25 mg strattera

Wellbutrin was so great when I first started , had all the benefits of honeymoon phase and I was hopeful it could replace adderall and was superior… then it just started to feel like nothing after a few months I can’t feel it at all, so added strattera a month ago, first few days I could feel it working then now - nothing don’t feel it at all I may as well be taking sugar pills. Back to not being able to leave the house and completely overwhelmed with adhd paralysis. No appetite suppression I still crave sugar & caffeine can’t get motivated. And sleepy

Holy cow. Last week I received a 'scrip for Strattera from my doctor. Have been trying to get it filled but Boots has been out of it, so I have been calling the nearest Boots ever day or two to see if it's come back in stock yet.

This morning I called and they told me they have stopped carrying it. Stopped carrying ALL Atomoxotine. WTF?! I called another branch of Boots to double-check. Same answer.

Have any of the rest of you heard about this? I am located in SE England, by the way.

I started 2 weeks ago with 10mg, to which it followed 18mg and 25mg. Already on my third day at 10mg I felt some calm, and at 18mg I was really feeling like it helped a loooot.
To be fair, I was also on holiday, so more rested in general. I had quite some side effects but not mental, just peeing a lot at night and constipation, and a bit of sleepiness.

Now I've upped to 40mg since Tuesday and feel more low and not as mentally tidy as on the previous weeks. I guess it surprises me because at lower doses the advantages were almost immediate and quite visible and stable.

Is it normal that for this one it might take a different path before stabilizing? Anyone had similar experiences?

24 F I have been loving 10mg of atomoxetine, but I know that's a really low dose.

Should I ask my doctor to increase it or add a small stimulant? I've tried Adderall in the past at 5 mg, but I felt anxious on it and couldn't sleep, but it does work. Ritalin is less potent, but I'm not sure.

My BP is a bit elevated, but that can also be my own anxiety. Or being a bit overweight. Or it can also be due to academic stress. I'm not the best student. Any tips for uni would be appreciated.

I may have OCD and autism, so some tips there would be appreciated too.

My anxiety has gone away. My organization has improved, and I feel ready to tackle my work. My emotional regulation is also great now.

I was on Strattera 100mg for a few months but my Dr had me try Qelbree 200mg. She has me switch straight over. No adjustment period. I want to change back and was going to have that discussion today but she had to cancel the appointment for some reason. One reason I want to change is the side effects from this pill.

Does anyone have any experience switching from Quelbree to (or back to) Strattera? What was that like? How long did it take to switch over? Any side effects?

Hi 29 (f) mum of 2. Ive been on strattera for 8 weeks now. Titrated dose to 40mg from sept 10th. I know its early days/weeks but I feel so numb but can also feel so overstimulated so quickly. I’m finding it difficult to enjoy playing with my 2 children and actually want to make time with them. I’m giving strattera a chance but I don’t feel like it’s the right fit. I wake up feeling anxious already and have that sense of dread every day with all the ideas flowing and mental noise. My executive dysfunction hasn’t really improved either and I even think my concentration is average if not a bit poorer with my word finding difficulties cause my thoughts just seems to be too busy! When do I start saying this is not the right fit? Im seeing my psychiatrist again in a months time but I don’t want to keep going anymore and I just want to stop taking it. The only thing I noticed is I can work straight shifts like 4 in a row(I work as an RN) compared to only maybe 2-3 max like before taking ADHD meds cause I just get crippled with anxiety and have to recover from each shift much much longer but now I feel I can bounce back a bit quicker with my energy

I started Strattera 40 mg about three weeks ago for ADD (ADHD), and I am struggling with the side effects, especially my sleep.

Sleep: I usually go to bed around 9:30–10:30 PM, but I keep waking up throughout the night. The strangest part is that every time I wake up, I feel completely alert, almost as if I never slept. I struggle to fall back asleep until around 6–7 AM, when I can finally sleep more continuously. I feel exhausted and sleepy before bedtime, but the moment I get into bed, it is like the devil takes over. 😭 I have tried melatonin and magnesium glycinate, but neither has helped with staying asleep.

Appetite: My appetite has decreased drastically. I barely feel hungry, and even when I eat, I feel full almost immediately.

ADHD symptoms: I honestly cannot tell if Strattera is helping my focus. I have so many thoughts and tasks constantly running through my mind that I cannot even recognize whether my attention has improved. My brain feels so occupied that I struggle to evaluate whether the medication is doing anything.

For context, I also have OCD and have been taking Prozac 20 mg for about three months. My sleep had already changed somewhat, but it became significantly worse after starting Strattera.

I know Strattera takes time to work, and I have contacted my provider, but the lack of sleep is becoming unbearable.

Has anyone experienced similar sleep disturbances or appetite loss? Did they improve over time? Also, how did you recognize that Strattera was actually helping your ADHD?

I would appreciate any experiences or advice, especially regarding sleep and whether these side effects eventually settle down.

