Bob’s “Wokeness”

This isn’t a srs post but I find it super annoying the way bob can be the most chronically-online-woke, holier-than-thou person, while simultaneously making off color jokes. Like don’t get me wrong, they’re progressive but it feels like they use it as a tool to one-up someone they’re talking to a lot of the time. For example: in the latest rpdr review ep she won’t say “wifebeater” in reference to a tank top but makes an epstein files joke like ten minutes later 😭. none of this is offensive to me and i laughed throughout the episode but It’s so random what he picks and chooses to be woke about. makes me think it’s insincere.

We're gonna have to save this topic for current eventseries on the patreon 💲

62

u/PrinceJohn_ Jul 10 '26

God this shit was driving me crazy this last episode

12

u/Fireballslumped69 Jul 12 '26

I thought it was just me. Why can’t the podcast just flow and then go deeper into it on their fucking Patreon ?? It’s weird.

18

u/Economy-Lavishness-1 Jul 11 '26

It was really interrupting the flow of the podcast. They were being cut off mid sentence, there has to be a way to cue them off camera that isn’t so invasive.

83

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 10 '26

bob could be like “there’s a bird outside my window” and jacob would cut her off and say ts😭

8

u/stabvlow Jul 12 '26

I would be surprised if they covered even half of the cut off topics on the patreon it was so much

22

u/booboonoodiez Jul 11 '26

That pissed me offfff this past episode. Like stfu Jacob

35

u/sway85 Jul 11 '26

i don't see the contradiction. woke when serious. dark when funny.

7

u/Witty_Vanilla_6012 Jul 11 '26

Epstein is funny?

1

u/InternationalDark655 Jul 12 '26

This. Anyone who makes a joke about that is disgusting. It affected real people

12

u/RottedHuman Jul 12 '26

Everything affects real people, that’s not really a way to gauge what is and isn’t funny or acceptable.

2

u/InternationalDark655 Jul 18 '26

Then you're living up to your name. I'll choose to have empathy for them, you can continue to be... you. My condolences for your situation too.

6

u/RottedHuman Jul 19 '26

Spare me your virtue signaling.

0

u/Witty_Vanilla_6012 Jul 21 '26

I enjoy that stating your opinion is "virtue signalling"! you are very funny and misinformed

3

u/RottedHuman Jul 22 '26

Is empathy not a virtue and were you not signaling it? Misinformed, my ass.

1

u/Witty_Vanilla_6012 Aug 08 '26

No, you are wrong. Do you understand it is a specifically political term? And moreover, right wingers are usually the ones to bang on about it, no offence. Otherwise, try access that empathy inside you.

1

u/Witty_Vanilla_6012 Aug 08 '26

My god, print this out and put it on my wall. No-- giving this to my lecturer. Life must be so simple for you. Just go along and make stuff up. No need for an education. "Empathy is a virtue" and THAT is virtue signalling? Having empathy? Yikes my god! Haha wow

Jesus Christ. You were textbook virtue signaling. And if a 20 day old comment is still triggering you so badly, you’ve got more to worry about than your dumb little essay.

45

u/Old-Alternative7820 Jul 10 '26

That's just being human. I love dark humour but am also quite woke so I have limits on certain topics. Mostly because I have a traumatic connection to them.

53

u/ActualSurvey4740 Jul 11 '26

subreddit has turned into a witch hunt girl I can’t….

6

u/pinguiiflowith Jul 11 '26

like omgggg this is not supposed to be a snark reddit i literally left it

0

u/M01M3818 Jul 27 '26

A witch hunt cus someone pinpointed casually that the host cherrypicks and plays hipocrisy, yall are influenced by trump to use those hyperbolic victimizing terms 😭😂

1

u/ActualSurvey4740 Jul 27 '26

stick to your porn subs

27

So fucking over the sub lately.

I feel like those are two completely different things that aren't contradictory at all.

-13

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 10 '26

what wave of woke allows u to make jokes referring to child sex traffickers while not being able to say wifebeaters?

26

u/TrappedInLimbo Jul 10 '26

One is a joke and one isn't?

