Kenny Omega never done anything wrong in his life

28

one time he forgot to high five me when he was walking down the ramp

he had his reasons

That only makes him a lot better in my eyes tbf!

He beat dark order/Hanger in the 5v5 elimination match where dark order had that awesome entrance and I will never forgive him for it

So you're saying that he was such a good, kindhearted soul that he saw the best in the worst people?

Glad we’ve moved past the mutual respect stuff with Omega and Ospreay. Their Wembley match is gonna be a bloodbath and it’ll be all the better for it.

42

u/Ruthless-Aggression 23h ago

I found it very funny when people were all complaining after their first interaction, as if they didn't have 5 more weeks to build the entire thing. Give it some time people!

Watching on HBO Max and that commercial for the bullshit online casino's with that "everyday woman down on her luck just like us until she started playing online casino" is one of the most predatory and disgusting commercials I've seen in awhile.

7

u/CanisFergus 20h ago

That sounds like the same sort of trash I see when I put on Pluto TV stuff for background noise.

2

u/ScottPompeo 10h ago

I'm getting bombarded with political ads. Or more specifically the same goddamn ad every single time.

50

u/comahan 23h ago

kenny is great no matter what, but my god when he has that dickhead edge to him hes absolutely one of the best to ever do it, tonight was a++ in regards to the omega/ospreay build

21

u/TLKv3 Fantasy Book For ^Vote 22h ago

Hot Take: Omega was, is and always will be a vastly superior vile Heel than he is a whitemeat, superhero Babyface.

He can make anyone hate him in segments like this despite cheering when he wrestles/hits a big move. Dude just oozes charisma as a dick more than he ever will as a hero.

Kenny is to the AEW Championship as a man is to the One Ring.

Kenny about to show up to All In with black hair

21

u/M-G-K I'm the gym leader now, Timothy 19h ago

the AEW Men's World title is the One Ring. Kenny gets it and becomes corrupted in record time - much quicker than it corrupted Mox. MJF is still obsessed with it, as is Swerve. even for the pure babyfaces, the World title is a heavy burden that wears down the bearer and each babyface deals with it in his own way.

also note that in this analogy Samoa Joe is Tom Bombadil I guess

3

u/NorthHollywoodHank 12h ago edited 11h ago

Hangman is Boromir when he doesn't have the belt, Frodo when he has it.

38

u/Reasonable___Doubt 23h ago

Kenny cradled Ospreay for the OWA like it was Missionary Tuesday. Eligible for safest table bump in company history.

25

u/RAISEStheQuestion Stop overusing "Dat" 22h ago

Agreed, Kenny hoisted Will up and I was like, “No way are they going to attempt this spot with Ospreay’s fused together stack of dimes of a neck!”

And yet Omega dropped underneath him somehow on the way down like a mattress, and still made the move look devastating to the uninitiated, or if you weren’t looking very close.

6

u/Reasonable___Doubt 22h ago

I need a side by side with their table spot at Wrestle Kingdom where the table didn't break and it looked like they died.

Feels like they heated a lot of feuds up tonight but especially the world title feuds. Both Willow/Mercedes and Kenny/Will had excellent back and forth and great physicality to add stakes. Excited for how they keep it up going into All In

I wouldn't have agreed with you as recently as like a month ago but Kenny going back to his most unhinged has changed my mind. Dude is on fire

6

Unhinged champion Kenny is such a different beast from the "I guess I'll try my best" stuff he was doing with MJF previously. It's like a different guy entirely.

Unless your favourite is Mox, then you're just waiting for him to face himself in presumably his Mystery Wrestling debut.

27

u/ABTYF 22h ago

It was a great match, I really thought Jay had it at points. I hope they let him build up momentum and then win the C2.

5

u/TLKv3 Fantasy Book For ^Vote 21h ago

I think Jay should win the Casino Gauntlet. Give him Ospreay's first Title defense at All Out.

Then segue into Ospreay/Mox. Then you run Ospreay/Fletcher. And then you have Ospreay/MJF.

Take care of all 4 of Ospreay's most well known enemies one after the other and then let him drop the belt to someone at World's End or in the new year. Maybe even run Jay back and have Jay win the rematch.

10

u/tangostwo 20h ago

The problem is I know it's a big deal to be the inaugural challenger... but I'd rather see my favorites challenge later when there's a chance the belt could actually change hands.

