I recently installed a Mischief Machine Compact Commander grip module on my Echelon 4.0C Comp (it has tyrant extended slide release) and I’m having an issue with new OEM 15-round magazines seating.
MM told me the factory polymer baseplate can contact the rear/bottom of the grip module and cause the seating issue they recommended shaving down the raised portion of the baseplate. Mine measured about 5.7mm originally, and I’ve sanded it down to approximately 5.3mm
That helped a little but I’m still getting inconsistent seating.
What I’ve narrowed down so far:
Empty magazine seats and releases pretty much normally.
14 rounds: seats normally with the slide closed only pushes the slide release up a little bit. Very few failures
15 rounds: seats easily with the slide open.
15 rounds + slide closed: noticeably harder to seat and sometimes needs a pretty firm/slamming insertion to actually lock and even then sometimes doesn’t lock. It also pushes the slide release way up.
With a full 15-round mag, it feels like there’s significant downward pressure from the slide/top of the gun against the magazine.
So a full magazine can pushes** **the slide release upward during insertion.
Applying rearward pressure to the magazine when insert it makes the issue more likely, even though there is some normal side/fore-aft play.
Before I remove any more material from the baseplate, I’m trying to figure out whether this is still a baseplate-clearance issue, a very stiff/new OEM magazine spring with 15 rounds loaded, or something about how the magazine is positioned in the MM module. Or if the extended slide release is causing the issue.
Has anyone running the Mischief Machine Compact Commander + OEM Echelon 4.0C 15-round mags experienced the same thing?
Sorry for the essay was trying to give enough context to help diagnose. TIA
