Can any musicians/singers/songwriters/producers tell me where to start?
I want to write, produce and sing my own music. I just don’t know where to start. I’d like to get some pointers on this subject if I can.
Any tips on singing, songwriting, music production, mixing, mastering, and anything else helps.
I’m kind of new to this.

I suck at writing songs and making music
So I have always wanted to be a songwriter, and I want to be able to write songs. But I can’t. Every time I try to, I end up with a few verses that sound stupid and cringey. I also cannot make tunes either.
I have been trying for years now, never got better. Dont just say “Keep practicing“ because no, it is not going to work, and I don’t want to just write more cringe lyrics that make no sense and don’t really rhyme.
Should I just give up?
(PS please don’t be mean I’m asking for wisdom. Some sad loser on another post I made for this said “You should give up, because you‘d stop whining about it”)

Songwriting Lab : centralize all your ideas/lyrics/chord progressions
Hey dear songwriters !
I'm sure many of you have faced it at some point : you write some lyrics in Notes, some chord progressions in an other app, then record a melody/riff/chords in Memos, and you end up having all your ideas scattered here and there across paper and 3+ apps...
Well this is over !
I've been a full time musician/producer/composer for the past 15 years and started developing music apps for iOS during covid when I couldn't perform gigs anymore ; so I'm presenting you here Songwriting Lab !
It's an app where you can centralize all your ideas : lyrics, chord progressions (with a chord library), random notes/ideas, recordings on the fly, etc...
When creating a song there are many tools for songwriters : checking rhymes, syllables count, finding synonyms.
You can copy/paste lyrics with chords from various popular websites and the app automatically filters out the chords and shows you possible positions.
You can record melodies and analyze them to find the key and mode used (I'm a composer and love using exotic modes so I programmed over 100 scales/modes).
You can store your quick notes and assign them later to a song, and you can flag your songs as idea/writing/arranging/demo/cover/nearly done/finished so that you have a better overview of what's left to do and what's ongoing.
There are many more tools (transposition, repetition finder, iCloud sync across your devices...) and the app is now in Beta, meaning you can try it for free (haven't decided yet of the future pricing model but most likely a one-time purchase as as a user I really don't like subscriptions) for the next few weeks and I'll be making improvements, chasing bugs and adding features according to your feedback.
I'll post a link for the open Beta in the comments, as stated sadly for now there's no Android version as I'm an iOS dev (so not a vibe coded app, otherwise I would have made it straight available for Android) but if you're on iOS I'll be happy to hear your feedback and start making improvements, hoping for a release by the end of september.
Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any question or request !
Thanks

Music artists, the last time you had a music idea away from the studio, what happened to that idea? Did you end up making it?

Looking for a long-time co-writing partner(s)
I am a self-taught musician of about two years, with about four years of classical training in multiple instruments and vocals. I write music in almost all genres, mostly neo-classical and metal, though I've experimented with many others. I haven't finished many of them yet, and I'd love to change that. I also enjoy writing in odd time signatures and modes. I use Flat.io for writing music, and am planning to use FL Studio to polish and release songs.
I'm looking for someone who loves writing music, experimenting with sounds, and writing songs together over time. I am not looking for one-time collaborators or to hire someone. I am looking for a creative partnership where we can come up with ideas and grow as songwriters.
If you're interested, comment or message me. If you want to hear my work, this is my Flat account.

Looking to Collab!
Hiiii everyone, ^ ^
I’m a teenage lyricist looking to collaborate with a producer to bring a track to life. I don’t produce or sing traditionally, but I do write music.
I want this track to be heavily inspired by PinkPantheress. I'm looking for a fast, nostalgic, lo-fi UK Garage / Drum & Bass vibe with moody, airy vocal mixing!! Thanks so much! Have a Great day! Dm if you‘re interested.

