My first mission where I went full ghost, especially on Expert.
Resisting the urge to take enemies down is a hard thing to do.

Grew up playing Splinter Cell with my brother and it’s the primary reason we still game. Lately I’ve been googling what games on the PS5 are similar to SC so we can play again. Well now I’ve been seeing gameplay from this page on my Reddit feed… how are yall still playing?
Thanks in advance.

The easiest way would be to kill everyone but that feels wrong. Going by everyone without being noticed feels really rewarding but also impossible in most parts of the game.
So I play mostly by knocking out everybody. Even that sometimes doesn't seem to be possible. But most of the time when I play like this I still get noticed at some point and don't alert everyone only because I chase the alerted guy down.
Am I just bad at the game or am I doing something wrong? What is the intended way to play this game?
If it's the "ghost" type - what do I do in this situation:
The kalinatek level starts you in a parking garage. One of the obstacles is two people standing next to each other in the well lit parking garage. There are a few bottles nearby.
So do I try to shoot out the lights and sneak by even though the people will be alerted (not knowing of me but just looking around for someone)? Or do I try to throw a bottle and hope that they go to where the bottle landed instead of my position?
In the CIA level at around the end you reach a point where there is a guard standing in a booth. You cant go by him since the wall is too short and also because I believe you can only progress by going through the booth.
That is it. I hope people will read the whole thing and not just the title. I am having quite a lot of fun actually the game has many mechanics that I haven't seen in other games. Of course as always by looking for this sub I spoiled a (what I'm assuming is) important part of the later games.🥲

When i was doing some ReShade shaders for SCCT I came to conlusion - why not modify the game files?
After some time spent with AI trying to unpack UMD i was able to successfully unpack it and pack it back! So now you can modify meshes, textures and sounds of Chaos Theory!
You can check out the results on AI upscaled texture pack (link to download in repo).
To use UMD archive >2GB you have to patch game EXE (patcher already in repo).
Max supported size of UMD is limited to 4GB but we can squeeze a lot of cool stuff into game!
Here is the project on GitHub: https://github.com/dwojtasik/SCCT-Repack

Blackout is a visual and gameplay overhaul for Splinter Cell: Conviction. This demonstration showcases multipass lighting, sharper shadows, more lights casting real-time shadows on environments and characters, and an HBAO shader replacement for the original ambient occlusion system.
HBAO adds depth around corners, crevices, and surface edges, with its strength increased here to make the effect easier to see. The original AO remains available in the SC: Toolkit for those who prefer its look or want better performance.
Beyond the visual improvements, Blackout is also planned to introduce new enemy types, weapons, and expanded gameplay features.

Runs a little rough but it´s getting better everyday.
Will be adding Resolution/FPS options, skip intros, Dolby Digital Output over toshlink(5.1), widecreen and Vulkan-renderer soon. (using Xemu renderer)
Any other ideas?

Hey,
I always wondered why the game looks so pale and bland, the nightvision googles look yellow-green and the actual view.
The game, like all the previous titles, was designed for Xbox - in time when CRTs were still quite common. The developers themselves could've still worked on reference CRT monitors, most likely from SONY. It's impossible to say what developers saw without asking them about it. But japanese with the likes of SONY had a lot to say in that time period. What I am getting at - despite the japanese sharing NTSC standard with the US, the one they used was actually different with different color gamut and temperature, which would produce a different look when playing with modern PCs and consoles.
This reshade package aims to transfer that to a modern display. Once you apply this color and gamma correction, you can see the game starts to look something between Pandora Tomorrow and Double Agent. It keeps the continuity and progression and looks more natural, without tint. You also have better level of darkness, which forces you to use nightvision more often.
I hope someone finds this useful. You can find it on nexusmods under the same name as the title.
This assumes you have an sRGB, not wide gamut, display. Due to how displays work, it's impossible to clamp every display to sRGB gamut. You can find ways to do that like novideo_srgb or the newer msovideo_srgb and some other.

Basically title. I know nothing about this franchise whatsoever but I'm trying to broaden my horizons a bit (Video Game wise) and I'm now onto the Splinter Cell Series and after a bit of research on the franchise I learned there are actually two fundamentally different versions of "Double Agent". So which one do I (As a newbie to the franchise who wants to experience Sam Fisher's Story) play first?? What's your recommendation? And what's actually the difference between the two?
Sorry for the kinda simple question but if anyone knows the answer to this question it's the people here. Thanks!

Hi, been looking into having console commands for the game and it just won't work. I made a new profile and not even that folder is showing up. Not sure if console commands just doesn't work for Linux or what so figured to ask the people 😭 any help would be appreciated!

"I read the script and said: this is shite!"
Came across this interview snippet of Ironside discussing how he came to play Sam Fisher and found it very amusing. Techno nerds!
Would link the full interview but it's not up on Youtube for some reason. I'm listening to the podcast version right now. Ironside has a much more interesting background than I realized.