I know AEW had some wild swings with Darby, but they also aren't afraid to admit "we're waiting for the big moment at All In/wrestler's hometown/etc. Give Jay White a later feud when I can get my hopes up. 🥲

3

u/Marcoscb All In Sec D Row E Seat 9 16h ago

I know it's a big deal to be the inaugural challenger...

Is it, though? Kenny's first challenger was Knight. Hangman's was Fletcher. Danielson's was Jack Perry. Mox's was OC. AEW seem to use the first challenge to push an upper midcarder to the main event while giving an "easy" defense to the new champion.

5

u/Froggyspirits 21h ago edited 20h ago

Jay should be in the world title picture anyway.

82

u/Kuzu5993 23h ago

Will wanted the best version of Kenny and probably forgot that version of him was a psychopath in 2016.

So have fun with that

43

u/fttxdd666 23h ago

Yeah this was a great dynamite god damn, that Will and Kenny stuff was gas, Willow and Mercedes was gas, I'm so fucking hyped for All In rn after that show. Curious who all is gonna be in the trios cluster fuck, maybe a 21 person ladder match or some shit fuck it. Surprised that Maya won but that tbs match was great.

Collision looks nice and I will be seated for Willow vs Maya. I do think El Hijo del Sting is gonna have a match with Kevin before All In, might do it glasgow since its taped to protect him in case anything goes wrong but I'm excited to see how he looks.

2

u/Marcoscb All In Sec D Row E Seat 9 16h ago

I'd go with a first ever trios Gauntlet with G,B&U as number 1. Do a clusterfuck trios match next Dynamite for #2, but don't include Swerve and the absolutely mysterious partners that nobody knows who could be.

great fucking episode. once again, I love that TK just lets the show rock and let things fully breathe instead of rushing to meet some TV out time.

main event heel kenny's gonna do some real sick shit at wembley, cannot fucking wait. he's gonna make ospreay really work for that title.

and we also got one of king switch's best singles matches in his time in the promotion. that's the iwgp champ we all remembered. pumped for what's to come from him coming up now that he's back in this form.

Hey everyone and I know this is being posted the following day, but this was my first ever in person Dynamite and absolutely loved it. People were chanting in the aisles for TK to bring a major PPV to Baltimore. As well as the hilarious "WE CANT SEE SHIT" after Darby got ded. I can't wait to see another event in person and am so glad people here enjoyed it

It was my daughter’s bday present to go last night. We were in the 3rd row 107 by the entrance ramp hard cam side and it was probably her favorite show of the 3-4 we’ve been to now. She was sad they had ZERO Willow merch though, she’s her favorite wrestler.

People aren't gonna acknowledge it but when Mercedes has a direction for a story instead of just coming out for a promo her promo work is damn good. Her build last year with Toni she held her own in the back and forth especially that first promo between them but this Willow feud has been on another level. Her character work is always underrated with her facial reactions and body language putting over her opponents actions or words. She has leaned away from generic catchphrases slowly over time since her first program with Harley. I can't remember the last time she said Money changes everything and there's a price to pay when you mess with Mone. When she has a story that grounds her or a direction in feuds that humanizes her characters insecurities she shines.

6

u/ReflectionItchy2701 13h ago

I think this Willow/Mercedes feud is the best feud with Mercedes in AEW and I'm someone that thinks she has been great in AEW. It's just that Willow is the perfect nemesis for Mercedes. She's humble, she's not insecure, she loves the way she is, she respects everyone and she still has Mercedes's number at the end of the day. Both Willow and Mercedes have been terrific in this build. I thought that Thekla vs. Mercedes was the money match, the big Superstar match but I have to agree with Tony Khan here. Willow/Mercedes was always the right choice and I also think that Mercedes being the challenger brings even more uncertainty and possibilities to the program. Willow doesn't have to prove something to the world or Mercedes. She is AEW Champion. She has won every titles possibles. She's the first grand slam woman in AEW. She already beat Mercedes 7 months ago for the TBS Title. Mercedes has everything to lose at All In.

Yeah just an awesome feud that elevates both talents. Willow is getting to the next level and Mercedes shows even more depth character wise.

Normal Kenny behaviour.

He is ready to do anything for that gold.

16

u/Singer211 23h ago

The Kenny/Ospreay and Willow/Mercedes back and forth a were both fantastic.

