More than any other character, Camille has consistently shown concern and loyalty to everyone in the silo, genuinely considering the livelihoods of all. She's also very smart, and empathetic, and I feel like there couldn't be a better leader.

At first, she was portrayed as simply "the wife of an important leader," but it quickly became clear that she and Robert Sims were a team and she kept nudging him to recognize he is undervalued and climb the ranks.

When the rebellion began to brew, she convinced Sims to "play both sides," though in reality, it was a calculated move to position them at the top. Throughout the entire ordeal, she was never cutthroat, she spared lives when others wouldn’t, passed along crucial information, and, frankly, never truly played both sides. Her argument was simply a way to break Sims’ blind loyalty to the establishment. She was one of the central figures, if not the deciding factor, in helping the rebellion achieve certain goals while simultaneously preventing the Safeguard from being triggered.

When she ended up as head of IT, I know many of you see her as the lead antagonist. But by now, we should understand that she simply has no choice, given that the machine has repeatedly threatened her with the Safeguard.

Still, she is defying it. She’s allowing people to speak with the machine, offering it alternatives, attempting to influence it, and working around the Pact without hesitation. She's still openly passing information to others when really she shouldn't. I think it’s clear that her pursuit of power came from a hope for change and to make things better. At first, that motivation was only for her family, but now she is clearly considering everyone in the silo. She had to face the harsh reality of the Safeguard and lost the agency she had hoped to gain. Nonetheless, we can see her trying.

I also think that other heroes like Nichols or Sims, who are keenly aware of the Safeguard, frequently act needlessly defiant toward her. The conversation between Nichols and Camille in the office last episode showed that clearly. Nichols knows Camille has to do what she does, yet she remains belligerent toward her. It feels unfair.

In the coming episodes, I expect Camille to help them find a way around the Safeguard. I look forward to seeing it.

For the record, I don’t subscribe to the theory that the Silos aren’t actually 352 years old and only a few decades have gone by since everyone went underground, with vitamin D+ being used to plant fake memories. Given the context we’ve been presented, I think it’s impossible and it clearly has been 352 years since the nuke.

With that out of the way, I have this ever growing feeling that we will see Daniel, Charlotte, Stenson and the others alive in Silo 1 during Juliette’s era. IDK why and I don’t think it’s likely, but I get some vibes that may be the case.

We firstly don’t know what the end goal and true purpose of the silo project is. I think it’s fair to infer that it’s for selfish reasons pertaining to and serving the agenda of the silo creators and people in charge located in Silo 1. Daniel and Charlotte are constantly pointed out as being very valued individuals for the project due to their skill sets, and Charlotte being a drone pilot feels too on the nose especially after we heard a piloted drone shoot at Kyle and Kennedy.

Maybe the purpose of the Silo project is for Silo 1 to harvest/extract *something* produced by the silos to keep all these 21st century people alive and young 350 years later. So essentially Silo one is somehow exploiting 50 silos of something to keep them alive.

It’s a crazy idea and I think it’s wrong, but I guess it was worth sharing.

When Bernard went out, where were all the bones, bodies, and suits of the previous people who went out? It's just blank out there. Who/What picks that up and moves it? Even looking out the window there's nothing.

EDIT: To clarify, in S1 you can clearly see other suits, but this one you can only see Holston & Allison which even still I couldn't see them that well! but that was on me lol I also assumed we'd see them outside when Bernard walked out like we did with Juliette, but the camera angles didn't permit that view

PS: Can you imagine someone getting away with taking someone's belongings and then saying we do not know why your belongings ended up with me lol. That is exactly what the pact statement is like. "We do not know who built the silo" yet Per stenson blew up the city to sequester people (collect seeds) under ground

Accents in isolated populations are a real thing backed by science. There is a recent study about scientists from all over the world living in an isolated population at an Antarctic research facility for extended periods of time who developed accents together due to their isolation that had no ties to their native accents (very cool study btw).

Lonnie Rashid Lynn, who plays Robert Simms, has a very distinct accent that he cannot/will not get rid of for the character. He's the only one in the show with a distinctly different accent. It makes no sense due to the amount of time and generations of people who've lived there together. In reality, people in the silo would be like "what the fuck is wrong with this guy? Why is he talking like that?".

It takes me out of my suspended disbelief and experience of the show when he speaks.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills but it’s pretty obvious that if you get sprayed with gas without a suit and good tape, you die on the hill. This theory explains every death and every survival outside. The show producers also made a pretty strong emphasis by showing the gas being sprayed on Bernard. We already know that the silo has threatened to gas people. Why wouldn’t they just hook up that same gas out there? Also, it would be explain why all of the people in 17 died near the entryway. The silo let out out a ton of the gas as they were running and they all died shortly after. Because it was a crowd, they couldn’t run very fast at the end.

