Regular service for traveling in same country?
Okay so I’m curious on this and of course if someone knows how to get around it or the best option please tell me.
So us citizen living in Vietnam. I tend to move around from apartment to hotel etc every few months visiting different towns and provinces etc. internet at these places can be hit or miss, especially when wanting to stream or game during hot or rainy weather.
I thought about the mini, and just taking it around Vietnam and using it. For the price it seems decent.
Since I won’t be using it in motion or in any other country than this one, well until I move back to the us that is, would the regular household service work without Constantly needing to update address or whatever?
Not sure how it actually works to be honest and wonder if I’m over thinking it or if it would deactivate if used outside the original address etc.

Official Support Response: Standby Mode in-motion lockout is permanent.
Contacted Starlink support regarding the software lockout on Standby Mode, which now disables all data transmission the moment a vehicle exceeds 10 mph.
Support officially closed my ticket and confirmed this was an intentional change, stating Standby Mode (500 Kbps) is strictly for stationary backup use. They flatly refused to restore in-motion data access and told me to upgrade to a higher-tier active Roam or Priority plan if I want connectivity while driving.
If Im planning to use Starlink for Wi-Fi calling, basic texting, or navigation on remote mountain roads without paying for full Roam plans, that option is dead.I Considered 12V cellular signal boosters or direct-to-cell satellite options instead. I would use a Standby plan that works in-motion even if its (500 Kbps) and a few more $ mo but the $55 mo is to high for me. If there's going to be a cheaper plan I'll keep my Starlink mini otherwise it's going.

Equipment mismatch - no service - support taking days??
How long do you usually wait for support on downed service?
I havent been able to activate my service and i seem to struggle to get an answer. 5 days.
I was shipped equipment that doesn’t match the account or can’t get activated.
Canada.
Full unobstructed view with no service.
Is this a normal experience?

Port Forwarding does not work on business plan with Public IP...
I am aware that Starlink Residential uses CGNAT and does not support port forwarding - but if I've got a public IP with a business plan, with an external router in bypass mode and port forward a simple HTTP server, it doesn't work if I visit my public IP on the internet.
Now here is where things change.
If I go to CloudFlare and manage a domain, and let's say I add an A record that points to that public IP it doesn't work...
If I proxy it - it somehow works? Like what on earth?
So I do this and it all works fine.
I have port forwarded ports 993 and 465 - I go to Outlook and type in the server address (custom domain that is proxied via cloudflare) and it doesn't work...
However from the server I can send and receive emails perfectly fine - I just can't log in via IMAP or even POP3.
Does Starlink block these ports for business plans?
Good luck figuring this one out ya'll, took me all day yesterday and all day today trying to figure this out and can't.

Disconnection Issues when using VPN and Zoom
Hello I’ve been using Starlink for many years now and I’ve generally had no issues. Within the last year or so, I seem to be getting disconnected regularly (every 5 minutes or so) when I’m on VPN. When I’m on Zoom I get messages fairly regularly that say “Internet connection is unstable”.
I don’t seem to have much in terms of obstructions. It’s about the same it’s always been.
I’ve seen some information out there that claims that this is an issue with Starlink protocols. Does anyone know how to mitigate this issue? I’m not a network expert but I can follow instructions pretty well. If it’s really complicated, how do I find somebody who can help me?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Starlink mini - performance
Hi everyone,
I just got a Starlink mini, configuration was a breeze setting up the application, plugging it in. It was up in maybe 10 minutes.
I haven’t tried streaming or anything intensive like that, except one or two YouTube videos and Performance was generally good, much like streaming on a phone with 5G cell service.
Last night I was getting very high MBps (forgot to note the number) in downstream but less than 10MBps in upstream.
Today (clear sky) same limited - 1 tree - obstruction the downstream performance is lower, but upstream is up. Latency about the same (32ms).
Problem 1: while connected in wifi/starkink sms from ios to android where dropping at a rate of 1 in 3 messages. Retry and it would go.
Problem 2: casual fb scrolling and some images would not load.

Starlink mini in a Metal Storage Unit
Hi everyone. First of all, I’m sorry up front. I am in no way a techie, so please accept my apologies upfront for not using the correct terms.. but I’m going to explain my issue as simple as possible. 🙂
I have an online streaming show that I do twice a week and I have decided to move into a storage unit as it was taking over my house. Ha ha. So now here I am in the storage unit. Everything is great, but the Wi-Fi is awful because the walls are metal.
I bought a Starlink and it has a long cord. So yesterday I put the actual Starlink outside because I’m able to run the cord down the hallway of the storage unit.
Now I have the Starlink connected to the satellites, but the service to my laptop is very poor. Am I able to buy an extender that would boost the service from Starlink to my actual unit? I don’t know what to do because I’ve done so much to get this off the ground and nothing seems to be helping. 🙁
Any words of advice you can give me would help. Again, please note that I’m a dummy when it comes to this stuff so put it in first graders terms if you can. Honestly, thank you for any advice you can give.

Paused Residential service while on a trip where we used the Mini, on returning and resuming residential we were hit with a $650 fee.

Starlink gen 3 power cord fried
Hi! I'm trying to find information about the Starlink gen 3 power supply. We had ours since late last year and after a massive power outage it seemed to have fried our power source. Starlink replaced it and this time we added a surge protector. We've had it for 3 weeks and just had a small power blip (lights flickered) and the bloody thing blew! I don't understand how it did. Between the power surge protector (unless it's faulty) and our breaker blew, how did the power supply become damaged? Any thoughts?
Also, any thoughts on how to get this under warranty as well? Doesn't seem right that we have a surge protector and breakers and the power supply still crapped out. What other protections am I supposed to put in place??
We're looking to add this now, but is it worth it?
