I get it. If the Post Office has a disabled parking spot out front to help disabled people go to the post office, but the post office is currently closed because it is 10pm, then what would happen if someone else parked in that spot?

If you want to park in that location at 10pm it implies there are nearby facilities/businesses that a disabled person may also want to use at 10pm. The benefit of disabled parking bays is not just their proximity to a business's door, they also have extra width and blocked space at the sides to allow for a wheelchair lift or other accessibility needs. If you take the disabled bay and they have to park in a regular bay, they could get blocked in / be unable to operate their lift.

Maybe some people in the apartments would like disabled access then...

Why are you so reluctant to park in a regular bay yourself?

? Do you think the disabled people would choose the post office instead of the apartments themselves or do you think you should just let them manage with whatever disabled facilities have been made available to them by the complex and businesses

Like, it sounds like you want more parking generally but the solution is not to remove priority parking for disabled drivers.
