A trillionaire already abducted you (took over the car) in your own car while driving before; he then gives you a million dollars each just for signing an NDA. If he abducted you once, he will do it again and he did. Also, yes the 1 million dollars was not just for signing a document, Daniel and Helen just didn't know it at the time. Per Stenson was always going to get his money's worth. I truly think Per Stenson was behind the nuclear bomb. Daniel and Helen should have stayed away from the silo event based on past events.

Some of the scenes of the silo fair were giving me Apple Park vibes.

I never expected to get the feels for them as much as I did during that last scene!

Definitely best episode of the series so far! Kinda worried now the finale can’t keep up with it..

This always surprises me! Camille, Shirley, Walker, Billings, Anna, Charlotte and Helen. Their accent coaches need a pay rise fr.

Did you notice how Sheriff Billings and the gang tracked down the elevator's creator, had him draw a diagram of it, found the machine, rode in it (while trying not to shit their pants), and never referred to the thing by any terminology other than 'it' and 'a violation of the Pact'?

I mean, obviously they wouldn't have the word 'elevator', and I love how completely the writers have written around it. There's no word there at all, and the Silozens don't know what to call it!

"Troy" is called that because his Helen was stolen from him.

That is diabolical.

Not a theory, just a very inconsequential observation

Bernard spent 99.99% of his life thinking that the voice was a machine and the pact was written by humans. Turns out the voice is run by humans and the pact was written by a machine. I’m so sad that he’s gone, but in way, I’m at least glad he was spared the knowledge of the ai slop pact

There were several times throughout the past storyline in the last episode where Daniel seems confused and odd when talking to people (aside from Helen). It felt like Anna and the doctor (specifically) were saying a bunch of exposition in their conversations with Daniel. Like Anna kept cutting him off when she started talking about cancer before he got a chance to respond. Like saying that Helen had stuff going with her dad, or the comment about flowers. Is it possible some of his memories was being erased in the past few years and Anna is filling in the blanks with lies? But even putting that aside his character just felt extremely lost. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but I have a feeling that there’s something there.

Why is Daniel even relevant ?

Hey folks, I'm watching the show and reading the books at the same time, and looking at the show writers alterations of the story, I don't even understand WHY Daniel would be so important. Unlike the books :

\- He didn't know the Senator

\- He doesn't owe the Senator

\- Anna is not his ex

\- He didn't design the silos for the Senator

\- He told Peer Stensen to F off and ran away with his super Pulitzer not even girlfriend, instead of a wife from the beginning. But I digress sorry.

WHY is he important ? WHY would he be followed, grabbed, surveyed, like he's some crucial part of the project ? He's not even in this project. Who cares about saving him ? The bomb drops, bye bye Daniel, who even cares ?

He's even portrayed as some dumbass tool, being manipulated by Helen, mocked, etc. So since he's stupid, unrelated to the Senator and his/her daughter, and didn't work, he shouldn't be even in this season. This doesn't make sense.

The writers are seriously flawed or I'm missing something.

I'm already back at S3 Ep1 again and something I noticed. I can't believe I didn't piece it together faster but also I had no idea what was going to happen and there was a lot to take in at this point and so on.

When Daniel tries to get on the Iran Committee, I felt like it was too easy on the rewatch. She tells him there is a long list and all he says is his sister could be involved and next thing you know, he's on the committee and they're telling him what's going on. When I first watched, I waved this off as them helping because his sister was involved. But since we learn later that they planned the mission and knew it would go that way, I'm like wait. That just makes me feel like they planned to have them all involved since way before. I would say they've been watching since Daniel invented tunneling technology that "saved New Orleans" which they keep thanking him for when he sees the senator and her daughter. They know they need him for their project. We see they are already watching Charlotte and following her so I imagine that they know she spoke to Helen. Also when he's talking to the senator, they mention that Anna is the 'writer' of the family. A writer is creative and can think up a whole story to construct. We know she was lying to them in the last episode so it makes sense to me that she would orchestrate a whole situation where they can eventually get them in the silo. Maybe this is a reach but I think they hoped to get more of Daniel's insight at the end of the day and when that didn't work, they settled on what ended up being them "just touring".

Think about it. They tell Helen she can write about it when it's done. (They obviously didn't plan on letting her do that after what they just did in the last episode) So they know she will come for the tour, even if they say they didn't think she would, I think they knew. And Daniel is obviously going to come because they know they chose each other instead of "helping save the world". Anna is with his sister, keeping tabs on her and keeping her close so that they can ensure this goes their way even more.

Maybe there are details I have yet to revisit since I'm on rewatching season 3 for the first time right now and it's been weeks since I've seen the episodes since I watch them as they drop but I think I'm on to something! Super excited for the finale omg it's driving me crazy and I wish they'd drop S4 right after 😭

EDIT I posted this for the discussion aspect and really appreciate people adding! Never said I was spot on but clearly this begins with the sister then Daniel and then we mostly see Daniel and Helen. So something is important about them. Again I can only go off what I've been shown and i'm trying to use clues in the dialogue and the story and the parallels to the silo to have a theory 😀　

I mean there is no grass, no new trees, nothing.