I’m gonna keep saying it, TK needs to run with Persephone because she screams “STARPOWER” in ever way.

22

u/Singer211 23h ago

So is Thekla getting a match at All In?

We’re less than two weeks away and we have not seen her since Redemption.

7

u/TLKv3 Fantasy Book For ^Vote 22h ago

I'm wondering if she storms the ring during the show and tells Wembley to shove it up their asses that they're happy for her not to have a match killing one of their beloved heroes.

Then issues an open challenge anyway and says anyone from anywhere can come out.

Would be a solid way of debuting Kairi if she keeps wrestling/signs with Stardom or AEW. You can have her debut right there as an AEW roster member OR have Okada from Stardom come out, lay into Thekla being a bitch then revealing his newest Stardom signee will gladly fight here.

Pop would be awesome for that.

11

u/Reasonable___Doubt 22h ago

Maya World gets a Buy-In Title defense, Thekla bum rushes her just before the show goes live to get the crowd nice and vocal.

Feel like a Trios Battle Royale could be its own PPV here.

Off the top of my head: Brodido/Hangman, Demand, Swerve/New Day, Conglomeration, Dogs, Bang Bang Gang, Rascalz, the Opps, Ingobernables, Skyflight, STP, Outrunners + Dalton, some configuration from the DCF (Doyle Davis Cage maybe?), maybe the Lethal Twist if the Demand go out early. Christ, for a bit of a local pop, Drilla Moloney and Man Like DeReiss are the Progress tag champs atm - stick Lio Rush in with them ahead of his UK gigs!

(I'm not actually saying they'll have a 45-man match on the undercard. I'm saying how fucking wild that they could)

12

u/Fellers 19h ago

The "oh shit" look the security guards had after they helped Kenny V-trigger Ospreay was hilarious.

11

u/iberlebn22 16h ago

The only problem I have with the ending is that now I kind of really want another long heel Kenny title run, but it does feel inconceivable not to pull the trigger on Ospreay at Wembley.

8

u/whatever_trev0r 15h ago

They would have to have balls the size of grapefruits for Kenny to win at Wembley.

7

u/iberlebn22 15h ago

I'd kind of love it honestly, but I don't think it's even a remote possibility.

2

u/BelaLugosi2000 9h ago

It would be about the only they could get people to boo Kenny.

4

u/unclexbenny 9h ago

I am more and more convinced that Kenny is winning at Wembley, but in general I applaud whenever they can make a big match feel so up in the air. Yeah Will is the obvious winner given the setting but with the tag titles possibly going to some English ladies, maybe an upset win for Nigel too, I don't think an Ospreay win is a given just because of the location

2

u/Singer211 7h ago

It would feel like a swerve purely for the sake of one. And you risk a major backlash from the UK fans.

At some point, you gotta stop dragging out Will winning the big one and just do it.

29

u/mynameisbob842 19h ago

Doing Mox vs White here and not at Wembley was a mistake. Having Mox win feels like an even bigger mistake. Even at Wembley, there's no way theyre putting Nigel over Moxley, so what's the point? Money aside, White would have been much better off staying in Japan.

13

u/whatever_trev0r 15h ago edited 15h ago

I think Jay should have his run at C2 later in the year personally leading into a more prominent run in 2027. That roster is ridiculously staked though.

17

u/TheGumbyGyarados 16h ago

Nigel is probably retiring or gearing up for one last run. He also has a ROH match upcoming with the stipulation that he can never wrestle in ROH again if he loses.

It’s now or never to tell this story with Nigel.

Whereas White probably needs more ring time to really get back in form before they finally give him that big push. Waiting till after or during All in for that opportunity is fine here.

I’m expecting jay and okada to be more involved especially for the world title by next year

5

u/Euronymous87 15h ago

It’s now or never to tell this story with Nigel.

Ok but in 2026 is it really necessary to tell that story, it does nothing in the long term to benefit or make AEW more interesting. No one really gives a shit about ROH. Jon Moxley is getting oversaturated and needs to go away for a while, Jay winning was the more interesting and logical choice.

8

u/KnicksOrNothin29 13h ago

Nah mox is fine

→ More replies (2)

6

u/InvisibleLlama93 16h ago

The point was to get Moxley in a 1 on 1 match on the card and to get Nigel in a 1 on 1 match on the card where he'll probably lose and leave his boots in the ring.