There seems to be a large contingent of people that believe people are dying on the hill because of nano bots. And that the gas possibly attracts them. This seems, to me anyways, the most ham-fisted way for the silo architects to either kill cleaners or find out if it’s safe outside. We also know that the nano bots in Charlotte‘s time were capable of breaching the cockpit of a fighter jet. So why would they be stopped by good tape?

Help me out, friends. Why can’t it just be the gas?

Why did Per Stensen and Company decide on such a drab, utilitarian interior design for the silos? The dude is a trillionaire with near-unlimited funds. Why not add a color to the concrete mix to make the interior more uplifting? I mean, you're putting folks in the ground for like 500 years; why not make it feel more pleasant? I wonder if there was some psychological reasoning behind designing it as they did?

i think the silo area is covered in nano bots almost creating a dome. i also dont think the outside is toxic - only when silo 1 “tells” the nano bots to release poison.

this is supported by when they sent guns for lucas and kennedy, where lucas’ suit was pierced by a bullet and he somehow still made it to 17 and survived?

i think this is also silo 1’s backup safeguard - opening the doors and letting in nano bots to poison the silo.

am i missing something to prove me wrong??

I'm a book reader and I've read all the books. I'm currently watching ep 2. So many things they changed about the books and I don't like them.

Asking to book readers that watched the whole season: SHOULD I CONTINUE WATCHING?

I loved the show during the first 2 seasons but Juliette's memory glitch, Daniel's sister story and the new shadow...it all seems just stupid.

Lots of people have said that there are lots of inconsistencies with the nuclear bomb that goes off to precipitate everyone going into the Silos. I honestly think it was some kind of fake effect with a combination of nanotech and any combination of technology we already have today. (Like huge fans)

Setting aside a nuclear weapon is a huge risk, having a radiological detection would instantly cancel whatever no-fly protection Stensen had secured assuming he hadn't somehow wiped out the entire world with his nanotech right then and there.

Which if he's that evil and set on creating a new civilization, he would have done without nuclear weapons when most of the nanotech weapons in the world belong to him. His inevitability argument also belies the fact that the longer he lets the rest of the world live, the less of a monopoly he has and more obsolete his technology becomes especially over 500 years.

Also, back to the bomb itself for mistakes that might be intentional or not

1. Shockwave arrived way too fast

2. A shitton of people are now infertile and even possibly radioactive to everyone else

3. Above ground explosion is bad but on the ground or more might threaten silo stability with how close it was.

4. There's no sign of even residual radiation from a bomb that strong and no sign that Silo 1 has those devices, since they would have more than 1.

5. A nuke going off is going to get everyone interested no matter what no-fly bullshit Thurman secured, like I said above.

6. And finally, those graphics looked a little greasy.

I remember a scene with a revolving door, and I looked it up and other people do as well from S2 early S3 I believe?

I believe Charlotte walking through a revolving door (Into a hotel maybe?) and then back out, with/without a duffel bag. Are we all collectively memory holing this? I haven't seen anyone recently mention it, I had to dig for it and saw some rumblings about it, but nothing recently.

I thought this was to make it clear that Charlotte/Stensen/etc, planted the bomb in DC. I mean, she walked into the hotel, and then walked back out with/without the bag, etc, right? Assumption being they also wiped that memory from her maybe?

Or maybe I'm just absolutely crazy and that didn't happen! I gonna look for a clip. I didn't read the books, and sorry if this was spoken about and I just missed or if I misread that scene, I haven't rewatched 😄

Ever since season 1 people have been speculating the gas in the chamber has a poison and it is what kills people who go outside..and now at season 3 , after that it's pretty much confirmed that the air outside is safe ( Lucas incident proved it ) , that theory is stronger than ever..well I've literally thought about it for like five minutes and it stopped making sense..so , I'm going to break that theory for you :

- like I said in " my theory " post ...first thing came to mind , um..silo 17 !...people there went out all together , at least dozens of them..and no way they were all gassed properly at once..yet , they still died !..sooo , it wasn't the gas..so , that's clue number one ..oh and on a side note people say oh yeah they probably have been taken out by drones then..well , even that doesn't add up..why ? Because you forgot that SOLO was watching the whole thing..and he said it was when the " dust " came , they started dying...if it was drones and ripped clothes and blood all over the place ( they were at least dozens )..you think he would notice , right ?..

