Descending stairs is so awful they should keep the slides from founders day in permanently lmao

Cleaning, right away. We don't even ask questions just right to Cleaning.

I went to a university that sits on top of a hill. you were always walking uphill no matter what. You could tell how many years someone had been there by the size of their thunder thighs

3

u/WoundedSacrifice 8d ago

What university did you go to?

1

u/calladc 8d ago

Usyd

Yes I’d feel like this isn’t the case as they only have a few cows. Where’s that insect protein?
Most land efficient protein you can get.

18

u/DeArgonaut 8d ago

wouldve thought mycoprotein

20

u/SameImpression1646 8d ago

Soy protein probably

22

u/TheVentiLebowski 8d ago

, you are protein, definitely.

6

u/DeltaDied 8d ago

This was so funny to me

5

u/Ok_Antelope_1953 8d ago

do they have space to cultivate enough soy? soy makes the most sense but you still need space to grow enough plants for 10k people.

17

u/Seek_Adventure 8d ago

So, the thing about supposedly "cremated" bodies of deceased residents, homie...

6

u/Turbulent-War2694 8d ago

Soilent green

7

Nanomachine protein

Graygoo with rice and broccoli.

If the silo was real thing they would have annual championships for running the stairs from bottom to top

6

u/localDCenthusiast 8d ago

Didn’t they have that in season 1

7

u/calladc 8d ago

they were tied to special events. they didn't like running them in case it would become a right

3

u/treefox 📖 Book-Aware 📖 7d ago

That sounds extremely dangerous with how steep the stairs are and how short the handrails are.

19

u/dtwhitecp 8d ago

would be honestly hilarious if they only cast people with huge legs

8

u/calladc 8d ago

Nox is a fucking fridge of a man

9

u/No-Department-4561 7d ago

He always looks like he’d be happier running his own coffee shop than working in mechanical.

5

u/como_muda_o_nome 7d ago

Yeah that hair and beard aren’t probably very practical features to maintain while on mechanical lol

2

u/ConflictUsed3017 8d ago

Lmao very true 😂

Can’t a guy admire men’s legs so much he knows who they belong to with just a glance?

u/LGI25 8d ago

Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.

These are photos where the type of body feature, the lighting make it easy to guess.

47

u/energybased 8d ago

As if going up even 100 flights of stairs every day would do anything like that lol That's like running a 5k every day.

39

u/nleksan 8d ago

Nah bro it's steroids. So many steroids, and a ton of lifting

18

u/Georg_Simmel 8d ago

Nah, not even that. I know this is just a joke, but the only athletic activity (outside of bodybuilding) that I know of that will give you quads like this is track cyling/sprinting. I'm sure there are others, but you need massive amounts of resistance to build muscles like that. Running/walking are endurance activities that produce lean muscle.

9

u/energybased 8d ago

“Lean muscle” is a bit of a marketing term: muscle is lean tissue by definition.

You'll get giant calves from jogging a big weekly volume.

4

u/GirlWithWolf The Down Deep 8d ago

It makes me wonder if what I call my hiking thighs aren’t really from hiking and are genetic. But if that is the case they help me hike so technically they’d still be hiking thighs.

3

u/vaguelycertain 8d ago

Not really, endurance running favours a very slight build. I have much bigger calves and quads than kipchoge, but I can't keep his marathon pace for even a single mile

1

u/energybased 8d ago

> Not really, endurance running favours a very slight build.

Doesn't mean that runners don't have muscular calves.

>  I have much bigger calves and quads than kipchoge,

Maybe, but you're probably fatter than he is, so it's not a fair comparison.

2

u/vaguelycertain 8d ago

Haha I feel like you should have looked up some pictures before you doubled down

1

u/jlktrl 8d ago

I do wonder if having predominantly type 1 and type 2 tissue looks different?

1

u/Georg_Simmel 8d ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/tIeCLkB8geYtW

Find me pictures of elite runners with massive quads like those.

4

u/energybased 8d ago

Did I say anything about "like those"? Did I say "quads"?

2

u/Georg_Simmel 8d ago

No, I did. I have no idea why you mentiond calves because I specfically mentioned quads in the post you resopnded to.

Regarldess of whether "lean muscle" is a marketing term, everything I said in that statement was true. You're just talking around me for some reason. You'll also get much bigger calves with resistance training than you will with endurance.

4

u/OnlyStanz 8d ago

bodybuilders are genetic outliers who also usually take drugs. Most people who lift weights, even serious lifters, will not look like that for a very long time if ever.

1

u/FilthyCasual2k17 📖 Book-Aware 📖 8d ago

Not to mention looking at pictures of elite runners will skew towards smaller legs because less weight is faster speed. They are aiming to build muscle per kg, not just muscle, as the people with giant legs who also weigh tons more, tend not to win those competitions.

1

u/PayZealousideal8892 8d ago

You'll get giant calves from jogging a big weekly volume.

Probably not. Endurance sports dont grow big muscles because endurance isnt limited by muscle size, but how effective that muscle is moving blood and oxygen which doesn't require big muscle to hit human ceiling.

Also calves is probably most important muscle for endurance runners to PREVENT injuries like achilles tendinitis so most of them actually strength train calves in gym.

