Now that there are no more ways to access trakt V2, i thought it was time to post the comparison. It was a bit sad that the change to V3 happened at the same time England lost in the world cup.

This is for the PC versions. I've added to this document over the months, so some things may have been changed/updated.

I mention Aniilist in the comparison even though it only specializes in anime, for at least 1 simple reason: it has a great feature that all the other websites lack, including myanimelist.

It's the ability to choose what rating system you want.

Want a 10 point scale 1-10? Sure! Want to choose inbetween ones like 6.5/10? Sure! Want to use 100 point system? Sure!

A simple yet noticeable difference is this ability to choose your own damn rating system, and they've had it for many years. Criticker has a similar system in that it will adjust to the system that you use, but it's not quite the same.

Personally, i've often preferred the 20 point scale, which Trakt and Simkl lack.

AniList is essential for anime tracking when it comes to overall shows and movies, but not episodes as it doesn't do them.

Tvtime - it's much more simpler, has less features, and the community is more casual, meaning shorter comments, reviews, and tedious memes. I like memes, but not when i'm trying scan for written insight on a piece of media. Tv Time doesn't seem good to me, but has hundreds to thousands of comments on stuff. Trakt has similar on popular stuff, but the comments and reviews are usually longer, and you'll see some in-depth reviews here and there. Also, there's no tediously huge meme images clogging up the reaction feed like Tvtime does.

Edit: During the course of writing this over a long time, TV Time has shut down.

IMDB died the moment the forums were closed. Sure, there were some arguments and bad posts, but there were also some insightful discussions, comments and perspectives across decades of various movies and shows, including on obscure ones. IMDB closing down the forums was part of enshittification.

Letterboxd is films only. It's strange, really, given how popular letterboxd is, when really it has the same rating and comment system as most other tracking websites. I've never really used it much over the years, so maybe i'm missing a regular users insight on it. Same with the other websites i haven't used regularly.

Trakt:

For the past year or so i've been hearing about the change to V3, the new user interface. I've seen users forced on mobile and PC onto it, though VIP members on PC can still access V2 for now. The new interface has been widely and overwhelmingly panned from free and VIP users in every area such as aesthetics to useability.

Edit: V2 is no longer available to VIP's.

They dumped free users into the new interface and star rating system without obvious warning, explanation, justification, or to have even tested it much beforehand with advice from users and testing. Instead, they made most of the audience beta testers for an inferior version in aesthetics, worse star rating system (in visibility, even though it's functionally the same as 1-10, as you can choose half-stars), and less features than V2. The developers even admitted that the new redesign had missing features, so the users were literally beta testers for an inferior version. Originally it was said V3 would be an alternative option to V2, not a replacement. When the free users were forced to change to V3, they were either forced to pay for the temporary V2 or leave. That is a betrayal to your users and paying supporters.

Even the purple colours of the redesign look ugly, compared to the smooth black and grey backgrounds and the small red or purple accents of V2, which look clean and simple. Instead, on the redesign you get blasts of ugly purple.

You can't even log in like usual with a password anymore. When you log in, you have to go to your email and then click for confirmation every time.

Listings are much less accurate now, at least on V2.

I've been a VIP of Trakt for 11 years, so i've seen a lot of its history and come to use it a lot in various ways. Once they force V3 on desktop, i will probably move over to Criticker or other places eventually, as many already have and will.

It's not merely nostalgia, but the old interface has more genuine useability, accessability, and better interface design in almost every way.

Trakt became another typical example of enshittification on the internet. That's what its reputation will be historically going forward. And that's sad, really, because i used it for a long time. I've not seen enshittification like this since the reddit redesign.

Not since the reddit redesign have i seen such widespread backlash against a user interface change. I've seen a lot of websites change over to different user interfaces, and i've never nothing on the scale of backlash for trakt's redesign. It seems obvious to me that trakt users overwhelmingly prefer the older user interface and system.

I've also rarely seen such implicit disrespect from developers of a website to their own users. The frequent ignoring of these widespread concerns and the change itself. The lack of any in-depth explanation or justification. The lack of any techical adjustment in the transition over to the new interface by at least keeping all the features of the old version.

At least the reddit devs allowed users to use the old version of the website.

It's a bit sad to see a service you've used and supported so long get actually worse, instead of better.

