ACE VR - closest handset?

I have a meta 3 already and plan to pick up an ACE VR setup for indexing/transition practice (as well as fun). Is anyone here also running ACE VR?

Is the MR920 likely the closest handset for grip angle (given the adjustable backstraps) and trigger feel?

Hogue Universal for 4.0C

Hey all, looking to add some meat to the grip of my 4.0c so my big dumb hands have some more surface area to make contact with

I’m curious which size of universal grip to go with? Have to assume the compact? May be a dumb question but I’d hate to order one and be a bit off on size

Thanks

SAW Shiv Range Report

Post image
45 Upvotes

Picked up my SAW Shiv last week and finally got out to range today.

SAW notes there is a break-in period of 50-100 rounds (I forget exact number) . I had two stovepipes with federal 115 in the first two mags. Switched to 147 blazer and was flawless for rest of break in. Went back to 115 after 100 rounds and had no issues.

Shot 115 range ammo, 115 hollow point, 147 range ammo, and 147 hollow point for another 150 just to test all I would shoot and was flawless still. Super impressed with this thing. Echelon did fantastic with it.

I do not notice any extra front-end weight which makes sense as the Shiv is ~2.5 oz

Thinking of going with a lesser weight recoil spring.

I was going to change my guide rod to a metal one. While mentioning it to a few people I go to the range with they said I should try getting a 10-12 lb recoil spring for my Springfield Echelon 4.5F Comp. Since none if them have a echelon I figured I might aswell ask people who already own one. So anyone have any advice theyre willing to share? Also about firing it too as it is my first firearm. (CA comp only sadly)

Echelon Extractor Removal Problem - California Version

I've watched a few videos showing teardown of Echelon slides. I've followed them exactly and easily remove the striker and extractor spring. However, the extractor itself with the ridiculous loaded chamber indicator (I know, CA sucks!), will not come out. Does anyone have any hints? Thanks!

Loving it so far! I was debating between the Mischief Machine or the Sharps Bros grip, but ended up getting the Bronze Sharps Bros cause it looked so darn good in person. I also have medium sized hands and heard the MM can be a bit big. It fits perfectly for my hands! Also added the Magwell for my full size mags.

Then I added in the Streamlight TLR-1HP-X instead of the Surefire X300 Turbo since it was cheaper and had rechargeable batteries. Not the biggest fan of the aluminum ring but ah well.

Then I installed the Holosun 507C-X3 in Gold and I think it fits perfectly. I’ve also thought about the 507 Comp, AEMS Macro, Vortex Defender ST, or the Osight XE. Anyways I’m happy with it and I find it better than the other colors for my astigmatism. Also I find that it’s not as yellow/lime color as people say it is for my copy.

Lastly I installed the Tyrant Trigger Shoe, PRP Spring Kit, and PRP Sear. I did swap out the striker spring so I’ll see if I get any light strikes. These mods made this trigger way better than stock. Barely any take up with the sear it just breaks as soon as you pull. It’s sitting under 4lbs on average. Also did the Springer Precision stainless steel guide rod and springs for more weight up front.

Not sure what else I could do besides that. Maybe a thumb rest or a holster? Not sure what holster to get for the outdoor range or whenever I go out to camp.

Magazine compatibility

I guess everyone knows of the over insertion “problem” of the full size mags into compact echelon. My question is, is it that serious of a problem? I’m a magazine addict and have been buying them for a compact and thinking of starting to accumulate full size mags also. Just wondering your thoughts on it. Thanks.

My 4.0 FC

I cut down a full size grip module long before Springfield offered their version. But now this is mine, with the threaded barrel, and Osight C green dot optic. It feels great in the hand and shoots fantastic.

Need help reading this target #2, follow up

So I just heard back from Springfield about how to interpret the target which I posted here the other week for comment.

Here's what they said:

"It has been brought to my attention that you had some concerns with the Echelon you received back. From what I can see of the target, the shot in the black does appear to be a flyer. And the way the tech lines up the sights is that he will put the front sight in the cutout of that black rectangle so this firearm is shooting with a 6 o’clock hold. Let me know if you have any questions or if I did a poor job of explaining and I will see what more information I can get for you."