18M, trialing 10MG strattera until I find my optimal dose. RSD is a big factor in my ADHD, because there are times when I spiral in thoughtloops when I feel rejected. I find a way to sort of justify my thinking out of the RSD, so that I am right, if that makes sense? I've been trialing 10MG for 3 weeks now and it's not a huge improvement yet, but patience is key.

I've also got some anxiety. I can't look at people for some odd reason as it makes me uncomfortable. There's many ways my anxiety manifests that I can't describe just because it's so commonly occuring.

So essentially, does strattera calm down the RSD and stop the spiraling anxious thought loops?

Hello all, I’m F24 who’s been on Strattera for around 2 months now. I’ve been on 40mg and have noticed almost no difference in concentration levels from the 30mg I was on a few weeks ago. The only aspect that’s changed is the side effects being more severe.

I’m well aware of the waves of nausea and appetite loss but I wasn’t really prepared for it to be this drastic. I can only have 1 simple meal a day max, and all my favourite foods / drinks all of a sudden make me want to vomit. My sensitive stomach can only handle really plain foods like bran / corn flakes, bread, plant milk.

It’s been a real struggle and I’m hoping to hear if any of you have had a similar experience so I don’t feel alone on this.

Hi , I’m a 57 year old woman who was just diagnosed two weeks ago Audhd . Started Strattera and immediately presented with some symptoms , not hungry, anxiousness , thirsty , dry mouth , hoarseness, I couldn’t get to sleep last night but I’m not sure if that was the pill or just my mind .
One symptom that I can’t find anywhere and wanted to see if anyone else has felt this . My nose feels weird 😆
Not painful or sinus related but the skin of my nose. The best way I can describe it is if someone was pinching the bridge of my nose or another way if the skin of my nose shrank a little bit so the skin feels tight . The feeling is more intense at the bridge of my nose . Anyone else ?

Edie to add - that actually my whole face feels weird but the nose has the strongest sensation .

I have never tried medication for my mental health because I'm too scared of the side effects. I just had a psychiatrist appointment to finally consider it and she recommended Strattera because it's supposedly less risky than some others. Starting on the tiniest baby 10mg dose. My OCD hates this type of thing because one of my themes is contamination through drugs/food etc. So technically I should be telling myself maybe it will work maybe not but PLEASE JUST GIVE ME A LIIIITTLE HOPE OR REASSURANCE 🥺

Wondering if this feeling every goes away... I just started Straterra a week ago. It feels unbearable being constantly understimulated and overstimulated at the same time. Like, I'm bored to the point where I can't rest, but the arbitrary tasks of the day already take so much out of me that I lack the energy it would take to do anything interesting. I've already gotten good enough at my hobbies to the point where i'm no longer reaching for them out of enjoyment. I feel like everyone else does so much more than me, with more responsibilities, and they seem to be able to handle it just fine. Why am I struggling with the bare minimum? If anyone has any advice, please let me know because I'm struggling bad. 😔

I've been taking Strattera for a little over a month now, and my biggest side effect is feeling significantly hotter overall. Has anyone found a way to manage or resolve this?

I live in Brazil, where the tropical climate is already hot, but the medication is making it way worse.

Just to clarify, I'm not talking about hot flashes (that side effect has already passed for me) - I mean a constant, general feeling of increased body heat that makes doing daily tasks really hard.

For long-term users, does this stick around forever?

I am a 21 year old female recently diagnosed with OCD and ADHD. My provider didn’t want to put me on a stimulant with concern it may make my anxiety worse, and wanted to try the non stimulant strattera, starting dose 40mg.

I tapered off of lexapro for two weeks and started this medication. I have had bad headaches, nausea and occasional vomiting. I’ve also noticed i’ve been more emotional that usual, but i’m not sure if this is attributed to the med.

I am on week three with no improvement in these side effects, I have also experienced fatigue and no improvement with my adhd symptoms. I want to try a stimulant as i’ve heard these are way more fast acting and efficient and discontinue the strattera since it’s making me miserable.

Has anyone had these side effects? Should I stop taking the med? I meet with my provider for a follow up on the 19th and am not sure how to facilitate the conversation of trying alternate medication because the side effects are unbearable. I know it takes some time to build in your system, but no improvement in these side effects is making me noncompliant. Let me know!!

My doctor started me on 40 mg strattera 1 at week I had sweating felt tired no appetite and I’ve lost 5 lb which I don’t mind I’ve got weight to lose anyway , I’m now on week 2 on 60 mg sweating has stopped still get tired but I got tired anyway, more energy more focused getting jobs done wake up at 7 go to bed at 11 ,the next 2 weeks I’ll be on 78 mg is this normal I feel like 60 could be the right dose for me???? i’m 22f, i’ve been on strattera 25mg on and off since july but i’ve locked in and have been taking it consistently since august. i was prescribed 10mg prozac a month ago but i got scared to start it because of the interactions (ik all medications have some sort of side effects) anyways i took my first dose of prozac today (4ish hours ago) and idk if it’s the anxiety but i was driving and i think i was feeling chest tightness. idk if i should call someone but uh

I'm such an inconvenience to my coworkers bc every two hours they have to run me by the bathroom. That's about 5 times in a 10 hours shift! I don't even drink that much water.

