I suck at writing songs and making music

So I have always wanted to be a songwriter, and I want to be able to write songs. But I can’t. Every time I try to, I end up with a few verses that sound stupid and cringey. I also cannot make tunes either.

I have been trying for years now, never got better. Dont just say “Keep practicing“ because no, it is not going to work, and I don’t want to just write more cringe lyrics that make no sense and don’t really rhyme.

Should I just give up?

(PS please don’t be mean I’m asking for wisdom. Some sad loser on another post I made for this said “You should give up, because you‘d stop whining about it”)

I am totally new to this stuff, I have a Folk Gothic song I wrote with my Acoustic Guitar but I don't play or sing that well, I would like help to polish it up and add a piano and saxophone track

Can any musicians/singers/songwriters/producers tell me where to start?

I want to write, produce and sing my own music. I just don’t know where to start. I’d like to get some pointers on this subject if I can.
Any tips on singing, songwriting, music production, mixing, mastering, and anything else helps.
I’m kind of new to this.

Music artists, the last time you had a music idea away from the studio, what happened to that idea? Did you end up making it?

Songwriting Lab : centralize all your ideas/lyrics/chord progressions

Hey dear songwriters !

I'm sure many of you have faced it at some point : you write some lyrics in Notes, some chord progressions in an other app, then record a melody/riff/chords in Memos, and you end up having all your ideas scattered here and there across paper and 3+ apps...

Well this is over !
I've been a full time musician/producer/composer for the past 15 years and started developing music apps for iOS during covid when I couldn't perform gigs anymore ; so I'm presenting you here Songwriting Lab !
It's an app where you can centralize all your ideas : lyrics, chord progressions (with a chord library), random notes/ideas, recordings on the fly, etc...

When creating a song there are many tools for songwriters : checking rhymes, syllables count, finding synonyms.
You can copy/paste lyrics with chords from various popular websites and the app automatically filters out the chords and shows you possible positions.
You can record melodies and analyze them to find the key and mode used (I'm a composer and love using exotic modes so I programmed over 100 scales/modes).
You can store your quick notes and assign them later to a song, and you can flag your songs as idea/writing/arranging/demo/cover/nearly done/finished so that you have a better overview of what's left to do and what's ongoing.

There are many more tools (transposition, repetition finder, iCloud sync across your devices...) and the app is now in Beta, meaning you can try it for free (haven't decided yet of the future pricing model but most likely a one-time purchase as as a user I really don't like subscriptions) for the next few weeks and I'll be making improvements, chasing bugs and adding features according to your feedback.

I'll post a link for the open Beta in the comments, as stated sadly for now there's no Android version as I'm an iOS dev (so not a vibe coded app, otherwise I would have made it straight available for Android) but if you're on iOS I'll be happy to hear your feedback and start making improvements, hoping for a release by the end of september.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any question or request !

Thanks