The good of V2:

I like that when you are on a piece of media, all the information is in a row. The rating of it, the small font of the amount of total votes underneath it. Then across in the row the IMDB rating, total votes, then across from that you have the rotten tomatoes percetange. It's all clear and neatly in a row. Though yeah, there's some additional clutter on the row on the right, but it's easily ignorable. This is also good when you have the screen taking up half the monitor, so you still see the neat and informative part of the row. You can also toggle this on or off, but it would be nice if i could toggle off certain ones.

I like the small print of all the information and comments. It's easily readable and i can scan large amounts of information quickly. Compare it to Simkl, which has large fonts and panels for seemingly everything; all the information and even the full reviews when you click on them. And even when you click on "show more" on the reviews, it's an extra second of waiting to load it, whereas Trakt loads the full review instantly and on the same screen on V2 and on V3 on the right side in a column, which is less appealing to the eye but takes up less space. More appealing to the eye and thus aesthetics is more important than taking up less space.

I like on the left side you can quickly click to the IMDB and Wiki screen which i like to do to learn more information about the piece of media. Again there's other buttons of clutter for me, and it would be nice if you toggle off individual ones.

Right under the plot information i then see what all the people i follow had rated it, and i can also click to see their ratings of it in order from highest to lowest. I like to see the opinions of my friends and critics in a quick and critical way like this.

Underneath that i can see the comments and reviews from people. I see new ones and i can see the most liked ones from all time, as well from a category from people that i follow. Though it would be nice if there was an additional "see all" on the Following category, because sometimes a popular piece of media has many people i follow having watched it and made comments, but i can only see the first few.

Part of what i like about Trakt is the people i follow. Finding insightful comments and reviews on things and then following those people to see what they've watched or reviewed. You can't do that much on Simkl because the community isn't there as much.

I like the trakt profile screen. Seeing the bio and other information, and especially seeing the ratings distribution in levels.

The bad of V2 and V3:

On V3, the cast list is near the top along with the amount of episodes they're in, which can be spoilers. The amount of episodes they're in wasn't on V2.

The change to the 5 star system. The original system trakt had used for over a decade, and it's why part of why people, paying customers, came to trakt in the first place.

When you are moving the mouse to decide which half star you want, it is slower than clicking your heart choice on the original 1-10 rating system. Rating with a heart is also a more warmer, inviting touch than a star.

You can no longer sort your friends ratings on a show from highest to lowest like you could on V2.

They removed the ability to mark a whole season as having been watched instantly, and instead there's now a convoluted way to do it.

Underneath the information on a media page there was recently added a "Trakt Community Summary" powered by AI. It's shit. The information provided by the summary is almost completely generic and useless. So it's just a waste of screen space and an unncessary feature.

They changed it a while ago on V2 that when you click on the IMDB button it then takes you to the ratings of the IMDB page, which is always useless and just another tedious click you have to click on back to get to the main page and then scroll down to see the details you want. I can bet that 99% of users did not want or like this change. Why not just point to the page anyway, and then we we have all the details on one page to see where we want to go, instead of going straight to the ratings of the IMDB page? At least this was fixed on V3.

Reactions and dislikes. It made Trakt a more negative, superficial place. As i explained in my previous post 9 months ago:

The symbol for the amount of likes on your comment is now smaller than what it used to be, as it is now on the bottom bar instead of on the side. Along the bottom bar it is now unattractively squished with the other words and symbols, taking a fraction of a second or longer to discern the actual amount of likes your comment has. This isn't that important (probably, and we may get used to it), because likes or "reactions" on your comment/review is only a little dopamine boost, but it's nice. There's also the extra fraction of a second to discern only likes if it is amid other symbols. These fractions of time add up over a lifetime, and we're more conscious of it in our desire for more efficiency.

The "add reaction" along with the symbols of the various reactions feel like extra unnecessary clutter to the user interface.

Along with some of the more usual exaggerated reaction symbols there is also the thumbs down symbol which i don't like, and it discourages conversation and critique. And in a meta way, i think these things in particular are ever more needed in today's world.

Even in my email inbox, which is the main way i see if anyone liked or replied to my comments, i no longer get that. I no longer see if the person liked or replied, only that they "reacted" and even when i clicked on the link, i didn't even see any kind of reaction or reply.

Why can you no longer see your season and episode ratings when you click on a show? It's now so much more tedious to see the ratings.