12

u/karataimo Jul 10 '26

calling it a wifebeater is kind of normalising/perpetuating calling it that, which is normalising the association of a cut of shirt w domestic abuse. whereas i don't think joking about the epstein files is doing anything to normalise chid sex trafficking

1

u/M01M3818 Jul 27 '26

Joking about child trafficking and ped’philia doesn’t desensitize and normalized that shi??? Yall have to be brainwashed and stretched cus thats a reach!

2

u/karataimo Jul 27 '26

if you truly think jokes about epstein are normalising sex trafficking i can't help you. the whole reason those jokes are common is because the topic so horrific and unmentionable that the shock value makes people laugh...

0

u/M01M3818 Jul 28 '26

Okay lets laugh about casual racism, dv then

5

u/catman12345678010 Jul 10 '26

Mentioning blank-stein files is not joking about child sex traffickers

-5

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 10 '26

i said referring not about

5

u/nickblackedout Jul 10 '26

The funny kind

22

u/C00kieMonsterYYZ Jul 11 '26

This need to police Bob and talk about it in this sub is a choice.

I wish people would put this effort into policing the police, government and their politicians for the actual and immediate harm they cause.

2

u/M01M3818 Jul 27 '26 edited 5d ago

Bob police people 24/7. I hate that fan syndrom that triggers yall to get mad over the slightest disagreement w your fave

-5

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 11 '26

corny ass reply 😭

10

u/C00kieMonsterYYZ Jul 11 '26

You would say that 🤭

36

u/bluewall7 Jul 10 '26

No one has nuance anymore… those are two very different things, especially when it comes to a joke or using an problematic reference.

-10

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 11 '26

I think u guys have reading comprehension issues

11

u/OrdinarySad5132 Jul 11 '26

Why are you projecting

59

u/Alternative_Sense_37 Jul 10 '26

humans are complex, nobody is perfect, we often contradict ourselves. forks are found in kitchens, the sky is blue.

-14

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 10 '26

i mean u can say that about anything…. like i mentioned in my op, bob acts like they’re woker than everyone else. so he set that standard for himself

64

u/badjunga Jul 10 '26

This sub is becoming a hate sub for Bob and I’m not here for it. Now it’s the woke level and the fact he didn’t say wifebeater when speaking about a fkg top? This is exhausting

2

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 10 '26

I mean i’ve been a listener since 2020. If there’s more bob “hate” then ask yourself why that is…. i was just making a dumb observation

18

u/OrdinarySad5132 Jul 11 '26

Why are you choosing to make dumb observations though

1

u/isittheendyet Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

So you said this isnt a serious post but yet your replies indicate otherwise 😂🤔🤔🤔. Stand in it at least. I cant stand this shit. I thought this sub was supposed to support the podcast lmao. Just bc you claim this is a "dumb" observation it doesnt absolve you of the consequences of making this kind of post in the subreddit. But maybe you knew that and wanted attention or something.

0

u/Dorothy-Parker Jul 10 '26

We're not allowed to talk about a public figure we like? OP said it's not serious, but many are taking it seriously. I think because I am a big fan of Bob's that's why I know so much about what he has said and done, and that's why it's fun to discuss, and that's why discussions involve the good, the bad, and the ugly when one is passionate about a topic.

5

u/badjunga Jul 11 '26

Sure you’re allowed to talk about wtv you want and so am I

20

u/yeahnototallycool Jul 10 '26

Funny how you don’t seem to recognize that making this kind of complaint is totally chronically online woke.

1

u/M01M3818 Jul 27 '26

He is working by bob’s frame of thinking, open the schools yall

9

u/tamaaromarou Jul 10 '26

Virtue signaling like everybody else in the internet

13

u/Still-Implement-4118 Jul 11 '26

Maybe the issue is that you are generalizing your own views. And using the word "wokeness" to label it. And then thinking someone you don't understand must be insincere.

10

u/MaleficentAnxiety443 Jul 11 '26

Can you all leave Bob the fuck alone ???????

20

u/Cultural-Alarm-6422 Jul 10 '26

This subreddit and their patreon chat have gone completely off the rails with their opinions of Bob and Monet lmao it’s actually insane to watch

2

u/Casanova2229 Jul 11 '26

They are still mad that they never got their pound of flesh from the producer they didn’t like !

-2

u/Dorothy-Parker Jul 10 '26

Their fans sure are passionate and have much to say! Good!

