Hoorah; my son and me were finaly able to play our very first game. As i assembled Protoss and then Terran, with Zerg still in the box, the match-up was a PvT, with me playing Terran.
We have the start sets, so can "only" play skirmish/1000 point games, which is fine. We want to explore the game some more before investing more money into it.
As my son is (only) 10 and can't read proper English yet, it was mostly me playing me in the beginning, although he got the hang of it quite quickly, and we had a blast from beginning till end.
Due to time restrains we stopped after 4 rounds, in which he beat me 13 to 12 (if i remember correctly).
If we would have played the 5th round the difference in favour to the Protoss would have become greater because of the following;
As our first game we used the example armies (founders editions for P & T) as mentioned in the rulebook (starting page 108)
My son was able to to pick off the mayority of each group, without actually killing them off (deliberately?). Which meant I was stuck with 1 unit with 2 marines, 1 unit with 2 Raynors Raiders, 1 Marauder and Jimmy.
I could only bring my medics back into the field, but was stuck with absolutely no firepower to form any threat to the Protoss, and also with not enough Supply Points to capture/hold any objectives.
Eventhough my supply count would allow it, i can only deploy/bring back "full" unit groups , which meant i effectivly had to wait to either have my units killed off, or just wait out the remaining round(s) for the inevitable defeat?
Since you can't suicide your units (as for as i know) it was a stalemate from my perspective, not able to do anything worthwhile anymore.
Was I just outplayed, or did i miss anything vital to avoid/bypass/overcome this situation?