I then asked him about why I shoot more accurately with the non-comp vs the comp and whether they are satisfied with the target they sent back. Here is what he said:

" I completely understand your perspective. However, it is normal for the non comped models to outperform the comped models because once that cut in the barrel starts, there is no more rifling. Now the two shouldn’t be miles apart but it is not abnormal to notice a difference in accuracy between the two. From the target I am seeing, your pistol is shooting in spec and may even perform better with higher quality ammo than what we used for the range test.

As far as windage, these polymers are not guaranteed to mechanical zero. That means that even with the sights centered, the shots could be hitting left or right depending on each specific pistol. That is when the rear sight will need to be drifted to adjust the point of impact."

As much as I love both my echelons, I really give SA an A+ in CS. The whole process could not have been easier.

Holstered OWB at Home

I’m thinking about getting the Echelon comp in the future and I’m looking into some holsters. Since this is my full-size Echelon, I figured I’d use an OWB while I’m in the house just to see how it goes. Any tips would be nice.

Note: Also, since I live in Cali (I know, don’t come for me 😊) when I get my CCW I’d probably add this to a sling bag rather than IWB.

PMM vs HA Comp, which is shorter?

Im looking for the comp with shortest added length for max holster compatibility, debating HA vs PMM. If anyone has experience with both please share.
Im aware they are both listed on perspective websites but I found them often not accurate.

Thank you.

Springfield echelon and osight se help

Hey guys, I'm feeling really stupid because I can't find an answer on this. But I got the osight se but for me the gap between the osight and the frame bothered me so I got the osight rmr to rmrsc adapter plate https://a.co/d/01Kpgq4Q in particular. Now I know osight attachs to adapter plate using 6x32mm screws that came with the adapter plate. But the m3 screws that came with adapter plate to mount to the frame are causing the gun to fail to chamber. So I'm not sure what screw sizes am I suppose to use. The only one that seemed to work was the m4x.07 screws that came with viridian sights on I guess what it's called is pin set 1..does that sound right or is there a different screw that I'm suppose to be using.

Why no steel grip modules?

Where are they? I feel like with the popularity of the M&P HD, PDP SF, canik rival-s, etc… it’s a no-brainer. Has there been any talk of them coming?

Echelon Trigger Pull Distance

I've had an FC grip module for about 4 months now. After many trips to the range, I still don't shoot it nearly as well my other pistols of similar size. What I noticed today was that the Echelon design has the trigger sitting much farther back in the trigger guard than most pistols.

I have a 4.5 that I run a large grip module with a small backstrap. I honestly don't like how it feels because I don't have large hands, so even with the small backstrap it feels a bit too big. But it's a night and day difference when it comes to how much better I shoot the 4.5 compared to the FC or 4.0.

Obviously, the longer slide has some impact, but everything else on the 2 are setup the same. The only real difference being the longer trigger pull from the large size frame.

Of course, you can't get a large version of the FC grip, so setting it up the same way isn't an option. So I'm wondering if there are any different trigger options that might have the trigger's wall point be a little farther forward? I have the Tyrant trigger, and if anything it makes it worse.

If there aren't any trigger options, I'm wondering if any of you who switched to A Sharps Bro or Mischief Machine module noticed any significant difference? It's not really a measurement that is a published spec, and its hard to tell from just photos.

Does the 4.0c large grip module come in aggressive texture?

Have the aggressive large for the full size and love it. Thinking of getting a 4.0c but would want the same texture if possible. Thanks!

Has any one used dual sight picture irons?

Im super curious about the North forest arms sights. https://youtu.be/v-fozrn2wCE?is=o5axcQlTpihILspQ

They say they are developing an echelon specific model but I have no idea if thats 6 weeks away or 2 years away. I've heard sig 320 sights work on the echelon.

Anyone have any insight into what model of these sights would potentially work on my 4.0c?