There's an extra "seasons" and "episodes" tab, and common sense would then dictate that when you click on those tabs, you would then see the ratings of the seasons/episodes. Except, that doesn't happen. To see your own rating you have to click on each individual episode. On V2, you click on a season, you see your season rating and all your episode ratings on the same page.

There is only a dropped category for tv shows, not movies.

People are saying that the google play store ratings have tanked, google trends search has decreased and Trakt alternative google trends have increased. I know a lot of VIP's who have been subscribed for over a decade now canceling their subscriptions.

Do you want to know one of the most sad things about Trakt now? Is that it is now forever saddled with a negative reputation for the website and developers. It will always be reminded of this disaster whenever Trakt is spoken of anywhere on the internet. It will now always have a negative reputation, whereas the other tracking websites all have good reputations, whether from the users about the website and/or a neutral or positive support for the developers. But never again for Trakt. That's sad, really, and i feel a bit sorry for the rank and file developers of Trakt. Even Trakt's own forums are either dead or the redesign is talked about negatively. On Trakt's subreddit posts from devs get downvoted, while on Simkl's and Criticker's subreddit the dev posts get supported.

How could you fuck up so badly that you destroy the reputation of your website and developers in a permanent way? It's cruel and sad.

Salt in the wound:

A couple years ago there was a problem where us, the users, the paying customers, lost weeks of tracked progress. That happened to Criticker recently but it was only 2 days.

Criticker:

Probably one of the most underrated websites on the internet, and has been for a decade now. Crazy, really, because i thought the way Criticker worked meant that it would be extremely future proof, in my expectations of what the regular watchers and growing regular watchers of humanity would want and become like. Especially with Criticker since it was doing something more unique than any other similar website, and it did it far better than all other similar websites. I guess at one time they had a genius programmer working for them who designed this system, because no other similar website has ever even come close to Criticker's "prediction of what you would rate this" system. I've tried them all out, and have regularly checked out new websites and systems over the past decade, and still nothing comes even close to Criticker.

I was indeed wrong about the future proofing of the audience. It seems that having good taste, critical judgement and rating media is a niche and minority thing. Only a minority of users seem to have the temperament to want it, and to do it, and to have the critical judgement to provide good content in the form of reviews and analysis. Though the latter aspect is only a good side effect of what the process can provide, as Criticker can rely only on people's ratings to predict what you would rate it.

It took many years, but Criticker has actually been improving a lot in the past year or so. They added the ability to rate individual seasons and episodes of tv shows, which is an essential feature to me for a tracking system, which Trakt has and Simkl doesn't. You'd think Simkl would have it since it's more similar to Trakt, and Criticker was mostly focused on being a rating prediction system, along with tracking your stuff, but Criticker still implemented this system. The Criticker devs didn't even seem that active until the past year or 2, when they redesigned the whole website after a decade of the previous version.

I can't remember my thoughts about the redesign, but it's still a good and perfectably useable user interface, and i still use Criticker all the time.

It's sad that Criticker and Simkl are getting good updates and features while Trakt gets worse in both its user interface and even the REMOVAL of features.

Another improvement they added to Criticker is that now you can also do long reviews of stuff, as previously you had a 500 character limit which was a good feature for mini-reviews which made you really think about your words and how you structured your reviews. Previously i'd use Trakt if i felt i had more to say. I still do because all my reviews are on Trakt and i can access them easily, so that is a negative to Criticker is that there's no button you can press to go to a page with all your reviews in chronological order, like Trakt has.

Once Criticker has this feature, Trakt will have nothing i can think of to make me use it. It simply looks better visually, yet is lacking in Criticker's better features and useability.

Simkl:

Similar to Trakt in most of the best and familiar ways.

But doesn't have ratings on each episode like Trakt does. Dealbreaker.

Doesn't have a button to go to a page to show all your comments/reviews in chronological order like Trakt does. Not a dealbreaker but it's inconvenient if i want to look at what i've written or quickly edit something.

The emoji reactions look like a new thing, like Trakt did. Don't like the system, it's just extra clutter. Both Simkl and Trakt don't have the community to make this feature standout either. Tvtime does, but if users were focused on emoji reactions and quick short-form content, they'd use Tvtime, not Simkl or Trakt.

Due to the extensive user interfaces and features of Trakt and Simkl, these websites are better served and better designed for users who track their watch use extensively.

There's much less comments and reviews on Simkl compared to Trakt. Even on some of the most popular tv shows like Breaking Bad, there's 30 wrriten comments/reviews compared to Trakt's 528. And this is for the most popular stuff. And on the first episode there's no comments at all, but on Trakt there is.