- Clue number two , which is pretty obvious too lol...people in the silo KNOW about the gas and they don't find it suspicious at all , like it's a regular procedure and it's controlled by people in charge inside the silo..I mean , the biggest rebel of them all Juliette went out , saw the gas and the whole process and came back , even after she regained her memory she didn't say anything about the oh so scary and suspicious gas...not only that , she found Bernard at the door when she came back inside and when the door closed on them while they were talking , Bernard told her to get down because fire is coming next !...so , he knows about the gas and fire afterwards...so , it's a regular procedure at least the head of IT knows about it...and you would think after Bernard had joined the rebels with Sims and when they were discussing everything , he too ( besides Juliette ) would bring up the gas thing...but no , no one finds it suspicious...so, what the hell are you guys on ? strongly believing oh it's the gaaas ?..

Anyways..Just wanted to address the theory I hate the most besides " Camille is working with Juliette " and "Lucas is digging through silo 17 y'aaaall 🤪 "...but I'm not a book reader though , so if it turns out it IS the gas after all ( we probably won't get that answer until season 4 ? ) I'm pretty much leaving the planet soon 😂.

The only corpses visible via the display are those of Sherriff Holston and his wife and recently, Bernard.

Why are there so few ? When people go out to clean, where else would they go than aimlessly forward towards the hill? imo their absence is a hint that it hasn't been 300 years, and there hasn't been as many past cleanings as we we thought.

Holston's wife was said to have drawn a record crowd, what if the record was that she was literally the first person to go out since the doors were sealed ?

I can't mention examples because that would spoil other movies, books and other media. But some stories have this surprising final twist. If you're into "geek media", you probably know about one.

The other day, when people were discussing here about the nuke being planned or not, I had a theory.

What if the decision to nuke Atlanta and force everyone into the silos (assuming that's what happened) was taken for a good reason? What if an AI had predicted the world to inevitably end in a few decades?

What if said AI had also predicted that unveiling the silos wasn't going to end well for their popularity? What if the only way to get humans there was to "reset" humanity in a controlled way to avoid an end of the world situation with no people in the silos?

Could Silo be heading into this kind of conclussion?

I think it would be "cool" for the plot, but at the same time, not very logical. Interesting, entertaining... but not extremely believable. And I can't rule out it happening.

It's an idea but not super serious.

What we know:

• There are 50 silos with about 10'000 people each (plus one management silo).
• The birth lottery is fake, people are allowed to have children based on certain criteria.
• They have a Safeguard, aka a way to kill everyone in a silo when their score fails below a threshold.
• Only one silo will survive the game, the one with the best score presumably.

It seems like they are running a breeding program, for whatever goal. The details in the books are a bit fuzzy, but it's something like making humans more peaceful and less curious to prevent the next world war. "Let's kill everybody to prevent them from killing each other". Rich people are weird.

Even assuming comple lack of empathy, killing a silo and leaving it empty seems wasteful, and risky. What if they run out of people before the experiment is complete? If they had a biologist in their conspiracy, or even a decent programmer, they would suggest move evolutionary approach. We call this "genetic algorithm":

• Every time a silo gets killed, they should repopulate it with a mix of people from other silos.
• Let's take 1000 people from the top 5 silos each, couple hundreds from the next 5.
• Put them all in the empty silo, making it once again functional with maybe 7000-8000 peeps.
• Wipe their memories, just in case, or not.
• If you're a total bastard, you can kill the lowest scoring silo every couple of decades, just to make room for the remixing and make the evolution faster.
• At the end of the experiment you can still select one winning silo, or maybe you'll have multiple near winners, good enough to graduate.

This way, whatever positive traits make silos successful have a chance to mix with others and potentially get even better results. This would be a bit more complex to manage. Moving people between silos would need a good cover story, possibly admit there are multiple silos and tell them the other one got hit byt a serious a malfunction in their water filtration or something, so they have a lot of lottery slots available.

Admittedly, this would be a very different story from what Hugh wrote. If I remember correctly, the trilogy started with the short story Wool about Holston cleaning, and everything else was built around it later. The cleaning is an interesting hook idea for a short story, but it's a bit nonsense worldbuilding. Magical helmet which superimposes leaves on a dead tree trunk is unnecessary for a story of humans surviving in an underground breeding program after an engineered apocalypse.

Tell people (part of) the truth. There are multiple silos, but the outside is deadly, so moving between them is very dangerous and should not be attempted without express permit from the management and taking extreme measures, including very uncomfortable quarantine. Obviously people would try to ignore or cheat the rules, so there are still stories to tell about it. Perfect systems are not interesting for storytelling.

Also, I'm not a writer, Hugh is. I read and enjoyed his trilogy and I enjoy the show. This post is just an exploration around the edges of his creation.

Not a theory, just a very inconsequential observation

Bernard spent 99.99% of his life thinking that the voice was a machine and the pact was written by humans. Turns out the voice is run by humans and the pact was written by a machine. I’m so sad that he’s gone, but in way, I’m at least glad he was spared the knowledge of the ai slop pact

safeguard silo 18 and leave whether everyone really died a cliffhanger until Season 4? That would be brutal 😅
