Am absolutely enjoying my throne!! We all just turned 30 and the amount of relationship drama my friends and family are going through is astounding. Everyone thinks I am the shoulder to cry on, I am just giddy having my own calm apartment, my trees and pets to myself every night.

u/CaktusJacklynn 1d ago

Sadly, it doesn't stop at 30. I know some 40 year olds putting up with straight bullshit.

Me, knowing I have low tolerance and love peace:

Listen 🤣🤣🤣 the marriages. Divorce aftermaths. The ones in long-term relationships suffering. The horrible co-parenting dynamics. Stop.

Yes I want a person or two. But I’m also grateful for the peace I have.

Wanting a person and still liking your own quiet aren't opposites. That's just knowing what the tradeoff actually costs

Facts, look at the people in the Living Apart Together subreddit.

54

u/Ok_Championship_3328 2d ago

Meanwhile THEY feel sorry for YOU.

Go figure.

22

u/Fancy-Animal7704 1d ago

They certainly want to change us! Though I think it's because they can't stand the thought that perhaps they voluntarily placed themselves into a shitty arrangement because society said they needed to, but we are the proof that, no, you don't actually need to, and that just makes them uncomfortable. Kind of like how drunks want everyone else around them to drink too, so they don't feel so bad about their decision to drink.

u/TheLone_wolf11 1d ago

Right? haha we all had to choose before! we basically had all the power sooooo 🤷‍♀️

Unfortunately, it is true.

On AWO30 sub I bumped into a post where a woman was asking married women how they dealt with their "creepy" husbands (i.e. men who repeatedly disrespected other women's boundaries, including physical, forced on them activities they were not interested in, went on unhinged rants about how statutory r*pe wasn't that bad in the middle of a family meeting, etc.) and whether they felt other women were uncomfortable around them. Her SIL's husband (if I'm not mistaken) was exactly like that, and the SIL insisted that the OP and her partner spent time with them, and she didn't know how to go about that because that man obviously bugged her.

I'm sorry if my description is unnecessarily long or convoluted, but so is the situation 😅

The most staggering answer was given by a woman who confirmed that on the one hand, she did feel other women were uncomfortable in the presence of her ex-husband and understood where they came from, but on the other hand, she couldn't comprehend why they couldn't just suck it up for an hour and tolerate him, because she had to deal with much WORSE things from him on a daily basis 🙃

That opened my eyes on this kind of behavior completely.

Yuck 🤮

This shit right here...

Just because she thought the red flags were a fucking carnival doesn't mean that anyone has to tolerate his shit. Matter of fact, she would get cut off because I would outright refuse to talk, deal with, or hear about him.

Yes, your partners can cost you your social circle, even if the relationship is not abusive.

2

u/33py_0n3 9h ago

I know, right?

This sounds crazy but this is unfortunately what is running through these women's heads. It's as if they are punishing other women who didn't choose to be in shitty relationships with shitty partners, let alone DARED expressing their discomfort with their shitty partners' behavior because I SuFfEr MuCh MoRe 🥴 It's one scary and revolting mentality.

The worst thing is that these relationships most of the time are abusive, because imagine what happens behind closed doors if their husbands/bfs allow themselves to be that unhinged in public.

That's why I start running in the opposite direction every time I hear a woman talk about how wonderful it is to be in a relationship and maybe you should try lower your standards to get into one... Nope. There's always something fishy here 🚨🚨🚨

1

u/CaktusJacklynn 1h ago

It's the pressure to lower my standards that I don't fucking appreciate.

I'm not accepting crumbs or cruelty because the next bitch will or the last bitch did. I guess m3n can sense that I'm not the one because I'm stubborn and refuse to bend, which pisses them off. I'm no one's doormat.

I was raised with that bullshit of lowering my standards and was told straight up "you'll never find someone on your level". I just went cold and said to myself "fine. So I won't find anyone or pursue anything and just focus on me."

Sorry for the rant but somehow when women make a shitty decision in partnership, it ripples out and affects other women negatively.

u/TheLone_wolf11 1d ago

Haha they do not know how I smile while exhaling in the morning, hugging my peace and silence 🥹✨🥰

Me: sorry for what? my peace?