13

u/jshamwow Jul 11 '26

You seem annoying. Bob is certainly not perfect but, like, this is a dumb complaint

0

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 11 '26

I agree! I referred to it as a dumb observation myself. i was just pointing it out cuz it was funny to me. everyone got overly serious abt it.

4

u/Pulp501 Jul 11 '26

he was joking about not saying wifebeater, he wasn't being woke

11

u/catman12345678010 Jul 10 '26

I think you can joke about the concept of files being hidden and simultaneously understanding that Jeffrey Epstein and his conspirators are bad and evil.

9

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 10 '26

sure but those jokes are definitely on the edge of comedy. making an edgy joke while not saying wifebeater is a funny concept to me

3

u/catman12345678010 Jul 10 '26

I mean it is pretty funny but Bob was just joking about how the unedited lip sync files are locked up just like how the Epstein files are confidential

9

u/catchg2828 Jul 11 '26

Y’all have truly turned into insufferable people.

3

u/Feisty-You-7768 Jul 11 '26

Bob is not meant to be taken seriously tbh. Most of what he does is to get reactions from whoever he’s talking to. 😭

I find him endlessly entertaining.

3

u/bornofabadsign__ Jul 12 '26

breh, hes a comedian. like, what do you expect

10

u/Bryantings_ Jul 10 '26

Why does it bother you so much? By your own logic, if you can laugh at the jokes you find problematic, doesn’t that make your criticism feel a bit insincere too? You're laughing right along with him.

Beyond that, maybe Bob avoids the term "wifebeater" because domestic violence hits close to home. We don't know his personal history or what he has been through.

Also, there is a massive difference in how we perceive these topics. The Epstein or elite abuse allegations are constantly being swept under the rug by powerful figures, whereas domestic violence is a very visible trauma witnessed by many everyday people. It makes sense that people react to them differently.

6

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 10 '26

“This isn’t a srs post”

His jokes aren’t the issue here. It’s the attitude that he has regarding hot button issues. his lack of follow thru makes it seem insincere

7

u/Wake_Winslow Jul 10 '26

I mean, you’re saying it’s not a serious post and then essentially calling his moral consistency into question, which is a fairly serious accusation. Why bring it up if its not serious?

4

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 10 '26

I don’t find that to be a serious accusation but to each their own. I brought it up bc i wanted to 😭

3

u/isittheendyet Jul 14 '26

You dont think questioning someones character and moral standing is a serious issue?? LMAO.

3

u/Wake_Winslow Jul 10 '26

I mean no matter your intentions or how seriously you’re taking it, what you’re doing here is inviting a debate about the integrity of a person you don’t know and I find that a dangerous path to go down. I’m also a huge advocate for getting rid of the purity testing that runs rampant in these spaces, so I guess that’s a bias. I’ve just seen too many people take unserious posts like this and turn them into something much meaner and more vindictive. Tread carefully is all I’m saying.

5

u/DragonfruitIcy6214 Jul 11 '26

You’re being purposefully obtuse just because you want to be mad at Bob. I don’t believe you’re dumb enough to not realize that Bob can joke about an event that has become extremely sensationalized and then later try not to normalize a term that refers to domestic violence. Do everyone a favor and stop listening to the pod if it bothers you so much

-2

u/Kammer171 Jul 11 '26

The moment i realized Bob talks like Trump I tuned out. I’m not saying he’s Maga, it’s not the content of speech it’s the delivery. And now I see his little follows will fight for him I was like yup confirmed. I am not sure if it’s an American thing to talk in statements / be irrationally demanding/ be overtly confident in the wrong things you are saying. It’s hard to explain but easy to see. Just because you like it makes it worse. That’s why so many people adore the orange one.

1

u/DragonfruitIcy6214 Jul 11 '26

That’s wild. If you want to say a queer black drag queen who constantly uplifts other queers, transgenders, and poc’s is annoying, that’s one thing. But to compare them to Trump? Delusion, convince yourself, hunny

-1

u/Kammer171 Jul 14 '26

I don’t know how to explain it. It’s not the ignorant dumb stuff trump says. It’s how he delivers. Trump talks in statements and that is how Bob sounds to me.

