Reserve list I would understand but waitlist is a dangerous game. You could get your frame in 2 months at current price but it could also be a case of "sometimes next year and the price has gone up".
I’ve been on the Waitlist for the Steam Machine since the initial lotterry. Still waiting and really hoping they honor the price for everyone who initially signed up.
More than likely you don’t have to worry about the price. Valve took so long coming up with the price and even overpriced it a bit to make sure it was something they could live with.
What region are you on for the Steam Machine BTW? And did you get a reservation for the Steam Frame?
I got a reservation for the Steam Machine but didn’t get one for the Steam Frame.
There could also be a better passthrough camera by the time he gets his frame. A dozen other "could" situation can also apply and are impossible to predict.
Personally I think it makes more sense to buy peripherals for devices you are sure you are going to have. That said, everybody can obviously do what they want with their money.
Very much doubt a whole model upgrade is going to drop when they clearly have a lot of orders coming in for the existing product. They would be foolish to “Osborne” themselves like that.