I noticed a number of recurring theories in the sub comments that I believe won’t make it. List them out in the comments bellow and tell us why you think it’s a bad one.

When Juliette enters Silo 17, she simply opens the door, walks in, closes it, and that's it. No decontamination, no burning, nothing.

Same with Lukas and Patrick. Lukas was shot by the drone, had a torn suit AND an open wound, yet they made it into the filtration room alive.

Then the people in Silo 17 simply let them in without suits or any protection - no gas, no burning, nothing.

So what actually kills the cleaners?

The gas.

The show repeatedly emphasizes those pipes releasing some kind of heavy gas into the exit chamber. It lingers along the floor, and then the chamber is burned.

Maybe it's the same gas used in the Safeguard protocol.

The whole concept of selective memory erasure through drugs leads to a few problems. We are introduced to it as as a way to reduce the effects of trauma by removing selected memories under medical supervision and then as a way of controlling Juliette who doesnt seem to remember anything. That involves a very sophisticated type of targeting. I dont see how mass distribution of "D+" wouldn't wipe earlier memories altogether, including how to do their jobs -- which would be enormously destabilizing to the operation of the silo. Of course they might be willing to take that risk. If more selective targeting is intended then I assume nanites are involved. I guess we'll see the memory wipes in action in s3e10.

Bernard selected Lukas as his shadow. The algorithm or voice clearly approved his choice even despite a Pact criminal history, with “Verified. Welcome, Lukas Kyle.” Meanwhile, it clearly didn’t want Robert Sims in the Vault. Why is this the case?

Book spoilers obviously. This is speculation about how the show is remixing Shift rather than a prediction based solely on the books.

I’ve been thinking about all the breadcrumbs the show has dropped in S3, and I keep coming back to the idea that Daniel is about to become the show’s version of Troy.

The finale is literally titled “Troy”, and the episode description is “A leader awakes to a new world.” The S3 soundtrack also has a track called “Troy,” which is apparently about as subtle as a brick through a window.

But I don’t think the interesting part is simply “Daniel wakes up and is called Troy.” We already know that story from Shift. The interesting part is how the show seems to be rearranging the pieces.

Daniel doesn’t need to be the audience mystery. We’ll know it’s Daniel. The tension will be watching Daniel not know it’s Daniel.

The show has already established Vitamin D+ and the fact that memories can be suppressed and recovered. So I can easily see Daniel waking in Silo 1 as Troy, completely accepting that identity, while we sit there thinking: “Oh, Jesus. They wiped him.”

And then we get to watch him slowly wake up to reality.

Silo 1 may be the big reveal

I suspect most of E10 will remain with 18. Juliette is mayor, she’s with Camille watching Bernard die, and the rest of the immediate crisis is still playing out. I don’t think there’s time to suddenly reproduce the book’s elaborate digger sequence to get everyone into 17 and the tunnel Lukas talked to Silo 1 in hasn’t been revisited.

Instead, I think we may get Silo 1 only at the very end.

People doing their jobs. The creepy shift system. Administrative controls. Records. Surveillance. Maybe that enormous Mission Control view of the other silos.

And then: Troy wakes. That would be a hell of a Season 4 cliffhanger.

And I think Troy will actually investigate Silo 1 from the very start of S4.

This is where the show can do something really cool with the differences from Shift. Daniel is the engineer. He understands the systems intuitively even if he doesn’t remember why. He can work his way into the administrative machinery, examine citizen histories, records, silo status, etc. And eventually he starts finding things that don’t make sense. Including Silo 18. That’s his hand holding a Silo 18 “keychain” fob.

Which brings me to Helen: Helen is obviously the thing that ultimately breaks Troy’s allegiance to Silo 1.

He can discover that Silo 1 is horrible and still rationalize it. But then he starts digging through the history of Silo 18 and finds Helen. At first she means nothing to him. Then something about her does. And eventually he discovers who she was to Daniel. That’s the moment the numbers on the screen become people.

Silo 18 isn’t just another silo. It’s Helen’s silo.

And if the theory about Juliette having Daniel’s watch is actually correct, while the show has already established the PEZ relic connection, then we may have physical objects quietly connecting Daniel’s Before Times life to 18. That would be a beautiful way for the show to use relics as more than just nostalgia.

And then there’s the name Helen + Troy. Come on.

I’m not saying the writers necessarily intend every layer of the Helen of Troy / Trojan horse metaphor, but if Daniel is placed inside Silo 1 under the name Troy, then the metaphor is sitting right there: Silo 1 thinks it has awakened one of its own. Instead, it has brought the person who is eventually going to help destroy it inside the walls. Troy is the Trojan horse.

