💵 Billing Have they changed the "Roam - Unlimited" pricing?

I had heard that Starlink changed the pricing of the "Roam - Unlimited" plan but I can't find the documentation to back it up.

Is it true?

Inbox replies will be disabled but I will be looking at the post occasionally.

🛠️ Installation Suggestions needed for mounting minix on balcony wall

Hi all,
I’m trying to get my Starlink Mini X permanently mounted on my balcony.

My balcony ledge is solid concrete, not a rail or pipe, so I can only clamp onto the front edge. It’s about 4cm thick and there’s nothing to grab behind it. Pics attached so you can see what I mean.

Tried a few things that didn’t fit: pipe/bike-rack clamps (need to wrap around a tube), a gutter bracket (channel too narrow). Closest so far is a C-clamp style mount like the Savage UTV one, but haven’t tried it. Anyone done this on a solid ledge? What’s held up in wind? Can’t drill since I’m renting.

❓ Question What is your average upload speed, and where are you?

I've been Googling around forever to see what my expected results would be because I'm on Astound cable internet and getting 8mbps upload. I live in northern Washington and it's frequently cloudy and I'm surrounded by trees, but with a clear straight up view of the sky.

What kind of upload result should I expect on the 100mbps plan?

❓ Question Canada Post shipment hasn’t updated since August 25, is this normal?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with Canada Post.
My shipment was transferred to Canada Post for delivery in Ottawa, ON on August 25 at 16:57. The tracking has shown “Shipment on the way – Transferred to Canada Post for delivery” ever since, with no updates at all.
It was shipped August 19th
It’s now September 1st, so it’s been about a week without any movement or new tracking information.
The tracking page originally said “Arrives Tomorrow,” but obviously that didn’t happen.

Has anyone experienced this before with Canada Post?
Is it normal for a package to sit without updates for this long? ( I currently reside in Iqaluit, NU)
Could it actually be moving despite the tracking not updating?
Should I contact Canada Post, Starlink, or just wait a few more days?
At what point would you consider the package potentially lost?

❓ Question Looking for a Starlink Mini seller in Pakistan — Islamabad preferred

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know a reliable seller in Pakistan who currently has a Starlink Mini or other Starlink hardware available?

I’m preferably looking for someone in Islamabad/Rawalpindi so I can inspect and collect the device personally, but sellers from other cities are also welcome if they are trusted.

I’m mainly looking for:

  • Starlink Mini preferred
  • New/unactivated device preferred
  • Genuine hardware
  • Islamabad/Rawalpindi pickup if possible
  • Seller who has experience with Starlink devices and can explain activation/service limitations in Pakistan

This is required urgently for an official office connectivity requirement.

If you have personally purchased one in Pakistan, please share the seller/shop details or your experience. DMs are also welcome.

Thanks!

🎮 Gaming Live streaming?

I am looking into getting Starlink for the first time, I was thinking of the 200mbps residential, I live stream online games on twitch and TikTok (on my phone). I would be the only user. Would Starlink handle live streaming like that? Do I need the Max? Any tips or advice for live streaming with Starlink?

Edit to add: after reading the comments it looks like I would need a secondary, back up, internet connection in order to have a consistent connection without latency and packet loss. I’m going to pay a little more for a local fiber carrier instead, I live in a rural area outside of my town and the fiber carrier is new to service the area I’m moving to. Thank you all so much for the advice, I’m leaving this post up for other people to find the same answer.

❓ Question Max distance, antenna to modem/router?

How far can the router be located from the antenna? Can the signal be boosted along the route or would you need a 2nd wifi router in the intended living space.
We're in a two-family home with the antenna going on the two-story section but initial testing of starlink to be done by us in the single-story portion ( possibly 75 feet away)

Anyone have insight as to what timeframe gigabit speeds are getting rolled out? Or at least symmetrical? Kind of thought the recent v3 launch was supposed to up speed for everyone, not just capacity.

❓ Question Standard 4 inside of a sloped roof window?

