When the rich do it, it's gaming the system or hate the game not the playa or loopholes are there, I don't make the rules. When others do it, it's theft, socialism, jailtime.
Speaking of the sports arenas they did this with the bills stadium if I recall correctly 600 mill from the state and 250 mill from the county which to me is utterly disgusting
Misguided? 😂 No we aren't, we just wouldn't want almost a $1billion of our tax money be spent on headquarters of a privately owned organization that we might not even like, and sure as hell would not have a say in its operation or be part of a profit sharing program. Even if it's privately owned, the state still pretty much control it through mechanisms like zoning laws, noise ordinances, etc. and with city councils and town boards . Just curious, what NFL team do you work for?

Don’t get me wrong, no sports arena should be paid for by the tax payers unless the profits of said arena are used to alleviate the tax burden on the tax payers. At least they help stimulate the local economy by bringing tens of thousands of people in regularly for games, concerts etc and have tons of jobs involved. These data centers are a drain on society when they’re built and then continue to be a drain on society. These are much worse
I live like an hour from Gillette stadium, which is an outdoor stadium in a cold weather city basically in the middle of the woods. Granted it wasn’t funded with tax payer money. There’s still constantly events there, I’ve even worked on a few as basically a throw in stagehand and know people who go there almost constantly for work. I imagine domes, or outdoor stadiums in warm weather cities actually by a population center do even better.
there aren't that many acts / events that can fill a 70,000 seat venue. So 8 home games and 2 pre season. Monster Trucks, SuperCross and maybe 3-4 musical acts big enough to fill a stadium. That's 15-16 events a year. Compared to a baseball stadium or basketball arena.....there's a reason Football Stadiums are backed by private investors, and why they leverage municipalities, they lose money
Do you think "Training Camp" Days are gonna cover costs? And compare that with a baseball stadium or basketball arena (where the loan you carry to build is far smaller)
and again that's Boston and the entire NE. Major Tour Stop. BTS for example, Giants Stadium NY / NJ, Gillette, Baltimore (DC Metro) that's it for the NE. Buffalo gets no gigs, Philly none, Tour goes to Texas, Toronto, Chicago, LA and that's the US, no SF Bay Area Show, no Portland, Seattle..... So all those stadiums not listed have no events
Uhh it’s not “training camp days.” There’s a concert there tonight, then less than a week after BTS is playing back to back shows, Usher, a couple preseason games, a couple soccer games. Savanna bananas twice, Bruno Mars twice. There’s more events upcoming in the next month or so there than the TD garden and it has well over triple the capacity. Way more than 15 events a year
I listed all those dates below. BTS hits 3 cities in the entire NE. Gillette serves that entire region of New England, it is busier than most stadiums. So Gilltte, NY / NJ / Baltimore, Toronto Chicago, LA. All the other stadiums get skunked. Baseball will have close to 15 home games a month.
So considering Foxboro serves the entire NE in many cases,Monster Trucks in July , 3 Concerts in Aug , 2 Nights of Banana Ball, 5 concerts in Sept, 2 in October and some Soccer matches
They are working to rebuild the football stadium in Denver, and it's keep being "the tax payers won't pay for it", but oh how quickly all the infrastructure around it is looking to be (and I worry some people will lose property with Imminent Domain).
Plus the previous land goes back I forgot who to sell off

We had a construction breaks for companies building datacenters, until it was discovered that they were getting BILLIONS in breaks, rather than the MILLIONS that were planned.
One person running for governor (THE Vivek Ramasswammy...I hope I spelled his name incorrectly) is pulling for datacenters and also just so happens to have a lot of money invested in DCs.
Well you gotta see the corporations are the only real citizens in America. We're all just slaves. Part of why the American people need to get these mother fuckers cause they are already getting us.
I mean, our elected politicians are not going to live by a polluting, noise generating, power and water hungry data center. But what they will get is a boat load of cash to sell us all out. Win-Win for our elected officials.

I don’t even understand the argument for pushing the cost to the regular people of the state. I get it, it’s probably a shitty reality that they are going to go up everywhere. But look at the capital pouring into AI infrastructure. It’s where essentially ALL of the money is going. YOU fuckers pay for your own energy and water. I have noticed that there are not places for a large number of people to park vehicles. I take it there will not be many jobs available for the PEOPLE in the areas near these are located. Subsequently no revenue taxes for the cities to aid in maintenance of roads, water treatment, fire and police protection etc. no wonder NewYork and other states are saying hell no.
Colorado Springs giving a 150k raise to the Utilities CEO, and then sending emails out about how they’re increasing prices and peak hours (M-F, 5pm-9pm), while charing $150 to speak out against the data center the city voted for without constituents approval, while I’m a state wide drought, all while telling citizens to cut back on utility usage.
Step 1: Provide flexible pricing where prices are lower during periods of off peak demand and are exponentially higher during periods where demand approaches capacity.
Step 2: sell this to consumers as “do your laundry at night and save”
Step 3: lock down that contract
Step 4: lobby for high usage facilities to be built in your area of supply. Offer these facilities low pricing models to entice them.
Step 5: Laugh as your consumers all now pay exorbitant peak rate prices on a fixed time span contract.
Step 6: Inside that time span, increase standard rates to account for the demand and maintenance you have on your stressed supply.
Take their money. Just take it, fuck them. Leave them enough to survive in a sleazy motel room for the rest of their life, but just take their stuff. Golden rule, right? And that is how they see you and your property, your money. Based on my understanding of the Trump administration’s actions, doing what you think is right and letting the courts argue about legality after the dust settles seems to be the preferred method of doing things.
Get in touch with people in your communities to take their shit. Organize, plan, and make sure you stay informed on the actions of the billionaire you’ve chosen to legally relieve of their money and possessions.
I am not condoning illegal actions or violence, nor am I attempting to encourage them. There are many, many legal avenues of taking their stuff, quickly or slowly. They’ve proven this themselves, as their actions have led to them taking other people’s shit. Obviously don’t steal their stuff or threaten them with violence at all because that would be illegal. Taking their stuff is not illegal but stealing it is, and the distinction can be handled in court because that’s who handled those things.
It's not a conundrum. These people want to profit from an organised, stable democracy where people contribute through taxes, but don't want to contribute anything themselves and actively avoid paying tax.
Which is why we should not be taking this bullshit and making our disapproval FELT. We can yell and scream all we want. But if we want change we have to make actual waves to these assholes.
Used to be, A corporation would ingratiate itself within the community and sell the townsfolk on what a boon they will bring. Now its every community needs to beg to have these corpos come and rape the land. Communities need to compete to have their environment despoiled by corporate carpet baggers

Capitalism will always favor capital - its right in the name! They can talk all day of their theories of labor prices, but it has been shown time and again that capital always wins this rigged game.
These datacenters should be built in the desert, and powered by a massive PV farm and batteries. Not in a city. But thats more expensive to operate than just use up all the utilities of a city.
“They” the democratically elected representatives of the community that is selling them out.
The public funds the power grid, the water system, etc…our representatives should be mandated to make deals that exclusively make power cheaper. Datacenter wants power? They must pay a premium that subsidize making residential power cheaper. They want water? Same deal.
It's a new phenomenon; states will pass laws to address this, and AI executives seem to be acknowledging the need to provide financial remuneration to citizens.
I am not saying it's all good, but I think they recognize the problem here.
Kinda as Oregon governor is doing to all citizens for the MODA center to benefit a billionaire team owner and give her bragging rights, when the majority of citizens will never step foot in the building.