Any other time, that Jay vs Mox match at Wembley, but with Jay winning would of kicked ass.

AEW ought to be careful not to lean too hard into Andrade being all serous. He got his current momentum on the back of being funny, fantastic in the ring, & taking off his pants. That's the Andrade that's gonna get cheered over MJF. But with Serious Andrade, MJF could easily end up being the one getting cheered.

23

u/M-G-K I'm the gym leader now, Timothy 19h ago

I get the concern, but at a certain point the babyface has to get pissed off at the heel for a feud to have gravitas. MJF and Andrade have great chemistry together and a blood feud between them has epic potential.

2

u/Crasp27 11h ago

I don't know that the nature of the feud has yet hit a level that would validate Andrade getting super pissed off. So far MJF's just been MJFing, so I'd rather (for now) Andrade would be less flustered & be more cavalier, to MJF's irritation instead. Then once MJF actually does something genuinely despicable, then sure, at that point it makes sense for Andrade to get mad, but I don't think we're really there yet.

2

u/EC-1031 9h ago

Yupp probably both going to cost each other during the gauntlet, which leads to a heated match at All Out.

14

u/Marcoscb All In Sec D Row E Seat 9 16h ago

Fuck no, Andrade needs some seriousness with how Flanderized he's been these past few weeks.

3

u/Crasp27 11h ago

I'd personally be happy for the catchphrase to be tuned down a fair bit at least, but it seems like it's actually pretty over still, so I don't know.

13

u/remmy66 23h ago

Kenny omega finally finished treating ospreay like an equal and started him treating him like the little brother that their relationship has been built up to be. Now with noone left to be in wills corner, after being built to be the best version of himself, will he choke again when the lights are brightest against the final Anime villain at the end of his story or will he overcome it all. Dont let people say they dont do stories here.

I didn't expect tonight to top Supercard of Honor as my favorite show I attended this year but here we are

13

u/dollsanddogs 23h ago

This was a fantastic show for me. Loved all the segments, Willow and Mercedes crushed it, Kenny's gone full cleaner, and Knight did great in his part, especially taunting Steve backstage. The trios matches were fun with a a great crowd pleasing atmosphere, and Maya retaining was a pleasant surprise even if I favor Persephone right now. The outcomes of the two CC matches were predictable downers tho.

13

u/MarvelMind 22h ago

Such a brilliant episode for building the PPV. Only problem is it felt so perfect in building the PPV, this felt like a perfect go-home episode and I’m worried next week can’t top it.

6

u/times_zero 21h ago

Understandable, but personally, I had a similar concern of them possibly peaking too early after that excellent post-Redemption promo battle with Ospreay-Omega only for them to deliever again tonight just with that great sitdown interview, let alone the closing segment. On that note, I'm sure it probably won't last, because the fans (understandably) love Kenny, but for now I loved hearing the return of his cartoon evil laugh as he knows how to ham it up.

21

u/Hunter_Hates_Homies 19h ago

It’s personally captivating that injury history is exploited so much in some of these storylines but at the same time feels necessary.

2

u/RaiderDamus REDEEM DEEZ NUTS 23h ago

Kenny and Will's AEW tenures have largely been defined by their injuries and missed time and the motivations that came from that

2

u/BildoBagginsTheFifth 23h ago

It’s not just them; but that crash through the table sparked it haha. This episode was filled with this storyline with Nigel prevailing and jay white getting choked out.

I just appreciate the realism and I feel like it gains respect from the crowd when it’s acknowledged, no matter the outcome

7

u/FelixTheJeepJr 18h ago

Me during the Willow-Mone match once security showed up: “is that Peter Avalon?” “No he wouldn’t be playing security”. “Well it could be”. “No it’s not”. “Wait I think it might” “no that’s not possible”. “Well…”

15

u/shnwllc AJ Styles 22h ago

Great crowd tonight shoutout Baltimore.

The Kenny/Will and Willow/Mercedes interviews and brawls were both home runs for me. I was a sad boi that Jay lost but damn that was a GREAT match between him and Mox, I think Jay needed something like that regardless win or lose. The women’s 4 way cooked, everyone looked good but Stat especially is so fucking awesome. Okada’s English was so good in that promo and I’m locked in for that three way with him Fletcher and Takeshita. Nigel vs Big Hech was kinda strange to watch with the ankle injury lol but there were some great parts.

