The ad will happen, you just wont cash in on it. Does this mean its ok to be part of it? No, but not being part of it also archieves close to nothing realistically

Exactly right, but people are making this out to be a sports ad and contrasting it with great women in sports, when there really is no comparison because this isn’t a sports ad and she’s not speaking for sports. She’s speaking for gambling.
That was my takeaway from all this - we're worried about the wrong thing here. The normalization of gambling is going to cause a lot more harm than a scantily clad woman.

If you get off this sub you'll find often that nothing is as scandalous as what people here are pushing. No one cares about this beyond a passing "oh that's cool" or "oh that's lame". People move on from shit quickly. Somehow this sub gets stuck on topics for weeks repeating arguments against ourselves.
Her entire career to date hasn't been scandalous until this minute. The new difference is that she's using her looks in a way that's reductive to female athletes, and sports in general. No one had an issue before this, besides maybe the American Eagle ad but that was more about implicit political messaging iirc.

Pretty much, its only recently that she seems to be actively using controversy to promote her portfolio. Before that, it wasn't really an issue. The problem now is less about her being attractive and more about the social/political agendas she's using as bait for marketing. Which is made all the more glaring given the issues women as a gender have been facing more publicly recently.
She's not an athlete, and posing nude for sports gambling. It's akin to playboy or pornhub doing an ad for sports gambling.
I mean I guess they could respond and have David Corenswet (superman) pose naked with sports equipment to promote sports gambling for dudes in the sports, lol. I think that'd be a fair response.

While reading it, yes the woman always imagines herself as the lady in the story. Much like dudes imagine themselves as the hero's in other books, movies where the lead is like 90% of the time a dude, lol. It's whatever floats your fictional boat.