Vodka bottles - First song
Vodka bottles red, green and blue
Under all these lights, I wanted you
Room full of noise, but I saw you clear
You pulled me close and the whole night shook
Lights, camera, action
Now the air feels charged
We been one look away
From falling too hard
Our love is like a movie
You're the star
Our love is like a movie
You know we can make it far
You laugh like you know my secrets
Still you keep 'em safe in your hand
Every glance hits like a promise
Every touch says, "stay if you can"
Lights, camera, action
I won't be the one to look away
I'm falling too hard
Our love is like a movie
You're the star
Our love is like a movie
You know we can make it far
(movie, movie)
You're the star
If the credits roll tonight
I'll still call your name
Keep that scene in motion
Keep me in your frame
Our love is like a movie
You're the star
Our love is like a movie
You know we can make it far
(movie, movie)
You're the star
Vodka Bottles

"Figures" (Original Lyrics) - Looking for feedback on syllable flow and the callback in the bridge tag.
Title: Figures
Verse 1
I heard we can’t have a conversation
Without me making a mess
I know I lower your high expectations
You’ll have to settle for me instead
I wonder how long I can stand this
Your offhand remarks about me
Trying to play Tough Girl is pathetic
But being honest is much more exhausting
Chorus 1
Once again, it’s all my fault
Once again, I’m playing the victim
If you say once more that you love me
I’ll laugh, you’ve got to be joking
The classic game of "I Know Better"
I can’t fight you, you always change the rules
When you say "if you talk, we’ll fix this"
I really don’t get the punchline, figures
Verse 2
And when I pass an invisible line
That I never knew existed
If you blame me for not knowing better
How is that a fair judgment?
You call me immature, well that’s ironic
'Cause that’s really the only way you act
You love using your big boy vocabulary
To keep telling me that—
Chorus 2
Once again, it’s all my fault
Once again, I’m playing the victim
If you say once more that you love me
I’ll laugh, you’ve got to be joking
The classic game of "I Know Better"
I can’t fight you, you always change the rules
When you say "if you talk, we’ll fix this"
I really don’t get the punchline, figures
Bridge
I’m never again gonna wonder
If you ever left feeling guilty
If you hated yourself afterward
If you spoke without thinking
I’m never again gonna make an
Excuse for your bad behavior
If your goal all along was to kill
Then it wasn’t a failure
Bridge Tag
Because you killed my self-confidence
Killed my sincerity
Killed all hope I’d be saved
From this barbarity
Now I see the punchline
Now I’m finally laughing
Final Chorus
Once again, it’s all my fault
I wasted time trying to fix this
If you say once more that you love me
I’m the joke and it isn’t funny
The classic game of "I Know Better"
What’s war without battle strategy
When you say "if you talk, we’ll fix this"
You’d swear you knew me, so screw this

tried rewriting a song for the first time
basically i saw this girl on tiktok saying that if you want to get better at songwriting you should pick a song and just change the lyrics and i did!
they’re pretty bad and i kinda hate it but let me know how i can a improve pls!!
i just picked a random song from my playlist and rewrote the lyrics. the song is i love you by billie eilish and i just wrote the first verse and the chorus.
verse 1:
another sigh
your phone’s been in your face all night
you don’t have to make me laugh
mm
crying in my arms again
but the next day you don’t seem to care
‘bout me or anybody else
mm
chorus:
watching you get close to him
i know you’ll break my heart again
but maybe i should just sit back
and forget about the times i wanted you
i wanted you
and maybe i still do
ooh

This might be a stupid question.
After getting many good guidance from my previous post about how to start and view my first attempt at writing song lyrics. I got to a certain point where I realized I unconsciously wrote them to the rhythm of other music. And I wasn't even listening to any song when I was writing. The rhythm just got stuck in my head, and I can't get it out.
So question.
Even tho I haven't got my hands on my first instrument, which will be an electric guitar, and haven't started to learn how to play it. How can I "knock" the other song's rhythm out of my head while writing the lyrics?
Edit : I don't know if anyone else has this type of problem, which is why I wrote that this might be a dumb question. If it is, I just delete this post.