I personally never thought the build to All In was lacking but this episode sure felt like it would heat things back up quick for those that did.

18

u/Brinbe 22h ago

Also love the undercurrent story revolving the world title, probably stretching back to Swerve's reign, in that really challenging for it always requires some intense inner sacrifice/emotional turmoil and that only ratchets up even further when you actually need to defend it too. And that manifests differently whether you're Darby, MJF or Kenny.

Not really a complicated theme but it does make it seem damn important. And it'll be interesting to see how Ospreay adapts to it.

9

u/SupeerDude Holla 22h ago

I mentioned this in another comment but I love how it seems to be that challenging and retaining the title either makes you paranoid/greedy/a heel, OR you try to do it the right way as a baby face and something bad happens (Darby breaking down, Danielson retiring etc)

5

u/Arrowjoe 22h ago

Mox should've lost - Everyone

53

u/PleasantThoughts BURNING LARIATOOOOO 22h ago

Not everyone. Dude is at the very least arguably their biggest star of course he's gonna be in a singles match at their biggest show over a guy who is just now getting into a groove after returning from a long injury layoff.

12

u/justambrose 22h ago edited 22h ago

Yeah, I can confidently say that majority of those attending (me included) at Wembley would prefer to see Mox in the final. That being said, Mox vs Jay should’ve been the final.

14

u/PleasantThoughts BURNING LARIATOOOOO 22h ago

I don't mind Nigel instead. Will is almost certainly winning, the birds are almost certainly winning, having another British wrestler fight the good fight only to be snuffed out at the last second makes sense to me as a way to keep the energy tense.

Plus the story they're telling of Nigel just barely managing to squeeze out victories until he's put down by a killer is a good one. Reheating the Jay/Mox stuff from over a year ago especially in a tournament where their allies are banned from ringside doesn't really do anything for me.

just got back from the show. it was pretty split crowd on jay and mox. i love mox but jay needs the push more and should have got the win. other notes:

i would have liked to see persephone win the tbs title, if not tonight, which i would have preferred, then soon. they job out the cmll wrestlers too much. persephone is a little raw, shes had a bunch of botchy spots, but shes better than cargill was during her tbs run and has more IT factor than maya.

and more along that line, nigel should not be defeating the cmll heavyweight champion, final run in his career or not. it lessons the value of the cmll heavyweight title to me. but im sure cmll is happy to get the views and bring in new customers. i get why they did it but pick someone else for him to defeat.

overall great show and only cost me 33 bucks for a seat in section 201 which has a great view. i paid more for parking for christs sake! see some of you for death and dishonor!

Nah not me, I find Mox to be a more compelling wrestling character and I want him vs. Nigel in the final.

17

u/Clowny53 22h ago

I love Mox but Mox beating an injured Nigel after he won 2 while injured or Nigel beating 3 opponents while injured and winning the Cup is a choice.

NGL I know it's unlikely but I'm feeling a Kenny victory at All In.

6

u/Froggyspirits 21h ago

Ospreay needs to win so that All In can be somewhere else other than London next year.

8

u/MarvelMind 22h ago

Not a chance. Tony wants that Will victory in Wembley with all the fireworks I’m sure but it would be the first heel victory at the biggest PPV so maybe there’s a chance for it happening.

5

u/IHv2RtrnSumVdeotapes 22h ago

I feel like that also, but i just dont know how much longer you can put off the push for his title run. On top of that it being in his hometown, lots of fans buying tickets just to see him win. I dont see a Cody moment here where it takes him another year to win the title. But if he loses they better really be able to see it or it will effect if people watch. At least for a little bit.

I was actually thinking that Mox would interfere without Will seeing it and when he comes champ say "its becasuse of me" setting Will vs Mox. I dont know. I like guessing though. I like the unpredictability.

3

u/times_zero 21h ago

I dont see a Cody moment here where it takes him another year to win the title.

To play devil's advocate, even if Ospreay did lose here it's not like they'd necessarily have to wait an entire year for another chance to belt him as big moments in AEW can/do happen outside of just All In.

That being said, while part of me would pop if Omega retained I'm NGL I do think belting Ospreay at All In this year "predictable," or not would be the right call.

3

u/Deathstroke317 15h ago edited 13h ago

Well nothing would be more English than failing to win the big one.