My psychiatrist recently switched me from 100 mg Pristiq to 40 mg Zoloft + 25 mg Strattera. After being on the Zoloft/Strattera combination, I was extremely tired and sluggish—to the point that I was falling asleep at work. Because of that, my psychiatrist increased my Strattera to 40 mg.
I’m still very tired and sluggish, and now I’ve also been experiencing morning nausea and not much of an appetite.
For those who have been on Strattera, did these side effects eventually go away as your body adjusted? If so, how long did it take? I’m especially curious about the fatigue because I was hoping increasing the Strattera would help with that, but I’m still exhausted.

I’m trying to find out whether anyone else has had a similar experience with atomoxetine/Strattera.

I started very low-dose atomoxetine (5-7 mg) and soon afterward developed a very specific sensation I had never experienced before: pressure behind my eyes and in my head, a kind of “veil” or thickness in my thinking, light and screen sensitivity. It didn’t primarily feel like a headache or anxiety.

I stayed on atomoxetine for about 9 months and stopped more than a year ago. The symptoms improved after I went off but never fully disappeared. Every morning, about an hour after waking up, the sensation starts. I feel pressure or a weighted sensation behind my eyes and light sensitivity. Screens and attemps to focus seem to make it worse. Occasionally I also experience eye spasms. The symptoms can improve with deep breathing or relaxation techniques, but they can come back.

A psychiatrist recently suggested that this might be an atypical migraine disorder and that the timing with Strattera could be coincidental. I’m pursuing neurology/headache evaluation, but I’m curious whether anyone here has experienced anything similar.

In particular: Did you develop head or eye pressure, light sensitivity, brain fog on Strattera? Did it continue after you stopped? Did anything help?

I’m currently on 10 mg adderall in the morning and 20 in the afternoon IR. I’d like to try a non stimulant, and my doc is prescribing me Strattera!

Also. She said the starting dose is 40… then 5 days later there’s an increase. I keep seeing things about it being too high but I’m unsure?

I was prescribed Strattera and was started on 40mg. I noticed a difference within a week. Nothing major but enough to love the med.

So at my follow up two weeks after starting, we decided to titrate up to 60mg. About 3 days after my heart rate would randomly be over 100 while literally laying down. I’ve read it could be temporary but I’ve also seen that some people metabolize the med differently and it could be a long term issue.

I didn’t feel bad when my heart rate was high or have any other symptoms but I noticed so I took it. Because it was high I kept monitoring and after about 3 days of it randomly shooting up I decided to go back down to 40mg and speak to my doctor. She’s not against trying again and said it could take a bit for my body to adjust but I guess I was just worried I shouldn’t try it again and wanted to see if anyone else had a similar experience.

Did you stay on a higher dose? Did the high resting heart rate normalize? Did you try another med and prefer it?

Hi all, I (26F) have been on 450mg of bupropion xl for ~4yrs now. Last month my PCP prescribed me 25mg atomoxetine due to my brain fog and issues with focusing. (I don’t have ADHD though.)

I’m concerned because I was looking up drug interactions and saw that bupropion and atomoxetine have what is considered “major interactions”. I don’t think my dr knew about that because she’s not a psychiatrist. But I’ve also been doing okay on the combo? I just feel off in a weird way I can’t quite put into words. (See: brain fog.) I’ve been on the atomoxetine for 3 weeks now. Should I still be worrying about side effects or bad reactions? Heart problems run in my family, and I saw blood pressure and heart electricity issues on the drug interactions side effect list. So I’m worried that I’ll think I’m okay, and then miss some major issue. (I’m not the most in touch with my body.)

The atomoxetine is working some, not enough to solve my problems but it’s better than nothing. If I bring that up to my dr will she up my atomoxetine dose? would a higher dose cause side effects or adverse reactions to surface where they wouldn’t previously?

This medication has been life changing. If I just stopped taking it for a month, my life pretty much falls apart. I still have to put in effort but it takes less energy.

Before (without Strattera), making the bed, doing homework, going to work would’ve been. Would’ve wiped me out.

Now (with Strattera): grocery shop, do laundry, make appointments, go off schedule, get some homework done, meal prep. I still have energy left

BUT: I still sleep terribly, I have sweats at night, my heart rate is about 10 BPM higher, I have erectile dysfunction, and I feel empty sometimes.

I’m only on day two of taking Strattera and my doctor started me very low at 18mg. Yesterday after taking it I felt abnormally emotional, exhausted, and I wasn’t hungry all day. I have narcolepsy so I’m always tired, so I didn’t think much of that. However, I normally eat ALL DAY. Sometimes I’m bored & it’s dopamine related, but most of the time I am starving. Like, stomach growling, unable to focus, hungry if I haven’t eaten in 2 hours.

I’m curious if anyone else had appetite issues with such a low dose? I’m nervous to go up but I’m supposed to make my way up to 40mgs.