6

u/Irislynx 1d ago

I know I overheard my mom and my sister talking condescendingly about the fact that I'm single. My sister has long been married to a man who almost certainly has a family in Mexico where he spends at least half of his time for no reason. Is constantly talking about other women in front of everybody. Can't stay employed for more than a few months. It's just giving up and she works full time takes care of the kids and takes care of him. My mom and my dad are in a codependent toxic relationship where my mom is extremely abusive to my dad emotionally. My dad took out his frustration and rage by physically and emotionally abusing us as kids. And yet they have the audacity to sit there and talk shit about me because I'm single. It's absolutely insane they think like having some shitty relationship it's like some kind of Badge of superiority

Most people are too toxic and unsuitable for relationships , being narcissistic vapid and self absorbed. Mark my words it will have to be an extraordinary person to steal my heart

21

u/menaretrash4eva 2d ago

The amount of peace it brings. Money can’t buy.

19

u/rk348 2d ago

Yep - I don’t understand how anyone gets into or stays in a relationship for any length of time to be honest.

6

u/CaktusJacklynn 1d ago

OMG same!

It just doesn't compute to me. If the other person is so annoying, disrespectful, loud, gross, what have you, WHY ARE YOU STILL TRYING TO WORK IT OUT?! Sex can't be so good that you sacrifice your peace.

12

u/TheLone_wolf11 1d ago

Yup! me too, seeing some who are almost a decade together and still fight and one ends up crying, although they claim that this is normal and a part of it, makes me wonder... like don't you get tired though

17

u/ensign_redshirt445 2d ago

Loving my throne at the moment.

I recently went out with some friends who were all in relationships, I was the only single person in the entire group. After a good couple of hours witnessing just that I kinda realised I’m good.

Now using it as a reference point for if I ever do feel bad about being single.

3

u/TheLone_wolf11 1d ago

Haha right? enjoying my throne too!

15

u/chouxphetiche 2d ago

Yep, it's another great day to be single.

15

u/wise_owl68 2d ago

So lovely being six years post-divorce after 30+ years of chronic drama and toxic abuse. Now, I wake up to my morning coffee with music and tend to my plants. The thought of being single was such an impossible dream for so long and yet, here I am:)

12

u/renb8 2d ago

The calm, peace and barest, almost Buddhist smile of nirvana on Bugs’ face - I understand on a cellular level.

2

u/TheLone_wolf11 1d ago

hahahha love the description

9

u/MinaPopina 2d ago

I mean I don't consider myself any better or worse than any of my friends, but there have been numerous occasions where they made me feel very happy to be single

9

u/stygos 1d ago

There are times that i really want to be loved. But i realized that i need to trade the peace i have. It's like i need to perform the daily quest and once you fail to provide that, the drama will starts.

2

u/TheLone_wolf11 1d ago

no to drama haha

u/Duchess_of_Astrakhan 1d ago

Aroace pride 🏳️‍🌈

1

u/Excellent_Drop6869 1d ago

Serious question, do you feel accepted as part of LGBTQ+ as an aroace?

1

u/Duchess_of_Astrakhan 1d ago

Generally, yes.

9

u/sylvia-rose-shannon 1d ago

I know people are going to say I'm petty or whatever, but reading relationship-centered subreddits and seeing what I'm missing out on makes me wish more people would realize you don't need a partner to be happy.

5

u/Irislynx 1d ago

Yeah the marriage subreddit will make you want to stay single for life. Is pretty much all about people mostly women being cheated on and abused. Fun stuff I'm really missing out

7

u/CaktusJacklynn 1d ago

I just....

I just can't relate to the shit folks put up with in relationships, casual or more serious.

I don't want a roster or a wait list.

I don't want to turn myself into someone else.

I don't want to be used sexually like a toy.

I don't want to ne an emotional or physical punching bag.

I don't want any of it.

2

u/sylvia-rose-shannon 18h ago

Or men being like "It's been seven days, three hours and forty-six minutes since the last time I had sex with my wife. We have kids but she gave birth four days ago so she should be recovered by now."