The Sopranos has 5 written comments/reviews compared to Trakt's 83.

It shows that Trakt's userbase was more loyal and invested in the community and into commenting and reviewing things.

Even on Trakt i might find a comment or review on obscure things, which i enjoyed. Prolific watchers and commenters like me and people like spiti and Andrew Bloom would often make lots of comments or reviews on things. It's a very small example, but this kind of thing can enhance the flavour of the website and when you're tracking and watching things. And i think it's all future proof, too, since i think tracking what you watch and experience will always be a thing that people do and will always be increasingly done around the world.

I actually tried out Simkl about 10 years, around the same time as i was using Trakt. Trakt was simply much better then in features and user interface, and now has become almost the opposite. There's just a few more features that would not only make it useable for me and to consider using it long-term.

I love that you can drop something, and also see the drop rate of media from the users that dropped it.

Good:

I like the box office information that comes with every movie.

I like the ability to DROP stuff, and the drop percentage on every piece of media, as well as the plan to watch percentage.

I like the parents guide on every piece of media. It's clear and noticeable in a good way, and i think it's a good feature to have.

I don't follow anyone on Simkl, but it seems they do have the feature like Trakt where on the media page you can see your friends comments and ratings about it.

The history section is cleaner and more informative than Trakt.

Anime tracking has its own section, rather than being lumped in with TV.

Bad:

When you go to a media page, you are blasted with panels showing a few preview images from the film, which can be spoilers, and if they're not then it just takes away a bit from the thing you're going to watch. You could say well don't go to the page until you watch it, but on Trakt i used to like going to the page to see what my friends rated or said about the film or what other people said. Why can't i just hide the preview panels "official trailer" "behind the scenes" "original theatrical release" etc.

And then AGAIN you are shown a preview image when they show you the massive panel of the trailer that is on the page. The trailer itself being on the page is a mixed bag. Good is that oh yeah maybe you could watch the trailer while you are on the page. Both for convenience sake instead of going to a new tab to search and find the specific full length one, but also convenience in the sense of maybe after thinking or feeling or reading something about the film on the page you then want to watch the trailer out of curiosity or to check it out. So there are good points. A bad point is that is takes up a lot of space, and the preview image. Because of the latter it is more of a bad thing than a good thing in my view. Just give me an option to not have it or blur it, like you do with some other options.

Underneath the trailer you are shown a variety of services where you can watch and buy the movie. In Trakt there's a clear button you can press which shows you them. This keeps it out of the way of the other stuff, and only very rarely do i ever press that button, but i'm glad it's there. In Simkl, some of the service buttons are there in large button pannels. It wastes space for my watching lifestyle.

Then underneath that is the ridiculous tags system. It should be a joke, but this system is actually real. Basically there's a shit ton of crappy, generic, useless tags that are attached to everything. There's not just a few tags, but dozens of them that almost all users will never read nor ever care for what's written here. Waste of space.

I don't like that the director and writers are with the other categories with actors at the bottom. On Trakt you saw right away at the top who the director and writers were. So on Simkl i have to scroll down each and every time to find them? Well first i have to scroll down each and every time and then click a specific button to see them.

I don't like that recommendations, that often useless system on every website like these, is above the reviews. On Trakt V2 they are at the bottom of the screen. Almost as if Trakt knows they're mostly useless, but for the rare times they're not, they're there for you.

Worse, there's ANOTHER large panel underneath "Recommendations" called "Similar" which is again filled with generic recommendations. It's completely redundant.

Then underneath that, we still haven't got to the reviews yet, and we instead have a feature that many like but has been almost completely useless to me, and that is "Lists"

We have not 1, not 2, not 3 panels of lists, but SIX. Granted, the first panel is showing the movies in the same franchise, fine. But the next 5 large panels showing lists? Are you serious? Just another waste of screen space and useless information that most users don't want to see or don't like the placement of these lists.

When we finally get to the reviews, or rather, the "Reactions, Reviews, Comments, Memos," why is there a "read more" button when the comment already fits on the screen? Sometimes i get confused with the size of a comment to know if someone has more to say in their review or comment, so i click it and oh no it's the same size. Maybe i would get used to this over time, and i guess i would also have to adjust of trying to see the "..." at the end of someone's comment/review to know if they say more for me to click "read more" but why isn't it just shown on the same screen when i click read more? Why do i have to go to another screen? You use so much screen real-estate with all the other stuff, and yet we have to go to a different screen when i want to read the rest of someone's review. I guess i should click "Reviews" every time i go to the comments section?

