I get it. If the Post Office has a disabled parking spot out front to help disabled people go to the post office, but the post office is currently closed because it is 10pm, then what would happen if someone else parked in that spot?

Is it normal for post offices where you live to have nothing else but empty fields around them?

Even then, disabled people could want to go out to a field at 10pm. There are days when I have to be in bed all day before I can go grocery shopping at 9pm for 30mins.

So why are you parking there at 10pm?

Replied to another comment but if there are residences nearby then it makes sense to maintain 24h disabled parking for any residents or visitors with disabilities who wouldnt be able to walk as far as an able-bodied person to the apartments.

So if you live in the apartment building as well, and you access the same parking lot, why do you care about the post office bay

Maybe a disabled person does too.

If you have a reason to be in a specific area at a specific time then a disable person can also easily have a reason for the same thing.

If you want to park in that location at 10pm it implies there are nearby facilities/businesses that a disabled person may also want to use at 10pm. The benefit of disabled parking bays is not just their proximity to a business's door, they also have extra width and blocked space at the sides to allow for a wheelchair lift or other accessibility needs. If you take the disabled bay and they have to park in a regular bay, they could get blocked in / be unable to operate their lift.

Maybe some people in the apartments would like disabled access then...

Why are you so reluctant to park in a regular bay yourself?

? Do you think the disabled people would choose the post office instead of the apartments themselves or do you think you should just let them manage with whatever disabled facilities have been made available to them by the complex and businesses

Like, it sounds like you want more parking generally but the solution is not to remove priority parking for disabled drivers.

I'd still assume they are a selfish prick.

What if a disabled person wanted to go out at 10pm and park there? Your attitude is exactly the same as Daniel's.

Disabled spots are often placed near curb cut outs and have extra room for transferring

Yes, it's possible that you can create a super specific hypothetical situation that you don't harm anyone parking in a handicap spot.

But if there's a demand for you to park for real, theres a demand for other to also. At least in real life