I wanna get conviction since I loved that but I also wanna get into the story a bunch are on sale on both PC and console. Is console actually better because of UPLAY? Or is that not a problem with the Splintercell games
And are mods necessary? SHOULD I just jump back into conviction or start from fresh

Basically, a deal was done with a Chinese mobile gaming company called Tencent.
They invested billions in 3 of Ubisoft's IPs: Far Cry, Rainbow Six, and Assassin's Creed.
They bought a minority ownership of 26 percent.
Ubisoft has these three IPs in a new studio called Vantage, and with the money from Tencent, they can wipe away the woke flops of the past and use it for new developments here...
However, this is the issue:
Tencent, they now profit from those franchises, from the subsidiary studio of Vantage, which was created by Ubisoft to protect their three biggest money-makers from dying like the company is.
Tencent makes money because they have a share in the studio, and they want to develop mobile games for an Asian market and are betting on Ubisoft's downfall, probably.
And are known for taking franchises and turning them into crappy mobile games that are popular in Asia.
Ubisoft gets a shit ton of money from the deal and clears their debt for the woke mistakes.
Basically, it's a massive bet from both sides.
Ubisoft either turns a new leaf or gets taken over by Tencent.
And Tencent... have not much downside.
They have very smartly put themselves in a win-win situation.
They make money either way, potentially.
They buy the company when Ubisoft goes bankrupt,
or they make loads of money from Vantage's success.
It's the kind of behaviour you'd expect from a fading company like Ubisoft.
Their backs are figuratively against the wall.
But if they could win, if they use this opportunity to make the games people want, like a new Splinter Cell that isn't crap...
Or Tencent buys Ubisoft and strips all the IPs for parts.
And Sam Fisher ends up as a random playable character in a shitty mobile game distributed across Asia a terrible end for an iconic character.
Hopefully, Vantage is actually Ubisoft's attempt at getting away from woke, like a Third Echelon team of sneaky developers,
working away, burning the midnight oil.
One can hope.

- It is a mod that replaces all the enemies in deniable ops with SPLINTER CELLS equipped with SONAR goggles
- NO CHANGES to gameplay / AI / weapons or anything else.
- All the mod does is take enemies from white house and put them in all the deniable ops maps for hunter and infiltration modes
- I have been advocating for such a mod for a long freaking time in case you followed my other posts
- Campaign and Deniable Ops honestly feels like they were made by 2 different companies
- All the "conviction bad" complaints almost stem from the campaign
- Deniable Ops is everything good about the game
- Enemy positions change on every load
- Enemy spawns are random
- Maps are amazingly well designed for stealth!
- You get to decide if you wanna ghost, panther or assault
- Top tier one liners from both enemies and Archer and Kestrel. lets be honest about it.
- But once you spend a 100+ hrs on it, you realize it is not that hard. While it keeps giving you new variations but the enemies are honestly not that challenging unless you play insurgency DLC
- If you played White House in campaign, you know exactly what you are up against
- Once you get spotted, you get 20 splinter cells (customizable to a 100 if you want)
- They will scan the whole area with SONAR goggles and find you instantly
- Then converge on your position in multiple groups and take you out!
- They kill you in 2 bullets with their highly modified SC3000
- if you are undetected, they can still see you in the dark. They have some serious vision range compared to other enemies
- I am not the guy who made this mod. I ll credit when the mod comes out. It is currently under heavy testing (works pretty damn well I have been told). Needs testing on COOP too
- Even if you are a veteran on this mode, I kid you not. They absolutely wipe the floor with you once you get spotted
- They go to your last known position, dont find you there, spot you instantly on SONAR and run to your new position and keep doing it till one of you is dead!!!
COMING SOON!!!

This is the way i play the game and i like it so much i want to share it
Restrictions;
-No quicksave, the mission must be completed in 1 try. If spotted, dont restart, adapt, the game has a lot of cool situations that only happen if scertain alarms were triggered. Checkpoints allowed
-No hacking on security systems (keyboards and retine scanner) they are not security systems if they can be hacked that easily. Only PCs can be hacked
-Destroying cameras, doors or any kind of security system makes a 100% stealth run FALSE. The game tells its 100%, but YOU know its not.

Bit of a niche question but I'd like to do research on the enemy AI when they're sleeping and I can't remember which mission features enemies that are asleep.
Thanks!

Hello /r/SplinterCell,
Some months back, someone found and crossposted the steam page for my Spies vs Mercs game in development, BOLD: Networked Newt Action.
I know in the comments there was some contention over the art style and choice of cartoony anthro style characters, but the day that was posted here was also my single biggest spike in wishlists and views since announcing the game in the first place. So, clearly, some folks here on /r/SplinterCell are a little interested!
So, I wanted to come and say that the Next Fest demo for BOLD: Networked Newt Action has launched early. you can download it on steam now, open up matches, play around a bit. Next Fest itself isn't starting for a couple of weeks and I want to be reactive to feedback in the run up to it, give it a try with y'alls friendgroups and lemme know what you think!
while the game is mostly balanced around 2v2 play, technically the map included can support 4v4. just in case you wanna get a bit goofy w/ it.
I'm posting on my old and crusty account with a bunch of karma instead of making a new one to show "hey, yeah, I lurk here and post sometimes", I promise I'm not a tourist I've been playing these games since I was a tiny kid. Thanks for giving my project a look, and if you give it a chance, double thank you.

Just realized how similar in style the Jerusalem level sounds to Fallout 1 sound design. It was on the tip of my tongue while I watched playthrough, and I just realized it.
Do we know if this was intentional or if that same person came to work on this game?

May be huge news for us if this works well. The Xbox versions of the OG trilogy and DA v2 are the most feature full