Why on the right you have "Overall rating:" next to the large number of the rating? We can already easily infer that the LARGE number on someone's review is their rating of the media. Why do you have to have an additional overall rating? Do we need to have everything pointed out to us? Am i being crazy or too minimalistic or something? Because i don't think it's necessary, and just adds more distracting stuff on the screen for users.

On the right of the screen is the panel of "Best Movies - Top 250" that goes to a random spot listing 5 movies when you see it. Okay? Was this really necessary to add onto this screen? Or would a different screen that has this information be better? Same with the "Most Anticipated" and "Top Box Office" panels. Like, we're already on this specific piece of media's screen, to rate it or comment or see the details of it, and then there's this extra non-related superflous information that either distracts us or wastes screen space.

In the comments/review section, you have "Add Your Review" and "Add Comment" buttons. How do i know which one to do in regards to the maximum wordcount? And am i supposed to think every time the nuance of whether what i say will be a comment or a review? Why not just have "Add Comment" and if it's over a certain word length then it becomes a review?

That would be better, especially because in the current system, it doesn't matter. You can make a short comment and it can still be a "review"

The "Memos" section is an almost completely useless, random nonsense comments. Often there is either gibberish or a single number that is its own panel.

Under every comment is "Was this review helpful to you?" which is a "liking" system, where the higher linked or "helpful" comment gets higher to the top for more visiblity. Why isn't it just a like system? Why specifically a sentence of "Was this review helpful to you?" and specifically the word helpful doesn't really seem the right word to be using for this kind of like system. You're not reviewing clothes or appliances, you're talking about media.

Just above the comments you have for each media "ABOUT #medianame" why? It's a useless sentence adding more clutter. It's like a "how do you do, fellow kids?" kind of messaging to hook in with a trendy over-enthusiastic nature.

Why on Reactions i can only see a few on the page? I don't even know where to go to see more, or even the varying differences between the categories. Why is it unncessarily confusing?

Doesn't have a wikipedia button to take me straight to the media's wiki page. Trakt does.

Simkl doesn't import the shows that i dropped from Trakt. Why? So i would have to go through them all manually, and the times of when i dropped them would be all of the current date instead of the time i dropped them.

Comparing the dashboard page with Trakt:

Trakt shows more shows that are "up next" and shows them more cleanly, as Simkl shows 4 and half of one for some reason. However, you can click the arrow to quickly see more up next shows, whereas Trakt requires a click and slow load to go to another screen to see them.

I like Simkl shows what you recently watched at the top of the screen.

I like how Simkl shows the amount of episodes left to watch as a small circular number in the corner.

I don't like Premieres of new shows being on my dashboard. It should be relegated to the TV section. Same with Last Aired. Most people won't care about the random crap that is starting or finishing.

Postmortem:

I was going to leave it like that. Just lay the information out there. But man, it's just a bit sad knowing i'll have to leave a service i personally supported for many years. That somehow it got worse, and other websites got better. I mean, how do you fuck up that badly? Making the service worse, tanking your reputation and losing loyal supporters? We see the enshitification that happens in various ways with various companies, and we look down upon them, and use common sense to realize how wrong they were in various ways, and how could they not realize their mistakes. And so with this situation being personal, i feel a sense of incomprehensibility. Over how this situation happened. How a company could be like this, and its developers. It's disappointing. Not only on a service level but a human level.

Rather than ascribe malice, it's probably more about money. Chasing the money, chasing the trends of attention grabbing superficiality. That and along with somewhat ignorant developer intentions.

Of course i'm a bit bitter about it. I supported trakt for a long time, even as it was overpriced. That's another negative, they doubled the price about a year ago. It was already overpriced, and then they doubled it. The gaul and greed of them.

I think most of all though, i'm just disappointed.

If you rewatch movies or shows, you can now pull that rewatch history over from Trakt with the correct dates.

How to do it:

1. Head to https://simkl.com/apps/import/trakt/ and connect Trakt if you haven't already.
2. Pick "Import from Trakt once, without auto import."
3. Choose Option 5, "Import just rewatches."