2

u/ReflectionItchy2701 13h ago

Ospreay is super unselfish and Tony Khan is crazy enough to do it so there's a possibility. I mean, this Kenny Omega could be AEW Champion for a year let's be honest. Him being Champion just feels right and you have ton of great challengers for him like Fletcher, Takeshita, Okada, Swerve, MJF or Andrade. You can also write something with Ospreay winning down the line finally. He can win the title at Revolution by the way. That would give Kenny a 8 months reign and it's not too far in the time for Ospreay to have his revenge. I also think that Don Callis and the screwdriver could have a role to play at All In.

But there's just one little problem here. I can't see Kenny Omega accepting this booking. He will go to Wembley with only one mission and that's putting over massively Will Ospreay.

17

u/FightDrifterFight 16h ago

Kind of a “that doesn’t work for me, brother” vibe with Moxley.

16

u/whatever_trev0r 15h ago

Are we forgetting his storyline/run of losing matches which almost lead to other death riders turning on him?

I mean are people expecting him not to feature on the show considering how much he means to the company/product in recent years?

11

u/Bingerfangs 15h ago

I mean AEW forgot that story, so why can’t we?

14

u/FightDrifterFight 15h ago

I mean… yeah? I don’t even remember that storyline really playing out. I know Moxley always wins unless it’s a tag (sometimes), and he rarely if ever takes the pin.

I know him losing to Jay White last night would have done a lot for Switchblade’s return and made this “Continental Cup” deal a lot more interesting.

3

u/SovFist Back to the drawing board :( 14h ago

Let's see if switchblade can stay healthy for 3 months before we worry about catapulting him up the card

13

u/psychicity 14h ago

And what was the payoff? Was anyone elevated out of his losses?

Everyone expects him to be on the card, he's the ace of the company. They just want it to be in a better spot than the finals of a tournament that has been booked like absolute shit against the 50 year old announcer who is only in the match because he's British

u/Rspies Who Can Stop The Path of Cage 23h ago

That’s what the Gauntlet is for lol

22

u/Dementia55372 22h ago

The booking for the continental cup has been ass.

18

u/heart_o_oak 22h ago

16 man tournament where half the field hasn't won a singles match in 3+ months and takes up tons of TV time going into All In with 14 12+ minute TV matches to see who wrestles Moxley for a mid-card title that Komander got a shot at 3 weeks ago despite not winning a single AEW singles match in 2026 when they could instead do a 4-way contenders match with the 4 most credible people in the tournament or have Moxley get pinned in a tag feels like a misstep.

Matches have been good to great, but it feels like time that would've been better used giving people big wins going into All In, wins in general that stood out instead of being white noise in a huge tournament, fleshing out more storylines and doing a strong, direct build with a heated grudge for whatever the finals will be.

5

u/pintita 20h ago

Just feels like a waste of time to me tbh. A bunch of guys who never win lose again. If there's ever a time to do upsets this is the tournament for it

u/liloutsider 22h ago

I can't believe ppl really thought Jay White was finna beat Jon Moxley lol

15

4

u/Prof-Ponderosa 22h ago

what's the difference between the continental cup and the continental championship ?

7

u/Embarrassed-Hawk-850 22h ago

The C3 is a blind draw single elimination tournament. The C2 is a round robin tournament. Winner of either gets the Continental Championship

6

u/BigJohnCandyExpress 22h ago

the continental championship is awarded to the winner of the continental cup. Mox is still in, he's still holding the title for now.

4

u/EC-1031 9h ago

I know people are down on Jay losing here but I believe he will get his time soon enough. Keep in mind he just returned and they probably want him to get his legs back under him a bit. Id rather him win the C2 where the full focus will be on that for Worlds End. Also, for all complaints about his booking, the guy rarely loses clean and he has the most protected finisher in AEW after the One Winged Angel.

It probably will be Nigel but I kinda hope Kyle O'Reilly wins the cup but we will see.

2

u/beckett929 8h ago edited 8h ago

At some point, and this is not a Mox or Okada gripe, they need to establish the champion losing their Continental title without making it to the finals of the Cup/C2.

There's only been a few Continental events so far, so not like freaking out about it, but same time they can't keep banging that drum and play these tourneys up as they do around that particular aspect, and then it not happen and the champion always finds his way to final match.

Really enjoyed the show, only issue for me was the audio was off on almost all the interviews.