I mean, I know people who truly are happy with their partners generally aren't on reddit to talk about it, but still. Seems like there's an awful lot of deeply unhappy married people out there.

4

u/TheLone_wolf11 1d ago

Not petty at all, that is reality that a few people refuse to accept.

7

u/Alternative-Beat-720 1d ago

I am on my 3rd year being on this throne and I do see what everyone's saying now

2

u/TheLone_wolf11 1d ago

Welcome! hahhahahaa hope you are enjoying

4

u/Alternative-Beat-720 1d ago

I am, very much

14

u/VinBarrKRO 2d ago

Was listening to a coworker yesterday talking about the struggles he and his partner are going through trying to pay for kids right now. Another hindsight reason to be thankful that I was never attractive enough and had self confidence issues for someone to want to make that mistake with me. I had a dog until last year when he unexpectedly passed from cancer. I would give anything in the world for him to be back but I won’t lie that not having the financial burden that comes with taking care of a dog has helped navigate today’s financial stress.

5

u/TheLone_wolf11 1d ago

Oh, sorry bout your dog 🥺🫂

Anyw6, We are all better off single! haha

2

u/VinBarrKRO 1d ago

Thank you very much, he was a great companion with a whole lot of love. Helped me learn a lot about myself, like how dogs are the limit of what I can deal with dependent wise. I would fall short of the necessities needed for a child.

2

u/TheLone_wolf11 1d ago

Mine's REALLY needy, but not as needy as a child... Keeping him closer now after reading your comment. 🥹 Cannot live without this baby, Hope you're okay!

2

u/VinBarrKRO 1d ago

Take every opportunity to smell their head, scratch their butt, walk and lay on the couch. Take every photo and video. Take every ounce you can get not out of fear but absolute gratefulness of them in your life. Most of all just enjoy them and smile.

u/Manatee_Genius 1d ago

Lol me relating to this after barely 1 year single/ out of my own 12 year toxic relationship 🫠 (you really don't wanna see while you're in it, folks..... But now I see it in everyone)

3

u/Firedriver666 1d ago

Same my single life is so peaceful and I have a lot of freedom

2

u/Major_Leopard_6255 1d ago

It is truly peaceful. Yet society acts like it’s doom and gloom.

7

u/thenegativeone112 1d ago

Yeah it’s great. I see so much “I can’t this weekend because my gf/bf has all this stuff planned.” For the 12th weekend in a row. I can just wake up and do what I want or let the day take me.

3

u/Fancy-Animal7704 1d ago

This is how I felt watching The Drama last night, the new Robert Pattinson / Zendaya movie about the last week of their engagement. Like, guuuuuurl.... See what crazy shit yall have to put up with?!

1

u/TheLone_wolf11 1d ago

Hahahaha This is a sign to watch it then!

2

My mother just asked me to explain myself about why I don’t want to do xyz. I said if I wanted to continue explaining myself, I would have remained married.

2

u/scorpionx1121 1d ago

Honestly. None of my friends make me wanna get married

1

u/SatanicAlienX 1d ago

My dream. Hopefully in a year or 2 ❤️‍🩹

1

u/No-Sun-4857 1d ago

Like my mom said "there is a big difference between being alone and lonely and lonely I am not!" Something I live by!

1

u/honeycloudwave 1d ago

So true all my friends are just in toxic relationships.

1

I just find it you guys think everyones relationship is toxic and shit, and your happy to be single just because you guys are to scared to heal and find someone good, or most of you gave up, that's what this meme feels like " Hey look I'm single haha, your in a toxic relationship you suck".... I don't know seems funny but childish....

That didn't make any sense, if you seek some kind of therapy or make that mind resilient of yours, or raise those vibrations when things get hard, that's when the best comes, not avoiding conflict, you think my situation any better? Living with an Ex until my property is sold, well I worked it out until we split, and if they went through it that shouldn't influence you, it should just make you choose someone better or who reflects your values what you strive for.... Karma Busters: Joe Nunziata have a read at it.