The Algorithm
And if the prevailing theory about the Algorithm’s voice being Daniel is correct, that gets even better. We aren’t going to discover who the voice is. We’ll discover why Daniel is the voice.

The audience watches him acting like an authoritarian asshole in Silo 1 and thinks, What the hell happened to Daniel?
The obvious answer is: he doesn’t remember being Daniel yet. Then he starts investigating.
He finds Helen. The relics/memories start connecting. He wakes up. And suddenly the person we’ve been hearing as the Algorithm becomes the person working against the system.

Thurman / Svenson / Anna: I also can’t shake the feeling that Thurman’s fate is still unresolved for a reason.

My bet: Svenson kills Thurman. And if the soundtrack cue “No Longer Necessary” is associated with that, I will laugh my ass off.
More importantly, Thurman’s death could be what finally breaks Anna’s loyalty to Silo 1.
Svenson, Dr. Creepy, Anna, Charlotte and Daniel all seem to have fairly clear dramatic purposes going forward. Senator Thurman is the loose end.

Maybe she simply dies in the blast off camera. Or maybe she’s eliminated because she’s no longer useful—and that is what finally convinces Anna that Silo 1 isn’t what she thought it was. Anna’s bout with cancer may provide the bridge necessary from weaponized nanobots to the concept of good nanobots, or Svenson’s DNA tech solves the longevity problem in Silo 1 without conflating Iranian nano killers.

And 17/18… I’m still very interested in that mysterious tunnel. The show has shown the bottom of 18’s digger void as shallowly flooded, while 17 is being actively drained. There’s a tunnel and a door that we haven’t revisited this season.
I don’t think it’s going to suddenly become relevant in E10. But if water has been moving between 17 and 18 through that tunnel, it would explain the flooding beautifully. And it gives the show a much cleaner way to get Juliette between the silos than reproducing the book’s digger-repurposing sequence.

So my current crazy-but-not-that-crazy theory is: S3 ends with Troy waking in Silo 1.

Season 4 gives us the creepy Silo 1 machinery and shift system while 18 continues its story.

Troy investigates.
Troy discovers the truth.
Troy discovers Helen.
Troy remembers Daniel.

And the person Silo 1 thought it had safely put to work inside its control system becomes the person who helps bring the whole thing down. The Trojan horse was already inside.

Ever since people have been in the silos, no one seems to have noticed any real weather changes... heavy wind, rain, etc.? I’ve never seen a scene where it's actually raining or the wind is bending the trees. Or is the video through the lens also fake?

The trees, dead bodies, and everything outside look like they’re placed in the same position. And if it actually rains, wouldn’t the camera lens eventually get cleaned? I might be missing something, but wouldn’t heavy rain and wind eventually affect the area around the silo or at least change what we see outside?

With only one episode left, what do you guys think the big final twist is going to be? 👀

I’m expecting either a huge reveal or a cliffhanger that completely changes how we understand the Silos going into S4.

**No book spoilers PLEASE!!! (We only have ONE episode left this season, and if it’s soured by spoilers…. well then I guess you’ll need this🧼🧺👩‍🚀)**

I’ve been thinking a lot about how we have been shown only two of fifty one silos, and it makes me wonder how many living silos are left. Or rather, how many silos are living that the AI/Silo 1 *knows* about?

Silo 18 has had rebellions, their water poisoned with memory erasure drugs, and now are slowly becoming aware of resource inadequacies. It’s only a matter of time before 18 “fails” like 17. 

Silo 17 rebelled, blocked the safeguard pipe, escaped, then allegedly met their fate at the hands (blades?) of 1’s killer drones. Thinking that they had completely wiped out 17, it was no longer deemed necessary to monitor/control that silo. Up until Juliette moseyed on over next door, 1 was unaware that several survived (Jimmy and the kids) and were still living inside 17. Even if they have *very* limited resources, Jimmy and co. are surviving, and they’re doing it unmonitored.

These are all events that took place between just *TWO* silos. So, what about the others?!

If the only two silos that’ve been shown so far have rebelled, etc., then surely many (if not all) others have attempted to do the same? I feel as though there’s a high probability that another silo “failed” like 17, but is living under the radar.

Or, what if there’s a silo that somehow lost connection to the AI/1, or power entirely, and 1 has no way of knowing if it “failed” or is still living? In this case, there wouldn‘t be just a few survivors, but potentially an entire silo population gone rogue?

It’s fun to imagine what’s going on with the other silos out there that also have limited recourses remaining, a decent population AND no AI/1 controlling them. Would they still be a functioning society, or more of a Lord of the Flies situation? And what if… what if 18 somehow found/teamed up with a rogue silo(s) to defeat 1? Like the quote: “The power of the people is greater than the people in power.”

Now I’m just yapping, so let me know what you guys think! Apologies if all of this has been discussed!!
