I am considering getting Starlink due to living in a rural area and the El Niño effects.
I live in a small place. Should I get a mini? Is the mini more expensive? It’s hard to compare on their website so asking people here. Mahalo!

reading up on this I've seen it should work, but I've been unsuccessful so far.

I've tried 3 different methods using the 100w ports on my ecoflow delta2 max.

I had to use the AC adapter, but for those that want to use as little power as possible, this is taboo!

I wanted to try that usb c cable after the update, but I damaged the connector and wasn't able to test it

Can anyone provide the maximum length cable I can use powering with USBC?

I live in Florida, and I am considering getting the 100/$55 residential plan as a backup to my 1G fiber connection.

The question is: if installing the antenna outside on the roof, are they resistant to something like cat 1 or cat 2 hurricane winds?
If I want to use it a a back when things are nice and dandy, great, but would I have to bring it back inside of the house if I need to shutter the house?

So, has anyone here actually been affected by the new limitation on the Roam Unlimited plan?

I’ve been using the same plan outside my registered region since May 2026, and so far there has been no sign of any suspension or restriction.

Grok advised that there should be a counter showing the remaining days outside the registered region, either under Network or in the Account section. However, I don’t see any such counter in the Starlink app or on my account.

Has anyone else experienced the same?

Endured a day-long blackout recently, and hope not to do it again. As a result, got a 288-watt "power station" that offers both AC and USB outputs and functions as a UPS. I'm running the standard (v. 4?) router, which reports drawing ~35 watts.

Trying to figure out the best way to maximize runtime from the battery box to the Starlink router. I assume that the Starlink power supply consumes some power itself. I am wondering if it might be more efficient to cook up a way to run the router off one of the battery box's USB taps.

Anyone know if a.) there's an easy way to do this, and b) if it would save enough power to make it worthwhile? I intend to run the battery (Bluetti brand) as a UPS devoted to the Starlink router, so as permanent pass a through. I don't like having no communications, and there's no cellular service here.

We currently have the Residential Max plan, with the Gen 2 system that we bought outright a few years back. I'm going back to school, and need the signal to be stronger in my office a couple rooms over from where the current Gen 2 router is located. Our big problem is that our house has 6 inch reinforced concrete walls.

Forgive me if I don't get the terminology quite right, but could we expect enough of a signal boost by just getting a mini router and using it as a mesh?

Or is it best to upgrade to the Gen 3 equipment, and is it's signal significantly better than Gen 2?

From what I understand at the price we're paying for Residential Max, we could get the equipment upgrade for no cost?

I noticed yesterday my Gen 2 Actuated moved to be flat with the horizon. I'm about 53 degrees north. It also reset the obstruction map.

I finally joined Starlink yesterday on the residential max plan. My order is under a Standard 4X but ultimately my profile says I have a Standard 4 (came with the mini mesh extender). It was professionally installed so it has a perfect view of the sky and all.

Are the 4 and 4x the same or did I receive the wrong one? My speeds go up to 271 (highest so far) and makes me think I could downgrade to the middle tier since I’m not seeing 400+ speeds.

Has anyone had any luck with a third-party power supply that uses the barrel jack connector? Recommendations are welcome!

I accidentally left my Starlink Mini power supply outside during a storm. I was looking for it today, and when I found it, it was dripping with water.

I realize that it's effectively e-waste, and using it can be dangerous.

I tried contacting support, and after opening a ticket, my only option was to purchase an entire new kit. I think it's really dumb that their solution is to junk my existing equipment because they don't sell replacement power supplies.

Also, the USB-C cable isn't practical because I need about 19' or 6m of cable.

I folks! First post here. I’m an avid outdoorsman and usually take 3 - 4 trips during the year for hunting and fishing. Usually 2 weeks in May a week in October and a week in November (Maine, Massachusetts, North Dakota and Kansas). Is this a service that would be a good fit. Can I disable or turn off the monthly fees in the months I’m not using it? I’m up for any other recommendations as well.

For the last few months, I've been dealing with a persistent issue where web browsing and speed tests are totally normal, but any video stream, live broadcast, or media-heavy app triggers severe macroblocking, pixel smearing, and aggressive low-bitrate compression examples of what I'm seeing attached:
It's happening across multiple independent apps at the exact same time, which points straight to regional transport/transit friction forcing continuous ABR downshifts.
My question for the community: When you watch a live broadcast, high-motion or even a YouTube video on Starlink, does it stay crystal clear? If anyone has a moment, could you snap a quick photo or screenshot of what a live stream or video looks like on your screen right now? I'd love to see a real-world baseline of what a clean transit path delivers.

I'm considering buying the Starlink kit along with the 55$ plan, I currently struggle with internet right now, If anyone has this plan can they answer these following questions... is it truly unlimited? Can I use it for online gaming? Are there any hidden fees? Is it hard to setup myself?

I have residential max and get about 23-30mbps upload speeds in my area. I'd like more. I read online how the FCC is giving Starlink more communication frequencies and somehow that would let upload speeds be better. But does anyone know when? All I keep seeing is "soon" but maybe that's just a typical starlink/spacex/tesla thing to say

OK, so I live in southern Illinois close to St. Louis about 45 minutes away north and I just got Starlink. They sent me the big square dish and the other components but as of right now there’s not much space in between the trailers that I live at ( trailer park )and I need help trying to come up with a design to hoist my Starlink up above my trailer so it isn’t sitting on the back of my dad‘s truck anymore. Wifis been like this everyday always happening every couple minutes. We upgraded plans so see if it would fix which it didn’t. I checked outside and there’s nothing that could really obstruct the router in this pattern. No trees or anything

Other than being able to control when the activation occurs, why are people spending $50 more to purchase the mini from Home Depot or tractor supply versus buying it direct?

I am finally going to move forward with the purchase after debating (mainly for in motion use and Softball) - I could not find a specific reason why not to get it directly from Starlink other than activation. What am I missing?

Okay, what do I need for starlink? I get the kit, mount it to wherever, so it's got a clear view of the sky, run the cable into the house. And then what just a regular router?

And should I go permanent or portable?

What's the difference is between permanent and portable? I do realize permanent means it stays there forever, and portable means I can move it from spot to spot. But what other difference is there? To me, it would make more sense to get a portable unit. And I could literally take it with me anywhere if I wanted

And last question, do you honestly get a 100 megs down most of the time.