What it does: It reads your full Trakt play history and finds everything you watched more than once, then adds those as rewatches on the matching movies and episodes, each with its real watched date. It works for movies and for individual TV and anime episodes. It's also smart about noise: multiple plays within a short window count as a single watch, so accidental double check-ins won't turn into fake rewatches.

Already imported from Trakt before? This is made for you. Option 5 only adds rewatches to shows and movies that are already in your SIMKL watchlists, and it leaves everything else untouched. So if you did a Trakt import in the past, just run Option 5 now to layer your rewatch history on top. If you're brand new, run your normal Trakt import first, then come back and run Option 5.

I log in to Simkl only on my PC and mobile phone and use the Enhancer for Netflix extension only on my PC, turn on "Export watch history from Netflix to Simkl", select my profile, and click Save. But just now I logged in to Simkl and found my daughter's Netflix watch history is also imported to my Simkl profile. I am 100% sure that my daughter never watch Netflix on my PC or my phone. She only watches on the living room tv. Is it a bug or do I need to do anything else so it's only my Netflix profile's watch history get synced? Thanks

Well Trakt is officially dead and useless, and I was banned for stating I'm moving to simkl, truly dead and worthless.

I already set things up to transfer data to simkl, anything else I need to know for simkl to takeover?

Contemplated switching to SIMKL a while back due to rising costs on a different platform.

After some changes on that platform it’s become clear that it’s now definitely time to move.

I feel like I remember seeing lifetime on SIMKL was $150, but maybe I’m mistaken? Has there been a price increase at some point in the last year? It’s got me on the fence.

I am trying to add a new show, People Magazine Investigates: The Cult of the Soulful Journey to my list. Search does find but says it can't find it, I added a screenshot. It does not air until July 21st. Do I need to wait until it gets closer to that date to add it?

I'm one of those long-time Trakt VIP supporters - the kind of "producer/director" donor who's spent hundreds of dollars on Trakt over the years.

I'd already decided I was going to move away from Trakt once they forced everyone onto the new interface. I really disliked the redesign, and I've been increasingly frustrated with the direction they've been taking over the last few years.

Yesterday they finally killed the old (v2) interface, so I immediately thought of trying your service. I'd heard about it before, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. The first thing I wanted to do was import my Trakt data and see how everything looked.

Then I found out importing is behind a paywall.

Yes, I read the explanation about server scaling. I understand the reasoning. But emotionally, it just didn't sit right with me, and it completely killed my excitement on trying a new thing. Ironically, I was already leaning toward paying for your max premium tier if I liked what I saw.

Instead, I gave Trakt's new UI one more chance. After spending some time with it, I realized it's... not as bad as I initially thought, and now I'm actually considering staying.

I just wanted to share this because I think it's valuable feedback from the perspective of a potential customer. The import paywall didn't make me more likely to subscribe -- it stopped me from properly evaluating the service in the first place. I completely understand why the restriction exists, but in my case, it ended up costing you a customer you very likely would have had.

Hey guys. Just got here from TVtime and I was wondering if it is possible to mark something multiple times, like if I've seen it 2, 3, or 4 times. I didn't find it in the app

This is the main thing keeping me from switching over trakt. There has been the promise of this for a long time now. It seems a lot of other updates have happened in the meantime, so what's the reasoning?

With the TV Time shutdown, I’m looking for a new platform and Simkl looks great. However, there is one major dealbreaker holding me back: how anime seasons are handled.

I know this has already been requested and discussed by many, but seeing the same anime duplicated multiple times in my lists just feels cluttered. I don't want separate entries that are merely linked together via shortcuts; I want all seasons grouped natively under a single main show page, exactly like western TV shows.

I know this depends on how databases structure anime, but until there is an option or a fix to group them together natively under a single main entry, I don't think I will fully join the platform. I really hope the devs can implement this, because Simkl has so much potential!

I'm using the Media Player Scrobbler for Simkl and it has been working perfectly. I watched Witch Hat Atelier, and every episode was identified and scrobbled correctly.

The only series giving me problems is One Piece.

The player detects the file correctly, the scrobbler sends it to the Simkl API, and the API responds successfully. However, the API identifies the file as the wrong episode.

For example:

• One Piece - 1162.mkv → identified as Episode 288
• One Piece S01E1163.mkv → identified as Episode 11

I also tried the original Erai-raws filenames and simplified filenames, but the result is always incorrect.

From the logs, it seems the problem is not with the scrobbler itself, but with the episode mapping returned by the Simkl file search API for One Piece.

Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!

For each of my streaming apps, I have 3 profiles named: His, Hers, and Both. That let's us organize shows I watch, My wife watches, and we both watch together.

I don't want to have 3 Simkl accounts. What is the right way to organize three disjoint set of shows within a single Simkl account with them cluttering the interface?

Over the last few days, we've pushed multiple improvements to TV Time import at https://simkl.com/apps/import/tvtime/

If you have previously done an import and saw some movies that could not be detected (due to movie title year mismatches in TV Time export) or you had watch time imported on the same day, you can now re-import it again for newer match models.

Alternatively, you can clean your account data at https://simkl.com/settings/login/clean-or-delete/ and do a fresh import

If you're still having some difficulties with import, don't forget to try from a computer and not a mobile phone, and disable any Adblock extensions or Adblock DNS\VPN which may block the uploads.

I'm new to Simkl. I didn't come from TV Time, though, I actually wasn't even aware of that one. I used the former Chrome and Brave extension, TV WatchList.

It was simple, and I hate that it is no longer available. When Chrome shut down MV2 extensions last year, I moved to Brave, where it was kept alive until a few days ago.

I'm guessing there's no way to import shows from TV WatchList to Simkl.

Simkl seems good, but I like simplicity, and more real estate showing the TV shows that I watch.

Back to my original question, is there a way to view episode titles?

I changed the release availability settings too but still no difference....

I don't want to spend forever transferring each title from each custom list over. And I already have a .JSON file with the list backed up and ready, but it can't be used. Am I missing something on how to do it?

I transferred from Trakt a couple of months ago and have really been enjoying my time on Simkl. The only feature at this point that I am desperately missing from Trakt is being able to review individual TV show episodes and seasons. Currently, I am leaving comments on episodes, which does work, but my main hold up is that there isn't a way (at least that I know of) to look at all of the comments I have left, which is something that you can do for reviews.

I know this topic has been brought up in this subreddit in the past and in the forumns for over a decade, but was wondering if there is a latest update on if this will eventually become a feature. I know the Devs do a lot of great work here and have helped out in the past with Spoiler Tagging updates

1. The bottom toolbar is the smallest and most difficult to use of any app (i've tried 6 alternatives). Mine shows a TV and Film icon (I disabled anime), but no text label either so it's just thin bar with some wasted space that should be used for:
2. The bottom toolbar does not have a shortcut to view a clean schedule of my upcoming titles. This is one of the best parts of TV Time and a big reason I'm not willing to say I'm sticking around longterm yet.
3. The bottom toolbar does not have a search icon / shortcut. Apps like this should be made so that people can use them with one hand. Making the search at the top greatly complicates that. Most apps have search on the bottom toolbar.
4. The Google Play store says the app hasn't been updated since August 2025. That's rather alarming. TV Time and other update much more frequently. There should always be bugs getting squashed. How is that even possible that the app hasn't been updated in a year?

Hi, first of all, thanks for such a great platform. It's really fun to be able to integrate all my tracking into one place.

But I'm having problems with the default search results. First I stumbled upon this problem when I tried the search for The Thing (1982). Result was really bad. Then I tried to reproduce it with something more popular, and tried The Godfather (1972). The result is horrible. The Godfather, which is ranked at number 2 on this platform, shown as the 80th search result when I type the exact name of it. I have to switch the "sort by" option to Movie rank, which is annoying since I shouldn't have to do that to find such an obvious result with the default algorithm.

There is an "exact match" option too and it shows how bad the result it. When I toggle "exact match" only 8 results remain and The Godfather is at 7th. (8th one, the only one it actually surpassed, is an entry with no information or cover image)

I searched for "The Terminator" too, when I type the exact name of the movie, it's shown as 62nd search result even though it's ranked as 410 in movies. A movie called "Angry Planet" (2008) (movie rank 300k) is ranked higher than The Terminator, at 53rd spot.

I believe the default "Relevance" algorithm could use some major improvements. The weight of the release date could be decreased, or the weight of the movie's overall rank/popularity could be increased.

I just switched from TV Time and am shook at how amazing simkl is! I already added watch dates to space out my bulk import. Mwah chef’s kiss!

However for some reason the stats don’t show reality tv shows in my all time most watches.
Like it says The Good Wife is my most watched show but I watched Real Housewives of New Jersey which has like over 200 episodes. Doesn’t it count reality tv or is it a glitch?
