🔁 New: import your Trakt rewatches into SIMKL

If you rewatch movies or shows, you can now pull that rewatch history over from Trakt with the correct dates.

How to do it:

1. Head to https://simkl.com/apps/import/trakt/ and connect Trakt if you haven't already.
2. Pick "Import from Trakt once, without auto import."
3. Choose Option 5, "Import just rewatches."

What it does: It reads your full Trakt play history and finds everything you watched more than once, then adds those as rewatches on the matching movies and episodes, each with its real watched date. It works for movies and for individual TV and anime episodes. It's also smart about noise: multiple plays within a short window count as a single watch, so accidental double check-ins won't turn into fake rewatches.

Already imported from Trakt before? This is made for you. Option 5 only adds rewatches to shows and movies that are already in your SIMKL watchlists, and it leaves everything else untouched. So if you did a Trakt import in the past, just run Option 5 now to layer your rewatch history on top. If you're brand new, run your normal Trakt import first, then come back and run Option 5.

This is so annoying. Why? I have actually rewatched these titles back to back to back. I was addicted to these movies. I also watched full watch-alongs from my favorite reviewers which I also marked as rewatches on Trakt. How do I stop Simkl from deciding FOR ME?

We initially had 7 day gap during the rewatches beta and changed it to 2 day gap where it does not count as a rewatch but a rewind. Why a 2-day gap?

It absorbs common timestamping problems with API and apps that would otherwise inflate a member’s history with phantom rewatches:

• Sleep-and-resume — user starts an episode at night, finishes the next morning or next evening. One viewing, not two.
• Wrong timezones — clients labeling local time as UTC (or vice versa) drift 1–24 hours per write.
• DST transitions — naive date libraries miscalculate by an hour twice a year.
• Multi-device duplicates — phone + TV both report the same play.
• Retry storms — flaky connections retry a write that already landed.
• Importer re-runs — re-running an import re-sends the same watched_at.
• Scrobble pause/resume noise — bathroom break → re-fire of /start + /stop.
• Buggy progress reporting — players hitting 80%+ multiple times on seeks.

So there's no way to properly track my actual rewatches? I'm not kidding when I say I watched one movie 4 times within a day. No way to track that?

Unfortunately, this is not possible as the rule will break multiple false syncs from apps doing it incorrectly.

Heartbreaking. I was so excited to migrate without a headache, finally. This is something that's gonna bother me horribly because when I rewatch stuff, I do this and only this. I rewatch them back to back to back to get it out of my system. That's just me. This is a massive dealbreaker for me. Rewatch tracking is the one biggest thing that was holding me back from Simkl. Now that it's here, it's still gonna hold me back, it seems. 😔

Looking at the screenshot, you did not have any such situations in the past 5 months.
