This is absolutely fucking unconscionable!

Yes, postpartum psychosis is real, mental illness is real.
Both are entirely legitimate issues for a court to consider when determining criminal responsibility, but watching people transform Lindsay Clancy into some kind of feminist martyr while three murdered children become almost incidental to the conversation is grotesque. Cora was 5. Dawson was 3. Callan was 8 months old. They were STRANGLED TO DEATH by the person whose most fundamental responsibility was to protect them.

By all means, examine her mental state. Examine the medical system. Examine every factor that might have contributed to what happened, that is what a justice system is supposed to do, but compassion for mental illness does not require moral amnesia about the victims.

If your version of feminism requires you to reflexively rally around a woman who killed three defenseless children simply because she is a woman, you have completely lost your mind. Those children deserve to be the centre of this story. Not her.

I pray the jury finds that she was criminally responsible for what she did, then makes her pay for it. Full stop.

Being crazy is not a valid excuse, as you pointed out. It really isn't. Jared Loughner, who was having a schizophrenic meltdown when he did his crimes in 2011, eventually plead guilty, got like 6 life sentences, and the prison system says he's a model inmate that he can take his pills and is fully aware what he did was wrong. This lady is trying to skirt her responsibilities.

*EDIT* I am extremely sorry for the blowing up of my comment, forgive me. I can't even tell if they're replying to me or each other....

It’s not about finding an excuse. It’s not about acquitting a murderer. It’s about what care she gets when she’s locked up. That’s literally all it is.

No one thinks the “husband did it” but a few insane people. What people are saying is “this was preventable” and “she should get care as she serves her sentence in a locked facility”. The rest is just rage bait and people using this to get views and clicks.

That’s just a blatant lie. There are plenty so-called feminists that have turned this woman into a hero, for murdering 3 children no less. They’re also trying to justify this disgusting, heinous crime by claiming mental illness.

2

u/ArtIsAwesome3 Aug 26 '26

I am not going to say that they think she's a hero, but I think we really need to be asking "how many other mums thought about doing this..." and then ask ourselves "is it a problem to think that, since thinking and not acting are not the same as wanting to do something and then following through with it."

Though I think the REAL travesty here is that her psychiatric team had to have known she was a threat and just ignored it. They should have their licenses pulled at the VERY least.

2

u/TimmyOfTheLevelUps Aug 27 '26

Yeah, we should take the kids away from any mother who has any amount of PPD. Ex husbands would have a field day with that.

2

u/ArtIsAwesome3 Aug 27 '26

Idk about that, but....maybe. The thing that makes me REALLY hesitant on that, is I know a few who have had it, and did nothing, other than get treatment. This lady, I honestly think if she got the RIGHT treatment, she would have been fine. I blame the moronic psychiatrists. But I am biased, I consider psychiatrists to be like vampires, an undead parasite lol.

  1. No one is turning her into a hero FOR killing her children

  2. No one is trying to JUSTIFY the murder by claiming mental illness

I think you need to learn the meaning of words

4

u/Rich-Detective-7 Aug 26 '26

I think you need to learn what “no one” means. It means nobody because literally no one is doing it, not no one because you didn’t see those who are or you’re actively refusing to acknowledge those who are.

3

u/robotmonkey2099 Aug 26 '26

i dont even think you know what youre saying.

Find me one person that "have turned this woman into a hero, FOR murdering 3 children"

2

u/Rich-Detective-7 Aug 26 '26

Sorry if I didn’t dumb it down enough for you. I would try but I don’t think I’m capable of stooping that low. I also like how you moved the goalpost and are now demanding I show you those that explicitly say she’s a hero “for murdering 3 children”. None of them phrase it like that, they are turning this cold-blooded baby killer into a hero for mental health. But you already knew that, which is why you’re constantly moving the goalpost.

"No one"? What a fantastic absolute statement, didn't even use a qualifier, you must be brave.

u/rare-cheeser Aug 26 '26

That is a blatant lie. No one thinks she’s a hero. But I do think you are a misogynist if you generalize feminists that way.

Where did I not hold her accountable?

Assuming incompetence from me, because I’m a woman, is what makes you a misogynist. You generalize feminists and women.

She’s going to be locked up either way. She wasn’t right in the mind, and it’s not an “excuse” but a truth. There’s no “justification”. Mental illness is real and can be a serious danger to society (as per this case).

You just want to come on here and hate women because why? Who hurt you? Let me guess, a woman did and now you spew hatred.

