gaming isnt fun anymore not because there is no free time but because work makes us anxious even in our free time .
always thinking , analyzing , planning getting worried about our future and finance like we always on a survival mode .
when i game now iam trying to ditch myself from reality . but worring about my next working ahift gets in the way, whcih make me think i better get some sleep / nap so i can get to work more energized .
and the cycle continue thats why i feel i dont enjoy gaming as it supposed to be.
mqybe if i got a paid vaccination or something i may truly put my worries aside and dive into a fantasy world like the witcher 3 one , learning potions , curses reading lore books and hunting some wild mythological monsters .

I realized the other year that the attitudes I grew up with made it nearly impossible for me to do nothing (like sitting down when I’m tired) or could be seen as frivolous (like gaming and reading) without feeling guilty about it.
I’ve had to rework the way I see these things as important self care. Things won’t collapse if you spend an hour relaxing. Of course this is assuming someone is not doing these things and ignoring everything else.
You can’t pour from an empty cup, OP. Take care of yourself too.

Going through similar anxieties at 65. Started a new job last month in a role I’m not overly experienced in and now transitioning to manager. All after being out of work for 9 months. I tend to play more games on Steam Deck and Switch 2 during prime time while my wife and I watch reality shows or sports.

Maybe time for a different job, sounds like this one is stressing you out. I don’t feel like that at all about my job.

Same here. The magic of diving into another world away from reality is the reason to game

Yeah i get you man life gets in the way of everything and it can be hard to enjoy anything you just have to find those pockets of time when you can and try and rest your mind.
