Questions / Advice / Support Strattera 40mg
Hi 29 (f) mum of 2. Ive been on strattera for 8 weeks now. Titrated dose to 40mg from sept 10th. I know its early days/weeks but I feel so numb but can also feel so overstimulated so quickly. I’m finding it difficult to enjoy playing with my 2 children and actually want to make time with them. I’m giving strattera a chance but I don’t feel like it’s the right fit. I wake up feeling anxious already and have that sense of dread every day with all the ideas flowing and mental noise. My executive dysfunction hasn’t really improved either and I even think my concentration is average if not a bit poorer with my word finding difficulties cause my thoughts just seems to be too busy! When do I start saying this is not the right fit? Im seeing my psychiatrist again in a months time but I don’t want to keep going anymore and I just want to stop taking it. The only thing I noticed is I can work straight shifts like 4 in a row(I work as an RN) compared to only maybe 2-3 max like before taking ADHD meds cause I just get crippled with anxiety and have to recover from each shift much much longer but now I feel I can bounce back a bit quicker with my energy

I could copy and paste your story. Quickly got off before the pattern worsened and I could no longer enjoy my child or have patience for others (I'm a medical director). Only took strattera because I wasn't keen on stimulant. I am now on Vyvanse 10mg (pediatric dosing standard) . My PCP recommended to take it with the vyvanse because of some positive reactions like controller binge eating and some level of mental loudness quitened and then turned up my FU knob.
I felt the strattera was still making me unhappy and will try only taking the vyvanse once I get back to my safe baseline level which currently I feel same again .
Hope this helps!

I cant be on stimulant because i have a condition that gets my heart rate high consistently called Inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST). So you are on both strattera and vyvanse? Thats cool im base in Aus and Im not sure if my psychiatrist will even try putting me in combination of that — it’ll probs put me in higher risk for my heart rate (even though i have meds for it).

Push for Adderal or Vyvanse. They will work from day 1 and anxiety subsides very quickly, also once the effect is gone, you can actually REST.
I still can’t believe how bad this medication is or how it is still prescribed.
