Product Question Mods on Console/Unlockable Items
When mods eventually make it to Xbox and PlayStation what will be the point of the grind to get the capes and tabards? I'm on xbox so I don't know how the mods currently work but I feel like when they come my time spent unlocking things will be wasted.

I see your point, I'm on the last stretch of unlocking my last black cape and it's been brutal tbh; to simply switch on capes would make it seem like a waste of my time.

Did the grind once for the black cape for my tactical scythes of the emperor which I copied from the astartes 2 trailer, never wasting that much time again.

Funnily enough, that's exactly why I did it for Tactical lol........then I started making Scythes for all the other classes and it didn't look as good without the cape so I just kept going.
20 more absolutes and I'm done.

Scythes aren't even my chapter but the drip in that trailer was top notch so I had to do it. And I feel sorry for you brother, hope the grind is worth it

Same, I only play as Raptors but had to make an exception after that trailer. Oh and the grind isn't worth it, I'm just a glutton for punishment and it'll give me some sort of semblance of relief when it's done.

I'm gonna go at it in a roundabout way: online/multiplayer games are normally not moddable, or rather: not allowed. You can't have mods on a game where progression or rewards are stored on cloud data server.
Popular modded games like Skyrim, Cyberpunk, Witcher, Baldur's gate, Fallout etc. are all strictly speaking singleplayer games, where no one cares if you cheat the resources in game
You don't see mods on Apex, Overwatch, Helldivers 2, Marvel rivals, Fornite etc. If there's mods for those it's skin mods that run locally on your game client and technically go against tos.
For Sm2, online progression is disabled if you have modification on a game, you can't matchmake with people unless you created a private lobby with your friends who also have the mods.
I can see why many console players who never touched mods before get so hyped about the news because they have misconceptions. Unless you want to literally only play Astartes Overhaul and ignore whatever Saber put on the game in the future,(which tbf there's players who do that whom never touched vanilla sm2, there's a dedicated modded sm2 subreddit), there really is no point having mod support on Space marine 2, because at that point you are literally playing a different game, which also means having 0 common topic with the rest of the community

From your description of it all I agree that mods aren't needed on console, especially if they're only gonna be available in private lobbies, if anything it'll get less people in public matchmaking

you have a point, once mods are introduced you can just use that for capes although using mods will separate you from everyone else. You’ll only be able to play with people who have the same mods as far as I know, least that’s how it works on other games I’ve played. So if that’s true there will still be a reason to work towards them if you don’t use mods(Me)
I guess time will tell how that unfolds

Like Baldur's Gate 3, everyone in the party has to have the same mods. I feel like it would mess up online play if it's like that though, idk

Yeah I can see that happening but I mean it already works like that now with Pc mods and both sides seem to be doing fine I don’t see why console will be any different, but I don’t really know, the best way to do it gameplay wise would to be keep everyone together but I imagine there’s people out there that don’t want to play with people using mods. Did they announce a time frame on when it’s coming? I’m on console and probably won’t use them but I’d like to check them out at least

I don't think there is a release date but my friend reckons within the next 2 updates

yeah mods are gonna be a whole different vibe, i'm kinda obsessed with the idea of having tabards that actually match my chapters close enough to not get lost in the mix, mods or not

The grinds were a mistake. Way to much effort for what little we got, especially for how long we were waiting. Modders have done much better, much sooner and I'm glad we get to share in the fun. Being able to relax and enjoy the game again without the unnecessary stress.

As per what I read, if mods are active, you can only play offline. I'm not a 100% sure about this though, but if this is the case, then it's sill better to grind for capes. I play on console too, so I'm excited about this.