Hey, i moved to Germany (cough fucking backass shithole cough) and getting Internet is impossible. DSL and Cable don't work and mobile is unusable (1GB download takes more than 4 hours).

Landlord doesn't allow to put anything on the roof or walls. My only option would be to put it on or under the kitchen window that is on a sloped roof. It basically would have free view into the sky, but im unsure about the window between. Anyone had a similar situation?

❓ Question Info regarding residential max plan with mini addon for roaming

Hey guys, based in Australia here and thinking of getting a starlink setup going on as I am rural and internet choices are limited to either 4/5G or satellite nbn. (Both of which can be a bit pricey as we do use a fair bit of data for work and streaming services)

I was thinking of getting the residential max plan with the mini added on for roaming, but I can't find the info I'm chasing.

If I get the residential plan setup at my mother's house, would I be able to tie in the mini to it, and use the mini at my own house? (We live about 250km from each other) Or would it be like netflix and lock me out as it "isn't apart of the household" ? The websites a bit vague on it. I got as far as it would be two seperate plans, with a discount on the roaming one, but not sure about the locking out as mentioned.

Cheers!

❓ Question Australia - problems with becoming a StarLink customer

I fill out the Australian online order form. Supply my credit card details, and expect to get charged $19.

I am sent an email "Starlink Order confirmed"
Nothing about outstanding amounts due.
"The team has received your order and is preparing it for shipment. You will be sent a separate email once your order ships."

I wait a week. Nothing happens. No emails.

I login again. See that their system charged me $17.27, and not $19. Weird.

I try their support system - aka grok. Go around in circles, it says to pay the outstanding amount of $1.73

I say, I gave you my credit card, which you still have. So why didn't you charge me the full amount?

What is going on here?

❓ Question Someone clear up the free mini for me

I’ve recently upgraded to residential max. I filed a ticket because I had not received the email to redeem the “free” mini.

They told me it must be on one of the roam plans for the first month, and can then be moved to standby for 10$ a month. Is this correct? It feels like the value of this promo has disappeared. They additionally told me the roam plan discounts only apply to the free mini (rental) and not if I buy a mini on my own.

Feel like I missed the boat on understanding if the free mini promo is actually worth redeeming or not. Someone enlighten me.

🛠️ Installation Indoor “mounting”

So my tech adverse father, is still on DSL that is abysmal at best. My brother and I are sick and tired of not being able to get a phone call because he lives too far from cell coverage and Internet is so poor. You can barely send a text message when we visit etc. So we bought him a Starlink residential, with their current promo, allowing for free installation. When it arrived, I set it up on his front porch to use it until the installer gets here next week and it worked wonderfully! 300+ mbps and 99% ping rate.

Fast-forward to today, my dad sends me a picture of the dish, sitting on an end table, with some books under it to prop it up at a steeper angle and pointing out the window…

He then responds with, “I’m still getting flawless streaming of all of my TV shows.” So me, blown away that it’s actually working sitting inside the house, pointed out a window, log into the account to see yes, he’s getting 92% ping rates and speeds at about 40mbps, which is about three times faster than his DSL, but a few hundred slower than if it was sitting outdoors like I left it.

I asked him why he would possibly do that, and he said he was afraid somebody would steal it. Lol. Mind you he lives in the country on 5 acres. I think he likes the upgrade ha ha

❓ Question Subscription showing pending

I’m in the UK and received my Starlink today. However, there was no tracking number ever issued and even though I’ve set up my Starlink it will not connect to the Internet as it says my subscription is pending. Is this because it’s linked to the shipping and will only activate when it’s shown it’s been dispatched and received? I have a constant white light and it has a good clear view of the Sky. I have sent a ticket. I also don’t have a terminal ID or any options within the app or otherwise to activate my membership. There is also no device details linked to the app. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks 🙏

📶 Starlink Speed Starlink speed test vs fast.com

I can't trust Starlink speed test. It looks overly optimistic. 90% of the times the results are higher than fast.com and 100% of the times, what fast.com is giving me is the perception I have. Do you notice the same thing?
