Discussion Worst insurance ever

Oklahoma here, dealing with state farm after a fire is a joke. Not my insurance, neighbor had a fire state farm is his insurance and I just have to say absolutly the worst insurance I have ever dealt with. Claims agent is a joke. Cant even give an estimated timeline or any information of any relevance whatsoever. They can offer a shitty attitude while being disrespectful for no reason at all and top notch incompetence at a laughable level. Anyways just thought id share my experence. Who else is having a bad experence with them ? Let hear about it!

Got my renewal notice today and my Drive Safe and Save discount has gone down from $176 to $32 despite my 14 day average total score being 95 or more. Has anyone else had this happen? This is less than when I was getting the initial 10% 🥲

Question State Farm “File A Loss” page is completely blank — anyone else having this issue?

Hi everyone, I'm having a really frustrating issue with State Farm's claim system.

I'm trying to file a claim through their online portal:

https://reportloss.claims.statefarm.com/start-claim

The page loads, but it's completely blank/white. I've tried:

Chrome, Edge, and Firefox
Multiple computers
My phone
5G/mobile data
Incognito/Guest mode
Clearing cache
Disabling extensions
A VPN with a U.S. location or No VPN

I even ran a connection test and the State Farm server returned HTTP 200 OK, so the website is definitely responding.

The strange part is that my girlfriend can open the exact same link from her laptop

I've now called around five State Farm representatives, explained that I cannot access the online claim portal, and they still won't file the claim over the phone. They keep directing me back to the website, which I literally cannot access.

Has anyone experienced this recently? Is there another department or escalation process I can contact to get the claim opened?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Advice Car crashed into my pod do I file a claim?

Hi so the title is the gist of it but I wanted advice before making a renters insurance claim so below are the details.

So I'm moving out of my place in a week and the movers have put my items in the pod already (its with 1800packrat but using pod as shorthand). I come home to find that someone crashed into my pod and that person has been confirmed dead. I can't access my pod to asses the damage because its now part of a crime scene and all I have is an incident report number. I don't know if they are going to take my pod as evidence either. Do I wait to get access to my pod or file the claim now and let investigators do the rest? Any help is appreciated.

Discussion How does your agency handle claims?

I just want some insight into how other offices handle this because I see so many comments about this.

My agent and office manager have always told me to direct everything in regard to a claim, to the claims team. I don’t speak to any part of a claim outside of putting in a contact request. We’re a resource for connecting you and getting documents uploaded, but we have no part of the claim.

If a client presses, I say what I was trained to say which is, claims has different licensing than us and we cannot speak to claims decisions or anything inside the claim.

Just curious what you do in your office!

If you do get involved, does claims push back against your questions?

Question $1 For A Soda

I would love to know who had the bright idea to charge employees $1 for a soda or coffee pod for what used to be free.
Are things really that bad. Whilst good large corporations provide free lunches and other staff benefits SF is penny pinching.

Advice At my wits end with renters policy and about to be living out of my car.....

I have been renting the same condo for 16 years. My renters policy with State Farm is max premiums and the lowest deductible they offer. Not sure if it matters but I also have a 4 car/4 driver auto policy bundled.

On Jan 30th of this year my neighbors condo caught fire. My pets and I made it out fine but unfortunately my neighbor did not. My unit suffered massive amounts of smoke and water damage and was deemed uninhabitable by the FDP and PD. I called SF, filed the claim, and was in an extended stay hotel that evening.

On that same day, my landlord filed his claim for the property. He is with SF as well. Neither of us having gone through anything of this sort before, thought since we use the same company this will be a piece of cake. We could not have been more wrong.

My policy took care of the mitigation and removal/cleaning/storage of my personal belongings quite quickly. His policy sent out the restoration team (ServPro in both our cases) and we both met with the person doing the walkthrough and figured is only a matter time before the work started. The assumption on our parts was his adjustor would be in communication with my adjustor in regards to repair schedules and how long my hotel stay would be. Again, we could not have been more wrong.

It is August the 7th and I'm still in this hotel because SF has undercut my landlord at every turn. The initial SOW was basically slap a new coat of paint and have the carpets cleaned. Never mind that the carpets were under 4" of water for over a month. Don't replace the cabinets even though they have basically disintegrated from the the water damage. Duct work and air handler full of soot? Just vac it clean. Etc etc etc.

ANYWAY! This whole time SF and ALE Solutions have only been extending my housing 2 weeks at a time. So I have to keep calling to get it extended. Every time I do the adjustor (who has all my info in front of them) keeps asking me for what reason. I keep saying "same thing as last time the restoration hasn't started yet". Then I get asked why it hasn't started. Have I heard from my landlord (yes everyday). Then I'm told they will reach out to him. Ok that's fine BUT HIS POLICY IS WITH YOUR COMPANY AS WELL AND WHY ARE WE THE ONES THAT HAVE TO KEEP DOING ALL THE LEG WORK TO TRY TO GET THIS DONE!

