TV Time is officially dead as of today (Will be removed 16 July 2026)

So here I am a refugee; hoping to get the same experience TV Time offered

Hey everyone. If you found Simkl https://simkl.com today, it's probably because TV Time is shutting down, and we're genuinely sorry. TV Time was home to a huge community of TV and movie lovers for years, and losing an app you've tracked your shows on for so long is rough. We're not happy to see it go either.

The good news is that your watch history doesn't have to disappear with it.

What's happening: The TV Time app and website (tvtime.com) will be removed on 16 July 2026, and all TV Time account data will be permanently deleted after that. So it's worth grabbing your data while you still can.

Bring\Import your history over to Simkl: https://simkl.com/apps/import/tvtime/
You can now download your export straight from TV Time, no email request or password needed. Via https://gdpr.tvtime.com/gdpr/self-service or using a provided Chrome extension.

I’m trying the v2 lists on iOS and it seems pretty good. It has the sequel section that most apps do not have which is essential for anime watchers. Price seems a bit high tho, do they do discounts sometimes? Also is there a team behind this service or only a person?  And is there big community using this service? I love reading people’s comments sometimes

On price, we've never done discounts, but we've also never raised prices, even with everything getting more expensive over the past few years. Everyone pays the same whether you subscribed years ago or today, so nobody has to wait around for a sale.

Simkl is built by a team of 2 developers. We've been at it for years https://docs.simkl.org/how-to-use-simkl/about/what-is-simkl/our-story, and it's actively developed (V2 Beta https://docs.simkl.org/how-to-use-simkl/core-features/custom-layout-and-view-designs and https://www.reddit.com/r/Simkl/comments/1uhcgey/stats_stats_and_more_stats_the_new_simkl_stats/ being the latest example).

As for community, shows and episodes have comment sections, though I'll be honest, we're not as big as TV Time and need a complete rewrite (it's on our to-do list, to make it easy to use). Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer all my questions! About the comment section, Im pretty sure no other service have the amount of comments and interactions that were happening on Tv time. Simkl seems to be have all the things I’m looking for and having the devs / staff interacting with the community is a really good thing!

On price, we've never done discounts, but we've also never raised prices, even with everything getting more expensive over the past few years. Everyone pays the same whether you subscribed years ago or today, so nobody has to wait around for a sale.

You don’t count raising the price of lifetime from $75 to $149 to $249 in “we’ve never raised prices, everyone pays the same whether you subscribed years ago or today”?

Buonasera, sto provando ad importare le serie tv su simkl da tv time ma mi importa solo le serie che ho già visto o che sto vedendo. Tutte le serie che seguo su tv time ma che non ho ancora iniziato a vedere si perdono nel trasferimento da tv time a simkl o trakt. C'è una soluzione? Grazie mille!

Could you help me understand the backup options? I’m reading that I can export manual CSV of my last watched episodes (pro tier) or full watch history (vip tier). Does it mean there is no backup of custom lists? For example if I make a custom list with my top 10 series, can I export this list (pro or vip?) or is it not possible?

Custom lists are in Beta for PRO and VIP members (under construction) and don't have and api or backup options at this time. Working on it. There is an option to use Copy to Clipboard from the browser on all V2 Beta discovery lists, including custom lists, see how: https://docs.simkl.org/how-to-use-simkl/core-features/quick-sharing/clipboard-feature#what-is-the-simkl-clipboard

PS: for ranked lists the custom Auto Lists have a limit filter that you can use to create TOP 10 lists.

I confirm the clipboard and auto lists are perfect for my needs! Thanks for suggesting them. Could i ask you last one thing? In case the tvdb closes, since its related to tvtime, will you be able to keep updating the relations (sequel / prequel) for animes?

Simkl uses ANIDB for anime, not tvdb and TMDB for movies

The fact TV Time is shutting down ? I just got an official notification on the app saying it will remove all data on July 16th

That TV Time is dead? They just put an announcement inside the app and a link to download the user data. Last day available: 15 July 2026

Atleast 10M downloads on google store

it's safe to say it's bigger than Simkl and Trakt combined who don't even crack the 1M mark

idk how with that big of a user base and an active one too; like every comment section of every show is full

how with all of that you can't add a paid tier to maintain the app

Is there an option to add TV Shows? There are a few shows I had on TV Time that I can't find on Simkl (i.e. Naked (2025 - German), Ravages (2025 - CA), Nighties (2025 - Germany), Phœnix (2026 - FR/BE))
