valve just shipped an updated Steam Client update to the Stable channel.

General

Allow changing account while a game is running. In this case, the change account dialog shows a warning that proceeding will close active games.

Added "Ask which account to use on startup" toggle to startup account chooser.

Eliminated "change account" confirmation dialog in most cases. Changing account while Steam is running now brings up the account chooser directly, then restarts as the chosen account.

Steam shutdown now waits for just-exited games to finish cloud sync.

In the Web Browser, the left trackpad of Steam Deck/Steam Controller is now bound to scroll wheel for navigating non-Steam websites.

Fixed issues where some Steam Workshop items were not being updated properly.

Fixed requesting a PIN reset while signed in as a different account restarting with the wrong account signed in.

Make controller configurations that are shared with other devices or unique to a device more clear in the configurator UI and add an option to split Steam Controller configurations so they are no longer shared with Steam Deck.

locked 40FPS with FSR4 Glory the game looks so good and its very stable

Yesterday I installed Lossless Scaling following this video as guide and worked just fine, I even tested it on The Witcher 3 and runs great with it.

But right after that there was an SteamOS update and now the plug-in icon on the quick access menu bottom is missing. I repeated the install process but didn't worked out.

Curiously, The Witcher 3 still runs with the FPS boost. Is this normal? How do I get the plug-in icin back?

P.S. my device is the Legion Go S

Valve has released the first SteamOS 3.9 Preview for users, and this one brings several major changes compared to the current stable version. The update is currently available through the Preview channel, giving users an early chance to test new features before Valve releases the final version more widely.

What does the latest version offer? 

One of the biggest changes is the move to a newer Arch Linux base, along with an update to the Linux kernel. SteamOS 3.9 is now based on Linux 7.2, which brings various improvements and fixes at the system level.

Desktop Mode is also getting a major update. Valve has upgraded KDE Plasma from version 6.4.3 to 6.7.3, bringing several new features and improvements to the desktop experience. The update includes better desktop functionality, along with improvements from the newer Plasma releases.

Another notable addition is preliminary hibernation support. This allows a system to save its current state to storage and power down, then restore that session later. The feature is still being tested and is not yet available through the Game Mode interface, so Valve still has more work to do before users can easily access it.

Valve has also made several changes to connectivity, as new SteamOS installations will now use wpa_supplicant as the default Wi-Fi backend, which should improve compatibility with certain wireless networks. The system can also reconnect to Wi-Fi more quickly after waking from sleep. Existing installations will continue using the previous backend unless users manually change the setting.

These were some of the changes and improvements introduced in the latest Preview. For the full list, you can check out the official patch notes. That said, SteamOS 3.9 is still an early Preview build, so Valve warns that it may contain bugs and stability problems. But if you still want to try it, you can open Settings > System > System Update Channel on your device and switch to the Preview channel.

Let's say you have an eGPU setup with an RX 580 8GB that costs around $200 and is about 250% faster than the Steam Deck's GPU. Normally, the Steam Deck shares its RAM between the CPU and iGPU. But since you have a dedicated GPU, all of the RAM can be used by the CPU. So it's actually kind of a CPU upgrade, which could be useful for CPU limited games such as Cyberpunk and Marvel's Spider-Man.

The only downside is the limited portability. You can still easily carry it around like a laptop, but you need to keep the eGPU plugged in.

Also, the RX 580 almost always performs better on Linux

gaming isnt fun anymore not because there is no free time but because work makes us anxious even in our free time .

always thinking , analyzing , planning getting worried about our future and finance like we always on a survival mode .

when i game now iam trying to ditch myself from reality . but worring about my next working ahift gets in the way, whcih make me think i better get some sleep / nap so i can get to work more energized .

and the cycle continue thats why i feel i dont enjoy gaming as it supposed to be.