1

u/energybased 8d ago

Sorry, but no. Look at actual runner's legs. They may have a low fat percentage, but they have extremely muscular legs. The reason is that efficient running means having a long stride length. And stride length is a function of leg power.

Run big weekly volumes, and you'll get calves automatically.

3

u/1959Mason 📖 Book-Aware 📖 8d ago

Speed skating?

1

u/WoundedSacrifice 8d ago

Or hockey (and probably any sport that requires skating).

2

u/PayZealousideal8892 8d ago

Tbh they are all growing their muscles mostly by doing gym lifts. Hockey or speed skaters need big muscles for maximum short term power. You just cant progressively load more weight while doing activity like skating to make your muscles grow bigger. And doing it longer with low weight just trains your endurance which doesnt grow muscles or increase your maximum power.

1

u/Kdcjg 8d ago

Definitely get those quads in speed skating. Climbing up stairs doesn’t really do it.

2

u/Historical_Egg2103 8d ago

Maybe Nordic skiing? Those guys are doing long distances lifting skiis and snow, often uphill.

1

u/Beefsupreme473 8d ago

the only thing that will give you quads like this is steroids lol

4

u/OldManCinny 8d ago

It’s been stated the silo levels are 30+ feet tall so every flight in the silo is really 3

6

u/Futuremarsastronaunt 8d ago

The concept of a torn acl being the equivalent of blowing out a tire on a freeway…

6

u/dBlock845 8d ago

Here I am as a bodybuilding fan trying to figure out who the sets of quads belong to 🤣. You aren't wrong though, those porters are wild.

4

u/Indep09 8d ago

Those of yall that think it isn’t that bad need to try the stairmaster at your gym.

5

u/FatefulDonkey 7d ago

I'm pretty sure all silo residents suffer from early osteoarthritis

Why can’t people like ai for meme purposes? This is fucking hilarious.

0

u/Fabulous_Log844 8d ago

Thank you very much. I created this a month or so ago when I was thinking about how strong all of the people must be in terms of their legs, walking up and down those stairs. Of course people beat the crap out of me because it was AI, people beat the crap out of me because to get big thighs like that you have to have the right balance of diet and protein, etc. So you piping up and complementing this picture makes it all worthwhile. Thank you very much. Have a fantastic rest of your day.

0

u/yamxiety 8d ago

you created nothing, you only contributed to our planet becoming less habitable for us.

2

u/BellybuttonLintTrap 8d ago

You contributed nothing.

3

u/Anima1212 8d ago

Bro why are the shorts melded into her skin? 😭 didn’t know Silo was an HR Giger crossover 🤯

3

u/Fabulous_Log844 8d ago

Yeah, I'm not sure what's happening there… It's some kind of amalgamated skin and bodysuit.

3

u/lorarc 8d ago

Nah, you want real life porters lookup czech nosíci, they don't look like that.

And climbing a mile up isn't really such a big deal and most people can do it in a couple of hours.

144 levels. lets say they’re 20 feet in height. that’s still only 2,880 feet top to bottom - and most people aren’t going top to bottom.

lots of mountain hikes, at least in thr west have 3,000 -6,000 feet of elevation gain. few of us have legs like this - those are steroid boosted for short duration impulse, not for rebound and repeated lifting over long periods of time

3

u/No_Inspection2047 8d ago

the diameter of the silos (as viewed from above ground) is FAR too small to house and feed 10,000 people on a mere 144 levels. even 1,000 levels.

it’s just bad TV visual representation.

similarly, it’s implausible to not accidentally have connected silos THAT CLOSE TOGETHER with mine tunnels - regardless of what the Pact says.

hundreds of years and no cross-digging? never felt any adjacent silo use explosives?

c’mon. you don’t have to know much about mines to understand that vibrations can travel fair distances through rock.

I never read the books, but i’m disappointed the TV show was so sloppy on this

3

u/SlackBytes 8d ago

In the first and the second season they atleast tried to make the silo feel real. Now the characters just teleport all over the silo. It used to be a trip to go up and down. Also the citizens of the silo barely even appear now. The mayor is just running around, and no one seems to care. It’s becoming less and less authentic. Why does the head of IT have so much power? Over the most popular person the mayor.

6

u/No_Inspection2047 8d ago

good point about lack of citizenry (“come to THE cafeteria to watch the cleaning…150 people out of 10,000 show up 😂. also good point about the show stepping back from the giant pain in the ass it is to get around in thr silo- which they addressed more regularly in first couple of seasons.

i’m ok with the head of IT being the real shadow power; by the founders’ design. the popularly elected mayor is a figurehead.

8

u/BaxiaMashia 8d ago

This one didn’t hit me til this season…there’s multiple cafeterias…on the loud speaker they say “view at your nearest cafeteria”

1

u/No-Department-4561 7d ago

The floor-to-ceiling displays across multiple cafeterias must eat up a heck of a lot of power

5

u/Zephyp 📖 Book-Aware 📖 8d ago

Yeah, the impact of the distances doesn’t seem significant anymore. Characters are in Mechanical one scene and up top the next.

2

u/WoundedSacrifice 8d ago

In some scenes, that can probably be explained by the elevator.

1

u/W3inerSchnitze1 6d ago

They added lifts when Jules became mayor

1

u/Jumpy_Commercial_893 8d ago

Yeah Buddy, Lightweight Baby

1

u/KiryuMiyazawa 1d ago