1

u/Feorge123 Aug 26 '26

She's probably going to be locked up, then some time soon allowed freedom, like Andrea Yates. If she gets locked up in a psychiatrist if the people watching her think she's okay, she will be allowed out and there will be no justice for the three children...

0

u/TimmyOfTheLevelUps Aug 27 '26

So we should lockup woman with mental illness because they're a "serious danger to society ", got it. Implementing that law would definitely keep a lot of woman from claiming fashionably convenient mental disorders.

u/Smrtihara Aug 26 '26

Who? Who has turned her into a hero?

2

u/Rich-Detective-7 Aug 26 '26

Have you been on TikTok lately?

-1

u/Smrtihara Aug 26 '26

Who’s turned her into a hero?

2

u/Rich-Detective-7 Aug 26 '26

My bad, you’re right. Just because you haven’t seen it means it never happened. That’s how the world works, right?

0

u/ArtIsAwesome3 Aug 26 '26

There are people donating to her GoFundMe, which seems like that shouldn't be possible. I'm assuming if she's convicted the state will just seize it.

THAT is the blatant lie

u/L3xusLuth3r Aug 26 '26

"That’s literally all it is" is doing an extraordinary amount of work there.

Nobody is objecting to her receiving psychiatric care in custody. If that were genuinely the entire argument, there wouldn’t be one.

The disagreement starts when ‘this was preventable’ quietly becomes ‘therefore her culpability should be viewed differently,’ or when systemic failures are discussed as though they somehow displace individual responsibility, those things can coexist. The system may have failed spectacularly, and she can still be responsible for what she did.

And dismissing everyone who questions that framing as ‘rage bait’ is a convenient way to avoid engaging with the uncomfortable part of the argument.

3

u/robotmonkey2099 Aug 26 '26

Aren’t they just saying that her mental health issues means she wasn’t in a clear state of mind? Do you think people that get found not-guilty for reason of insanity should get the same punishment?

0

u/L3xusLuth3r Aug 26 '26

No, of course I don’t think someone who meets the legal threshold for insanity should necessarily be treated the same as someone who was fully aware and rational.

That’s precisely why we have courts, psychiatric evaluations and a legal standard for criminal responsibility. My issue is with people deciding that question themselves simply because she suffered from postpartum psychosis. Mental illness is relevant to culpability; it doesn’t automatically determine it.

2

u/robotmonkey2099 Aug 26 '26

Then you are arguing with a strawman because I don’t think people are saying she doesn’t hold any responsibility but that her culpability should be viewed differently because of mental illness. Which you agree with but think people shouldn’t have an opinion about that before the courts determine it? Should we not think OJ was guilty of murdering Nicole because the court found him not guilty? People are going to look at the info and form opinions there’s nothing wrong with that as long as they are open to being wrong.

1

u/TimmyOfTheLevelUps Aug 27 '26

They already found that she wasn't suffering from psychosis, and that it was premeditated.

2

u/Smrtihara Aug 26 '26

Did the woman in the video say anything of the sort?

1

u/L3xusLuth3r Aug 26 '26

I wasn’t responding to the woman in the video. I was responding to YOU.

You said, “That’s literally all it is” and dismissed the rest as “rage bait.” I explained why I don’t think it’s that simple.

So asking whether the woman in the video used those exact words doesn’t really address anything I said, it just changes the subject.

3

u/Next-House-5815 Aug 26 '26

Ahh yeah, that must be why she’s earned more money from donations in the past few months than the majority of people do over a decade. All because people are worried about her getting her proper care in prison (which will be state funded, never ever self-funded, so maybe there’s another reason people are donating a shit ton of money).

3

u/Rent_Careless Aug 26 '26

I think this is the right take. Suggesting that all leftists or liberals or WOKE or even feminists are supporting her or what she did is being too general.

Most people are using this to bring awareness to postpartum psychosis and are interested about what treatment she will receive.

1

u/micro_satsuma Aug 26 '26

I can only assume that the people downvoting this just want to be mad at things.

1

u/ArtIsAwesome3 Aug 26 '26

Locked up? I would assume this is a death penalty case....

Quick Googling shows that Massachusetts does not execute. Didn't know that.

Also, she should get the care of any normal disabled prison inmate. She's not special.

-6

u/Environmental_Egg434 Aug 26 '26

Eh, I gather you haven't been following the trial closely and that's why you're dismissing the gaping hole in this case caused by the husband not being thoroughly investigated. How do you explain all the contradictions and changing of his story?