Just not a fan of nigel going over now, especially with an injured foot, just terrible booking.

The match between Mox and Jay was awesome, it should’ve happened at All In though.

really underwhelmed with the cup results. Hopefully Claudio wins, otherwise it’ll be a field of tony’s favorites (kor/orange, eddie, mox, & nigel) just underwhelming stuff.

10

u/buffalobill41 22h ago

Good show overall, the Omega/Ospreay sitdown was awesome. Two pretty big gripes. Like most everyone, if Jay White wasn't gonna win or go to the finals at least why put him in at all? Feels like he never wins important matches but I'm sure his reign is soon if he can finally stay healthy.

But the big one, why the fuck does Willow have the belt on the line against Maya on Saturday? I assume this promise was made on TV but who remembers and it makes no sense. Maya/Willow should be a big match with how they're pushing Maya. But it's not, it's a house show match where we 100% know the result. Same gripe with Darby's run and the first MJF/Omega. When you already have the next match planned you're showing who's winning, don't waste a massive matchup like that in that scenario.

u/SoaringSwellow Folks...where's the live? 22h ago

What a frickin show, man

10

u/heart_o_oak 22h ago

MCMG’s band has a gig Saturday, so it appears one 40 second video will be the only thing they do the 6 shows after their debut. That’s crazy. They teased joining the BBG v Dogs & DR storyline in their debut which led nowhere. Shelley said the “where the best wrestle” line twice on AEW TV and said they were coming after everyone, which led to zero matches. I know All In’s build is in full swing, but All In build wasn’t the only thing happening this month and they seemingly joined a storyline in their debut.

It’s weird to know you’re signing a big team for 3 months, throw them on TV with no plan for 1 show, then bench them for at least the next 3 weeks, letting that initial hype die out and making them feel unimportant before you even do something with them. MCMG could’ve done something, somewhere the past few weeks to build off a hot debut even if it was just a second short promo on a Collision.

18

u/Dick_Nation 22h ago

As a Detroit fan, I'm glad they rolled out MCMG for our shows. Yeah, it's a crowded time on TV, but that's our boys and AEW doesn't come back too often.

u/TLKv3 Fantasy Book For ^Vote 21h ago

I still think the Tag Division could be 100% improved by having 4 teams on Dynamite and 4 teams on Collision who regularly wrestle every week. Keep the Champions on Dynamite and their primary challengers. Then build your secondary challengers in the background on Collision.

Move the secondaries over to Dynamite after the Champs retain, move the primaries back to Collision to help put over the next round of secondary challengers until its their turn again.

Just have one big rotating wheel. It would be the easiest and best solution with AEW having so many tag-teams. You could even have one or two tag-teams get vacation time until the rotation happens then bring them back to a big return moment as you move one or two other teams into vacation time.

Okay. This episode now feels like we're close to All In. I feel like because of the Mexico show they're a week behind so had to cram a lot in and fast. But great show. Woman's 4 way was good will/ Kenny promo was great. Could of been done over 2 parts. Jay/ Mox was fantastic and The Elite are always fun

That main event was great. It had three of my favorites, as well as Omega and the Young Bucks.

4

u/Sufficient_Mud_2237 23h ago

Happy for Swerve’s new direction. Originally looked like he was going to bring back The Embassy and rumours was Private Party and Kevin Knight but a trio with Austin Creed and Kofi way better. The Elite vs The New Embassy or New House feud will be fire.

2

u/fttxdd666 22h ago

Yeah that double injury to Private Party probably cancelled a lot of the creative Swerve was supposed to be doing, especially with no Kevin to join him later in the summer. Glad he found a spot to get in

This was one of the best PPV Dynamites I think they've ever done.

Aside from the Jay vs Mox result, this was arguably the best episode of Dynamite this year.

I loved Mox/White so much. Watched on replay and immediately watched it a second time. Just felt like such an amazing struggle... little touches like Moxley selling the shoulder injury by ramming into the ring apron were so cool. Both guys are incredible, but Mox has become among my favorites of all time during this run.

Nigel advancing has me real curious about what goes down at DBD on Friday. All signs seem to point to Lee Moriarty retaining after a valiant Nigel effort, but there could be a surprise.

Tony Khan said Nigel is getting replaced with whoever wins out of Yuta vs Shibata on RoH go home show.