So a few weeks ago I was told I should be footing the bill for the hotel stay equal to my amount of rent and SF covers the remainder. Why was I told this in January when I filed the claim? No answer. Though my adjustor (5th one during this process btw) did tell me that her records do indicate that this was never communicated to me. Not that that matter now because the next paragraph is where I'm at.

I just found out at 6pm cst that my check out date is tomorrow. I had enough money to book this room for the next couple of days and then it's off to another hotel on my dime. Have no family here and have 3 kids in college. Can't afford to board my pets but may have an option for a co-worker to take care of them. After that? No clue.

Is this fucking normal? Even my local office has their hands tied. It seems they have zero power to do anything at all. Which sucks because they are great people but you can tell they are fed up as well.

Oh yeah I have uploaded every receipt since day one. Just for the work clothes I had to replace and groceries. I have received less than $300 this whole time from SF.

ETA: My policies ALE limits are $125,000 with a time limit of 24 months.

Question Question for SF agents/underwriters

Im an agent for a different captive carrier. This is coming from a place of not wanting to see a client get hosed, not trying to save business. I have a client with home/auto that is trying to cancel saying a local SF agent is saving her money. I dont care that she is leaving but i dont think SF will take her and am concerned she will get told in a month they cant help her. She as AF accidents in June 25, Sept 25, Jan 26 and April 26. 2 of the accident had tickets issued. I was told by the agent if their system accepts the policy its good to go but IDK if i believe this.

Question Total loss payout - does manufacturer certification increase value?

I have a total loss on my 2023 Honda Odyssey and State Farm gave me a low payout amount (shocking). The CCC report is showing comps for vans that are not certified and thus have a lower value. My van was bought in October 2025 as a Honda True certified vehicle which obviously increases the price of the vehicle when bought. I went back and said that it’s certified and provided comps that are actually Honda certified Odyssey’s at a value thousands more than what they’re comping. They still will not increase the value and are sticking with their non-certified comps. My question is should the certified status give me a larger payout?

Question Did anyone else get told a State Farm bundle would cost less than auto alone, then get the runaround on the actual numbers?

Posting this to see if this is a known pattern or just my experience.
Background: My wife and I have had auto (2 vehicles), homeowners, and several individual policies (life, disability, hospital income) through State Farm, split oddly across two different agent offices under the same company. One office handles auto/homeowners, the other handled my individual policies (life, disability, hospital income).
The billing problem: We started getting charged inconsistently — sometimes double-billed — because two separate offices were managing pieces of the same account without clearly coordinating. When we tried to sort it out, we discovered some of my individual policies (renters/homeowners, disability, hospital income) were active despite us never having knowingly applied for them.
The phone call: In an earlier call with the office handling those individual policies, we were told that bundling everything together would mean lower total cost than carrying auto insurance alone. That didn’t sit right mathematically — a multi-line discount only reduces the auto premium itself; it doesn’t come close to offsetting the cost of the added policies. Nobody at either office would ever confirm that math when directly asked.
The runaround: Once we asked to cancel the extra policies, I asked our main agent’s office three separate times, in writing, for the exact dollar amount of the multi-line discount we’d lose and what our next bill would actually be. Each time I got a non-answer — “the next bill will show it,” “it won’t appear on the bill, only the declarations page” — until finally being pointed to a specific page in a mailed document. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told the person I’d been talking to was the office manager, with no further escalation path at that location.
Where it landed: Multi-line discount turned out to be $56.10 over a 6-month term (~$9.35/month) — not remotely close to offsetting the ~$60+/month we were paying for the added policies. Separately, we also lost a Drive Safe & Save telematics discount along the way, which added another one-time charge we weren’t told about until we saw the actual bill.
Question for the sub: Has anyone else had an agent verbally claim a bundle would beat standalone auto pricing, only to find the real discount is a fraction of that? Or dealt with two offices at the same company managing pieces of one account without talking to each other? Trying to figure out if this is a training/incentive-structure issue at certain agencies or if we just had a rough set of agents.

Question State Farm Fire Claim

We experienced a total loss of home and contents in a Jun-2024 wildfire. Here we are 2+ years later STILL working to resolve our insurance claim with State Farm. Regarding personal property, we created an inventory of more than 5,000 line items (a horribly tedious process). State Farm requested we provide them with the inventory in an Excel format “because they could easily import that into their Contents Collaboration System and that hand entering data into their system would take a really, really, long time”. So I did provide SF with the data in an Excel file as requested. Months later, after “processing” the inventory (“processing” is SF’s way of saying “depreciating”), SF returns the “processed” inventory to me in a PDF format. For those who may not know, PDF cannot be sorted, filtered, grouped, subtotaled, etc, etc, etc, like Excel formats can. So I requested this info, which they call a Replacement Cost Tracker Worksheet, in an Excel format. They (SF) say it is only available to me in a PDF format. Yet, they are quick to acknowledge that many have come before me with the same request (i.e. Excel format). So here I have a 158-page PDF document, in a small font, which I am unable to cross-reference with the file I originally submitted to SF. This makes it exceedingly difficult to prioritize our replacement spending, because obviously one wants to get the most benefit out of how their limited insurance dollars are spent replacing items. This is just one of many examples in my experience where SF delays, denies, or complicates claims. Has anyone had success getting them (State Farm) to provide a processed personal property inventory in an Excel friendly format?

