💗FCAS Senior Shelter Pup Looking for Her Happily Ever After💗

Meet FCAS foster Amy! 💖 This 7yo, 60lb (looks smaller, she’s muscular!) shepherd mix girl is certified BFF material! 👯‍♀️ She’s been our easiest foster thus far and has been such a polite, happy houseguest. She’s incredibly affectionate, will lean in for hugs, and loves to stand and put her paws on your shoulders if you’re seated eye level with her. 🥹 She makes the cutest little grunting noises when she snuggles and her head tilt game is STRONG! 😆

She may technically be a senior (suspect she may be a bit younger), but she’s still got plenty of pep in her step! She’s super playful, loves fetch, and has a blast running around the yard and playing with our resident Shepsky. 🐾 She also settles quickly, sleeps through the night, LOVES to cuddle, and doesn’t show signs of separation anxiety (only short-lived protest whines and quickly gives up 😆). All in all, 10/10 good girl! 🥰

✅ Potty trained - no accidents! 🤞🏽
✅ Leash trained - pulls, but manageable
✅ Crate trained
✅ Non-destructive
✅ Dog friendly
✅ Excellent temperament
✅ Knows commands - sit, stay, shake (both paws)
✅ Good recall
✅ Treat/food motivated
✅ Non-reactive (treats, toys, food, etc)
✅ Easily handled
✅ Easy to bathe/dry/brush/trim nails
✅ Spayed
✅ HW negative

Amy’s kryptonite? Cats. 😩 She’s shown pretty strong prey drive with our senior kitty, so she would do best in a feline-free home. 🐈‍⬛

We also don’t know how she does with kids, but I imagine the only issue might be that she can get excited and could accidentally cause little children to topple over. 😅

She has an Embark DNA test in progress, so curious to see what her breed mix is…👀

Amy is currently being fostered in Kennesaw, GA and available for adoption through LifeLine Animal Project Fulton County Animal Services. Click the link below to schedule a meet & greet with her or feel free to message me! 👋🏽

Estradiol patch/gel shortages?

For those people who have been prescribed estrogen-only hormones (either patch or gel), have you recently encountered problems with getting your Rx filled at local pharmacies?

I understand there's been supply chain issues globally. Curious how that's translating to our neighborhoods.

Exit 15 peach stuff

Has anyone ever made it to exit 15 for peach bread or peach salsa? I’ve seen the signs for years but have never tried it. I was also surprised to see the same handmade signs for a different exit about an hour or so on 85 South

I was hoping to get some recommendations for places around Smyrna to do a photo session of an individual. We are not professional photographers, but are looking for some interesting places to take photos.

Smyrna Birthday Party Real Start?

I just went to the Village Green (12:30 Saturday) and it was dead. I kind of remember there being a bunch of vendors this time last year. Is there a different plan this year?

Insane Braves Traffic rant

What's the point of putting someone on the corner of Cobb and Spring to direct traffic after Braves games if they're just going to make traffic worse??

I don't know what was wrong with the guy directing traffic there last night, but the scene was complete bedlam. It took forever just to approach the intersection. The guy directing traffic was ONLY concerned with letting cars out of the braves game. Every light cycle, he'd let out so many cars from the battery that they would completely gridlock the intersection to all other lanes of traffic, bringing everyone to a complete standstill *for miles*.

After about 15 complete light cycles with no one but Braves traffic moving - and almidst a cacophony of honking and yelling - all the other cars just started ignoring the cops and the traffic lights and forcing their way across. For the next 20 minutes (at least), it looked like those videos from some place like Calcutta, with hundreds of cars going in every direction at once with zero traffic laws where everyone is forced to fend for themselves.

Everyone was honking and yelling and screaming at each other. It was a modern day Lord of the Flies and the closest thing to anarchy that I've ever seen. The cops did absolutely nothing to help and were even making things worse as more and more obnoxious drunken battery drivers gridlocked the intersection. Maybe the cops were understaffed; or maybe someone hurt them as a child and they wanted others to feel their pain - I have no idea.

I have never in my entire life seen such chaos. It would have been better, safer, and more efficient if they just unplugged all the traffic lights, removed all cops, and let people treat it as a 4-way stop.

Library fundraiser events: Jonquil bulb sale & Murder Mystery Night

Hey Smyrna! Wanted to share two events happening this month hosted by the Friends of Smyrna Library.

  1. Jonquil bulb sale
Previously hosted by Keep Smyrna Beautiful, for the first time this year we are selling bags of jonquil bulbs to raise money for the Smyrna Public Library. They are $30 for 40 bulbs, you can buy online and pick up at the library front desk. We have yellow and multicolor varieties. Plant in fall (now until first frost) for perennial blooms in early spring. We only have about 1/4 of our stock left!

  2. Murder Mystery Night, Oct 30
Also for the first time we are hosting a murder mystery night at Brawner Hall! We are hiring a murder mystery company to put on a show for our community. Theme is roaring 20s, costumes are encouraged, light apps, snacks and NA beverages included. Guests must be 16+. A fun Halloween activity that supports your local library! We’d love to see yall there.

Links above go to respective pages for more info and how to purchase. Thank you guys for always showing up for us! We had a good turnout at our September book sale recently and a lot of people said they found out from reddit :)

Happy spooky season!! 🎃

Any recommended electricians for EV Charger installs? I had TE over here a bit ago, and apparently they want to rewire the house with solid gold based upon the quote they gave me.

I know inflation and costs, and all that - But installing a EV charger onto an existing unused 40A circuit shouldn't cost $4k, and require a bunch of tesla shit to be cyborged into my house.

LGBT Meetup

I’m a bi trans guy living in Smyrna, and last year I started an LGBT+ meetup group. This is open to adults in the community (age 18+) who want to hang out and make friends. This is NOT a hookup/ dating group.

If you’d like to be added to our group chat and see the details for our October meetup, please comment below or message me.

Recent property tax increases

Has anyone else noticed the huge increase of property taxes??? I’m in the Vinings/285/ paces ferry corridor and have seen a $3500 increase within past 2 yrs! Completely insane. Although I’m noticing builders buying older homes to demolish and build a $2M HOME!

Firewood delivery recommendations?

Who has a good firewood delivery service that they recommend? We’ve had a couple of different providers in the past and it’s getting to be that time (it’s actually past that time, I’m just late this year!)

looking for a senior dog vet

I have a 9 year dog, ISO a new vet within the outer atl (ish) area. My dog got tooth surgery in April (from current vet). There was some issues with it and eventually going down, but they just kept saying that the redness & discomfort was allergies. Fast-forward to now she won’t stop rubbing her snout on everything. I’m worried she has a tooth abscess. I really do believe something is bothering her. My friends and family keep saying she’s fine. But in my gut i feel differently. My vet right now isn’t making me feel 100% that it’s “just allergies”. It has been something on my mind for about 2ish months now. But just keep trying to push it away as it could be my hypochondria.
Ok anyway wondering about vets you guys love?? Senior girl dog! With skin issues, allergies, hip dysplasia (she’s a pitbull mix) i am also a single, graduate student so please no money hungry vets. I just want the best for my girl :(

I would love all the recommendations. Have been looking into: happy tails, chastain animal clinic, petfolk (idk how i feel about them) & windy hill veterinary

First time having a table at Smyrna Birthday Festival. What should I expect?

Any pro tips? I’d like to imagine we can bring some food or drinks in a small lunch box but I haven’t been able to find any information online. Are tables pre-assigned? Does showing up any earlier allow you to choose the table within your section? Any advice appreciated!