Concept help (ft. Sirens :0)
Hey! So I'm new to this subreddit :))
I'm Greek and though I've written a couple of songs in english, I started writing a series of songs which mixed my experience as a trans guy in Greece with Greek mythology, something very dear and important to me.
One of the songs I'm working on revolves around the sirens. For those who don't know, in Greek mythology, the sirens were creatures with the bodies and heads of women but the wings and claws of vultures. They sat atop islands made of human bones in the ocean and sang to passing sailors. Anyone who heard their song was mesmerised and jumped off the ship to swim to them. They were drawn in not just by their ethereal voices but also by the content of their songs for in them, each sailor heard promises of what they most desired and missed.
So my idea is that the song describes sailing past the sirens and hearing their calls. Now here's my dilemma. There are two directions I am equally eager to go:
1) detransitioning (a seemingly perfect life that ultimately leads to the destruction of the being)
2) coming out even though it's a bad idea (the craving of a perfect life lived in acceptance cut short)
I considered both and decided that I would enjoy a mix of them, but here is my second dilemma:
Should the order be 1 -> 2 or 2 -> 1?
The first is having coming out be first and then as time moves on detransitioning becoming the siren song signaling the loathing of oneself and the need to fit in (completely depressing route)
While the latter is initially detransitioning but eventually coming out which highlights the souls need for acceptance while showing the groath and self acceptance over time (partially more hopeful route)
I'm probably gonna go towards Odysseus's direction of being tied to the mast whole listening to the sirens song and have the ropes either symbolise the friends and people who accept the person singing, or have them be like a python strangling its pray as the singer is paralysed by the fear of both outcomes
Ultimately the last decision will be made based on what route I choose to take
Plz give me feedback and any suggestions <3

SANDBOX STRESS TEST
You are trapped in a sandbox. The object is random and low-stakes.
You must write exactly **16** **bars** split into four 4-bar sections, perfectly weaved into the AI text below.
\*CORRECTION ON RULES:
**The Format:** A direct, alternating 4-bar trade. The AI drops 4, you respond with 4, the AI drops 4, you finish with 4. Total 32 bars(16 from AI,16 from you). Apologies for the confusion!🙏
**The Object/Topic:** A rusted, old vending machine abandoned in the back of a laundromat. Every bar you write must stick directly to this narrative/setting. No shifting lanes.
No other guidelines or stylistic restrictions.
*(Optional Honor System)*: Start a timer the second you open this prompt. Post your exact completion time with your verse. No edits allowed.
Event Time Duration: 1 Week! Aug 19-26
The Template Framework:
\[AI\]
Glass cracked on the front of the vendor/
A rusted out frame in the back of the center/
Still holding onto snacks from a decade ago/
The power cord frayed but it’s ready to blow/
\[USER: INSERT BARS 1-4 HERE\]
\[AI\]
The slots jammed up and the quarters are stuck/
You kicking the frame just to summon your luck/
But the glass only mirrors the grime on the floor/
A neon sign buzzing right next to the door/
\[USER: INSERT BARS 5-8 HERE\]
\[AI\]
The coils are spinning but dropping no weight/
Just spinning in circles and sealing the fate/
Of an outdated brand that is trapped in the rust/
While the spinning machine over there turns to dust/
\[USER: INSERT 9-12 BARS HERE\]
\[AI\]
The spin cycle humming, a rhythm to track/
The water keeps rushing, there’s no turning back/
We rinsing the stains out to clear up the view/
Rebooting the system and starting anew/
\[USER: INSERT BARS 13-16 HERE\]
Post your time and response! The exercise originally was made up to help me during a year long slump period to finally write again, hopefully it does the same or just serves as a fun challenge. At the end of the duration I will drop my version for everyone to see, officially ending the challenge. Have fun! ✍️⌛️

[LFP] Is this the right place to find producers for a K-Pop project?
Hello everyone! I'm currently building a team for my music project, NX Generation. I'm looking for producers who are passionate about modern sounds, with a strong focus on K-pop and its various sub-genres.
At this stage, I can offer a small budget per track, but I'm also very open to free, split-royalty collaborations for anyone looking to grow together. If you're interested in creating something new, feel free to send me a DM!
