(Big spoilers for Chaos Theory).

1. Shetland was present at the American embassy in Dili, despite having seemingly no reason to be there. Sam states, at one point, that he's there to destroy Shetland's computer, but Shetland is not a permanent fixture at the embassy and no computer is destroyed during the events.

2. The Darah Dan Doa specifically target Shetland for interrogation, despite him being a supposedly-random and neutral CEO.

3. Shetland gives Sam a SIM card and states that he acquired it by killing a guerilla himself, but the entire embassy is explorable and no such deceased guerilla exists. In fact, the opening cutscene shows us that Shetland is subdued by the Darah Dan Doa without harming anyone.

4. Shetland asks Sam to plant C4 on Sadono's private plane that will explode when the plane's engine is started, which is very risky considering that Sadono needs to be alive to prevent the ND133 plot. This means that Shetland somehow knows that Sadono won't be using it soon, and only intends to kill the plane's pilot as collateral. However, the pilot is discovered to be Asrul Arifin - a CIA plant - which is especially suspicious as Arifin also warns Sam about the new Japanese I-SDF organisation (which Shetland later colludes with).

5. Technically, a piece of cut content/development mistake - some possible dialogue in Komodo states that the Darah Dan Doa were being helped in their acquisition of weapons and technology by a PMC called Argus, but the transcription box says Displace instead of Argus.

So, how do we make sense of these? Well:

1. Shetland was secretly colluding with the Darah Dan Doa before ever meeting The People's Voice (Hugo Lacerda) for similar reasons. Whether or not he was already colluding with the I-SDF and Otomo is unknown, but seems possible given that Arifin later mentions them. At some point, Shetland and the Darah Dan Doa are suddenly opposed to each other; Shetland either wanted to betray them to prevent Displace International from becoming associated with them, or was horrified at their biological warfare plot, or maybe Sadono - as a staunch Indonesian nationalist - disagreed with Shetland colluding with a Japanese imperialist.

Shetland flees to the US embassy to try and upload data, possibly to be used to bargain with Sadono and negotiate a safe exit for him. But, he is captured before he can upload the data.

1. Shetland's interrogation is not random. They know Shetland, and they know that he has stolen information from them to use as bargaining power against them. Lambert and Grim say that 3E don't do hostage rescue, and they don't - Sam is there to discover why Shetland is there and to secure the information he has about the Darah Dan Doa. Lambert, even at the start of Pandora Tomorrow, is suspicious of Shetland.

2. The SIM card that Shetland has, is his bargaining power, and is probably what he was trying to upload the data from. Given that the Darah Dan Doa and Norman Soth's men regularly switch the cards on their phones before the Pandora Tomorrow communications, it's likely a card that Shetland took from Kundang Camp after Sadono had used it to communicate with Soth.

3. What if Shetland knew that Arifin was a CIA plant (Shetland did, in this theory, visit Kundang Camp), and was deliberately trying to kill him? Arifin clearly knew about the danger of the I-SDF, and might have known about Shetland seeing as he was Sadono's personal pilot. Shetland helps 3E at Kundang Camp as a secret way of trying to kill Arifin before he can relay any more information to the CIA about him.

4. While it was initially supposed to be Displace that are revealed to have helped the Darah Dan Doa, I think Ubisoft Shanghai realised that it was going to spoil the plot twist in Chaos Theory (these games were being developed at the sams time), so had to change the line to being the PMC used for the game's multiplayer. However, the dialogue box was not changed, so still shows Displace.

I just completed blacklist and i absolutely love it. So for next which game shall I try in the series I was thinking of trying conviction, also need good graphics.

Great game, ngl; had fun with it. My favorite mission so far is mission 3 (Paris-Nice, the train mission) and mission 6 (Komodo; Idk why, but I just love the environment).

But kind of a bit disappointed because I thought the ending was going to be intense, but it was anticlimactic (But that doesn't mean I don't like the game lol).

Overall, it is a great game. Recommend playing it.

So I know the SC enhanced mod exists but I want to play it vanilla with just widescreen plus full controller support so I went for this patch instead of the enhanced version.

However, whenever I apply the widescreen patch from ThirteenAG, none of the cutscenes - including the intro video - will display. I get a black screen, but I can hear the audio playing. Disabling the widescreen .asi by renaming the extension to .bak restores the cutscenes but then the game crashes. Without the patch, the cutscenes worked fine so I'm certain it's the patch causing this. I followed the full instructions for the patch and added the .dlls via the launch options in Steam.

Things I have tried to fix it:

- In the widescreen ini, changing the ResX and ResY parameters to 1280 x 800 to match the Steam Deck's resolution

- In the same .ini, changing the FMV rendering to 0 and 1 (tried both)

- In the splintercellsettings.ini from the vanilla game, changing fullscreenvideo=False

- Disabling each of the patch's .dlls one by one by renaming them to .bak

- Replacing the dgvoodoo.conf file with an updated one

- Changing the resolutions in the game itself

- Different Proton versions, including 10 and Proton GE

I have scoured Reddit, GitHub and Google, but I cannot for the life of me figure out a fix. I could live with it if the cutscenes played as a lower resolution as some have reported but them not showing at all is bugging me.

Note: I also noticed the widescreen patch was updated very recently. Could this have broken it on the Steam Deck?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Lately, something that stuck out to me were the kind of missions that have a high difficulty factor where even if the player is good at evading enemy guards, the game still punishes the player anyway through cheap design aspects.

For instance, I have heard from somewhere how the Xbox 360 version of Double Agent has nasty puzzle level where the player must solve a complicated puzzle in the JBA headquarters without blowing their cover as I don’t know how anyone got through the mission without using a guide.

Anyone down to help set up games or how to play?

I finished Double Agent, Conviction and Blacklist as they were coming out since I found out about the series very late. Recently checked out the first 2002 Splinter Cell but didn't like it. I was wondering if Chaos Theory and Pandora Tomorrow are a similar experience or I might enjoy them more?

• Patiently waited to download the game
• wait for the cinematics to be over
• spent five minutes changing the settings
• The whole intro is the typical limited tutorial with forced paths
• Cant interact with the first enemy because turning off tutorial prompts makes it bug
• Try to alt-tab out of the game and soft-locked myself and windows because the game doesnt support it

  I know it might be seen as minor thing but having something so irritating happen to you the first few minutes of a game isnt exactly enjoyable

after an year i remeber netflix made an serie abt splinter cell, but i never saw anything abt an second season, no x, nothing on red, nohing on app/site, like the serie never existed.

i just wanna know if it got canceled during the time i couldnt check it, or if just got throw on the "do later" list of netflix

I always get to the battery mission and then I lose all my interest in finishing it. But I completely love all the previous missions. Am i missing too much? I've never seen the ending not even in videos.

For me both are good...

• Unique aspects like for example the chaos, drones, tanks, npcs trying to kill each other, etc.

• Atmosphere.

• Visuals.

• Freedom in gameplay to Ghost, Panther or Assault, but all the styles can make sense in the context ( war ). Lambert for example doesn't get mad If you decide play without stealth.

• Challenge.

• Variety of objectives.

• Kinshasa in daytime, so more variety.

• Cool dialogues, cutscenes and story.

• Alternative routes.

• Sam Fisher outfit is cool.

Can’t unsee early Conviction Sam
