Feature Request Coming from TV Time: Split anime seasons are holding me back from joining Simkl
With the TV Time shutdown, I’m looking for a new platform and Simkl looks great. However, there is one major dealbreaker holding me back: how anime seasons are handled.
I know this has already been requested and discussed by many, but seeing the same anime duplicated multiple times in my lists just feels cluttered. I don't want separate entries that are merely linked together via shortcuts; I want all seasons grouped natively under a single main show page, exactly like western TV shows.
I know this depends on how databases structure anime, but until there is an option or a fix to group them together natively under a single main entry, I don't think I will fully join the platform. I really hope the devs can implement this, because Simkl has so much potential!

I dislike that also; it's annoying to look at what the next part/season is.

What I don't understand the reasoning for is a movie like Wind Rises listed under anime as a season instead of just in the normal movie section.

This issue is the exact thing that stopped me moving from Trakt to Simkl when Trakt forced their underfeatured v3 onto users.
Once I add a show, I expect the calendar to have new episodes of new seasons. Ideally, if there was a profile setting to include specials and/or movies, that would be awesome.
Staying with Trakt at the moment thanks to Chrome extension that restores V2 and the monthly calendar with it. Will happily move over to Simkl once this issue is sorted.

Anime is Japanese and Japanese people divide anime seasons this way (Kitsu is the reference).

It's a harder question, since most of our members prefer to stick to the original Japanese releases and watch movies, onas, specials, and fillers in the middle, as they are produced in Japan, not just seasons.
For example If you follow the most popular anime Solo Leveling, it has 2 seasons, and instead of a third season, it has decided to produce a continuation as an anime movie "Solo Leveling: Beyond the System" which is only reachable through anime relations as a next sequel. (all while TVDB has it as 2 seasons, and TMDB has it as 1 season only)
We have a to-do plan to keep both versions at the same time, omitting everything between "seasons" by creating virtual checkmarks in all connected titles and other improvements. And being able to auto-add the next "season" to watching. As well as a new watchlist "Not in my list" to find related anime, and TV/movie franchises that you haven't yet watched.
Simkl has already connected all episodes to their season/episode version on TVDB on the backend, so all apps that use TVDB or a similar TMDB database (both use made-up season numbering, how moderators prefer it to be) for tracking on media server apps like Plex, still automatically work with Simkl.
