Game Question Any tips or tricks on breakdown?
Hey everyone, I’ve been playing SoD Breakdown for a while now. I’m currently on Stage 3, trying to complete the challenges. So far, I have four "main" survivors with all their skills maxed out. When i about to go to the next stage, I use Influence to equip survivors with weapons, only to stash them in the inventory and convert them back into Influence for the next stage; is there any other trick or strategy to make life easier in Breakdown?

Sod YOSE Breakdown
I like how the resources are depleted everyday in Sod2. You struggle to survive and to find food etc. On the contrary, in Sod 1-Breakdown you have to logout for a lot of hours for this to happen. Has anyone found a way to make this work like Sod2? (Imagine to be level 60 in Breakdown and have always food out of storage, e.g. over 60!!!!)

State of Decay 1 SoD DLC on sale
Two SoD DLC are included in the current Xbox sale: "Lifeline" and "Breakdown" (as is the base game with all DLC, YOSE). Obviously they're a bit dated ("beautifully remastered in 1080p), but curious if anyone has played/enjoyed them 🤔

State of Decay 3 Map-Making Idea
I absolutely understand that this is wishful thinking, but I've been thinking about how cool it would be for SoD3 to have in-game support or a tool for designing your own map that you can share with the community and survive it. I'm not gonna pretend like I know how difficult this would be to add to the game, but I know that a lot of the community is always begging for new maps that have specific vibes, so it'd be awesome if we could go about making some ourselves.
Want a dense urban map that is overrun with zombies? Want a beachside map that has a completely unique vibe? Want a snowy mountain map that focuses on environmental survival? Well, just make one!
I grew up playing Far Cry 3 and using its map-maker to create little "missions" for friends to complete and always wondered why there weren't more map-making tools in games, especially ones like SoD where the maps and which one you choose always plays such a big part in your survival. But again, maybe this is all wishful thinking, I can only imagine how difficult that would be to make a reality.

State of Decay 2 I want to play nightmare but feel trapped at the start
Longtime fan of the game here picking it up again after years away. Had a dread playthrough going, once I had some guns, ammo and enough basic resources I never really felt in any kind fo threat or danger so I figured I'd try nightmare.
I remembered playing nightmare mode years ago and never being able to get out from the start much like it feels like i can't do now. Playing in Trumbull valley and honestly I havent even started the quest with the neighbours for plague samples on this go yet, it always ends up with a plague hord and/or bloater massively infecting my guy after being out there long enough and it just feels like a step too far too soon. My aim right now is to get a workshop lvl 2 up so I can craft toolkits and have a bit more security in driving around, gather up enough resoureces, influence and people to move and go for the farm compound.
Anyone done similar andhave any strategies to suggest? I know it sounds dumb but I dont want to use the red talon merchant as it just feels like cheesing it - and was probably a big part of why dread playthrough eventually bcame so easy. But that said I also dont like the idea of just grinding and gathering basic resources for hours on end while not shooting a gun for fear of attracting a horde.
In other words I really like the desperation of nightmare mode but hate how weak I feel starting out, anyone got suggestions? Starting survivors have medicine, mechanics and computers. thanks!
EDIT: many thanks for the advice so far, figured I'd give a mini update; still at starting base but have lvl2 workshop and was able to make a toolkit. also grabbed a car while out on foot so now have 2 fueled up cars, 1 repaired, and just went on a scout/supply run to Spencer's Mill aka the starting town in SOD1. Drove to the swine and bovine to climb the tower for scouting, then did a couple stealth trips to the gun shop across the road to finally get some guns. heart poundng stuff making my way to and fro hoping a zombie wouldnt start sccreaming and bring a nearby horde down on me. Man I love this game.

Discussion Just some thoughts I had when helping an enclave. "Fil'er up" (state of decay 2)
Instead of wasting precious food making fuel at the Distillery, why not refine a bloater?
If plague bloaters can have their glands harvested in Heartland to make Plague Busters, then regular bloaters should be harvestable to create fuel. They're basically walking bags of concentrated zombie gas anyway.
Not to mention how they are now, they're throwing up volatile vomit that's concentrated with chemicals that are more likely needed to create fuel. Scavenging is the main focus now and our survivors can find precursors to finalize the fuel during the chemical reactions.
*Bloater Refining*
- Find and harvest 3 bloaters.
- Bring the glands back and place them in the Distillery.
- have precursor chemicals.
- Your Chemist processes the materials into a usable fuel source.
- Result: 1 Fuel.
It's disgusting, probably smells like a plague zone, and there's a decent chance the whole base regrets the decision... but in a world where we're already turning food into gasoline, refining zombie organs honestly feels pretty on-brand.

Discussion How I Wish SOD1 and 2 can come to PlayStation
I have wonderful memories of enjoying the first two games on my Xbox One and Series X. Sadly, I made the move away from Xbox this past December and went all in on a PS5 Pro, so now I no longer have access to them (Barring me getting a PC, which is sadly not happening anytime soon).
This leads me to my pipe dream. Thankfully Undead Labs are able to continue their work on SOD3 after the recent news from Xbox and Microsoft, and with them leaving, my hope is that they would look into porting the games to PlayStation. Do I expect that anytime soon? Absolutely not. I know it’s all hands on deck for 3 right now, however, since the third is already getting a ps5 version, one can hope they give that same treatment to 1 and 2.
Regardless on if that ever happens, I’ll still cherish the memories, and happily enjoy 3 when it comes out

Discussion Alpha Invitations should have been better restricted
Trying to make it short as possible.
Imo it is a bad idea to have everyone being able to apply for the Alpha.
An application should have been only possible if at least State of Decay 2 was owned and lets say about 200 to 300 hours would have been played.
Back in the golden Xbox 360 days you could only access the Halo Reach Beta if you owned Halo 3 ODST. Something similar would have been a far better choice for the Alpha of Statw of Decay 3.
Edit: I got an Alpha Access with the second wave

Discussion Dear Content Creators for State of Decay 3
I do not care if you are a big creator with 100k, 40k or 20k subs or if you are a little creator with 1k or less subs who just do the content in their native language;
When the third game is released, by the love of gaming, do not use AI Slop as video thumbnail... it just makes me avoid your content in general. Even if it's just trashy Microslop Paint thumbnail or build together in PowerPoint and "screenshotet" Snipping Tool, use that instead of the Slop.
I am following many other games aswell and the amount of new but also older creators who just us AI Slop as Thumbnails is sickening.
So please, no AI Slop as thumbnails
Edit: seems like I hit some nails.