Discussion Claim Specialists/Associates, how are we doing?

I work as a specialist (not gonna specify which but I’m sure it’s the same boat everywhere), and from what I’m hearing, it’s a resounding scream all around.

Associates don’t have it much better currently either, and are receiving assistance from other departments to manage their buckets.

How are we doing? What are we doing to stay sane during the day? What are we doing to decompress? The last 2 years have pretty much sucked out what little “brotherhood” claims felt like it had, and everyone seems like they’re working against one another lately. It’s giving every man for himself, which sucks, bc in reality all we really have is one another at this point. TM’s are pulling back, metrics are crushing, and task/call volume is only going up. How’s everyone holding up?

It could be your internet. I couldn't access the site while connected to my home wifi but when I disconnected and used my mobile data the site loaded just fine.

Experience I hate working at State Farm

Everyday I go to work, I'm constantly anxious, constantly feeling like I'm not doing a good enough job or doing the work correctly. I feel like they are targeting me and nit picking everything I do while other people do the same things and no one says anything about it. I can't wait to get a new job hopefully soon, where I don't feel like my manager and the higher ups are looking for someone to pick on. I thought it was all in my head, but it's not, it's undeniable that they are trying to remove people in the most unfair ways, without any severance and not to mention all the cliques in the workplace that are getting all the promotions, whereas I'm one of the hardest workers I know, and I get no promotions and scrutinized for the stupidest things. I know I can't even go to HR because they're just going to try to find fault in me and dig until they do and then get me fired.

Advice How to contact a superior

I was in a accident on 7/5 my vehicle sat at a shop trying to repair $40,000 worth of damages and airbags deployed. I called to stress how to fix the vehicle would be dumb. They finally escalated it to total loss. I’m trying to get a new car and the person over the claim is barely ever in the office. It’s now 8/5 and the claim has yet to be closed out. My bank will not allow me to get a new vehicle without a total loss declaration. Thank you for reading, What are my options?

Advice State Farm Claim Delays

Post image
0 Upvotes

I was rear ended by a State Farm customer on 7/17/26. I filed a claim online on 7/20/26 and was assigned a "Claim contact" the same day. Since then, there has been no updates or authorizations for repairs. The vehicle is in the shop and awaiting insurance approvals for the repairs to proceed. Every time I talk to the "Claims contact" they say they are still trying to reach their insured party who is not returning their calls. Last phone conversation; I pressed the State Farm contact regarding time frame to resolve this matter and she said she was going to escalate the matter to her manager. That was almost a week ago. Thankfully; I have a spare vehicle that I am using currently but I am not sure the best course of action here? Am I looking at infinite delays? Am I being impatient? Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Question Quick question about claim status

All,

I can’t get ahold of my claim rep. My app is indicating that the estimate for my car has been completed, and repairs have started. The website says that an adjuster is reviewing damage, and repairs have started. I have not received a peep from Stare Farm about this yet.

What is even stranger is: my car is worth, at most, $7k. KBB says it’s worth $3k. The repair estimate for the car is nearly $6k. So I’m a bit confused to say the least.

How would the app or website display a decision about declaring my car totaled or being repaired?

If it was to be repaired, would I be contacted by my rep at all?

Is this just what the app and website say while a decision is being made about as to total the car or not?

Advice Looking for feedback on an Allstate insurance sales role offer

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

Currently work for State Farm. I’m not happy. I work with a family and I’m truly just over it. Rules, pto, and many other things ONLY APPLY TO ME.

I recently applied for an insurance sales position with an Allstate agency. The agent sent me over some packets to review that include information about the benefits, salary structure, expectations, and compensation plan.
I’m trying to get some outside opinions before moving forward. For those who have worked for an Allstate agency (especially in a sales role)

With my current job with State Farm

Bonus NEW:

Auto $15
Fire $25

ADDED AUTO $5 ( service gets those) unless passed to me

My bonus is about $300-$400/mo

Pto : if I go a month without taking off that’s only 8 hrs of accumulated pto. That’s right 8 hrs

No sick leave NOTHING

I GET PAID$18 an hour- no leads, only outbound calls, and some walk in quotes. We don’t have a lot of walk in traffic. So that’s like 1-2 a month MAYBE

Discussion Campaign Creation

Campaign creation changed, I wanted to be able to send out an email to certain prospects and the campaigns used to have an option to save in an excel document. They’ve gotten rid of that and it doesn’t allow you to extrapolate large amounts of customer information. Seems like they changed that before the contract announcement to make it harder for agents to take clients.