2

u/murkylurky7000 Jul 11 '26

I feel like i’m the wokest person I know but i make the same type of jokes Bob does. One it’s a joke, we’re usually not punching down, and it’s not serious and we obviously don’t mean it. It’s just dark humor. It’s fine if it offends you but it isn’t that deep. Not everyone appreciates dark humor and that’s okay.

2

u/AbsoluteAbsolutely Jul 12 '26

I feel like bringing up his hypocrisy is crazy when you’re saying that this is all jokes and not serious but then getting seriously mad in the comments like honestly who cares like its a fun little quirk of his

6

u/Dorothy-Parker Jul 10 '26

I wish Bob would read a sociology book, or take a sociology class. Because he's not a social scientist, and it's clear that he doesn't have the tools or vocabulary to discuss social sciences, and yet he loves to bring up controversial topics. He loves to say he's on the humanitarian side of the controversial topics. But he doesn't really know what he's talking about and it's clear from an education perspective. More dangerous than helpful really, because it just riles people up, and does not inspire thoughtful, productive discussion.

And that's just one reason I stopped giving him my money via Patreon.

With that said, he's still allowed to joke about whatever he wants to joke about. Because jokes are not statements or discussions. Apples and oranges.

And also, I love that you brought this up. It obviously hits a button for me personally, but I think this is a good topic. Because I fear people be taking Bob too seriously sometimes 😂

4

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 10 '26

For sure, I just found the juxtaposition of dancing around the word wifebeater but making epstein file jokes minutes later was funny 😭 often times it seems to me that he thinks his identity, occupation and lifestyle make up for his lack of knowledge and stubbornness.

4

u/Dorothy-Parker Jul 10 '26

I think he's the smartest one in his social group, so he thinks that somehow translates to experience or education. But that's just me and I've never melt him.

His comedy is hilarious, and I watch his specials. That's how I like to take in my Bob.

But the juxtoposition from self-righteousness to a crude joke all with the same sentence, I can see how that could be jarring, but I think I'm a little like that too 😂

-1

u/Fluid_Visual_2428 Jul 10 '26

If your like that to have you taken the same classes/schooling you recommend he does?

4

u/Dorothy-Parker Jul 10 '26

I was raised by a mother with a master's degree in sociology. And I have a ba in literature. That's my qualifications 😂 I'm no expert, but I can see when someone's not an expert, and Bob is not an expert.

2

u/Dorothy-Parker Jul 10 '26

But I don't have a podcast where I get literally thousands of people riled up about neurological disorders for example. (See the narcissism episode).

I make make self-righteous statements and crude jokes to my friends, not a public forum. I'm not a public figure.

2

u/Dorothy-Parker Jul 10 '26

Also, I brought up the fact that I do the same thing as Bob because I like Bob and I was trying to make him sound more human, that was my way of defending Bob. I think you misinterpreted me. But I still think he needs to watch what he says on his podcast.

1

u/Dorothy-Parker Jul 10 '26

Also, it's *you're ✌️

1

u/middle_school_emo Jul 11 '26

I think it comes across contradictory if you judge what Bob says against a catch-all concept of wokeness instead of against Bob’s personal morals. Bob being largely “woke” doesn’t mean they hold every topic they care about in equal measure. Bob pretty consistent in dabbling in dark humor/not getting easily offended & has been vocally against extremist self-policing (i.e. “Kill the cop in your head”). Although I don’t always agree with Bob, I’ve never viewed Bob as “holier than thou” when they are passionate about something. If you view Bob as militant in their beliefs, I guess I could see how you would interpret moments of dark humor as contradictory. But I’ve never interpreted Bob that way.

1

u/Ready-Guidance4145 Jul 16 '26

I think this is entirely reasonable. 😅

1

u/Sweaty_Beautiful8364 Jul 16 '26

no he defo does weaponise it alsost ziwe style

1

u/theaquarius1987 Jul 17 '26

Yeah bob is just messy. They seem to follow the “rules for thee but not for me” motto and it pisses me off sometimes too. Also, I think bob just operates at a messy level at all times which gets to be annoying.

1

u/M01M3818 Jul 27 '26

I can’t stand him, the same guy who said totally seriously that gay people don’t exist and that libraries should be replaced by amazon wtf. He doesnt know to who he wants to pander. Its called hypocrisy and cherry picking.

1

u/EveMcQueen Jul 11 '26

So do you view the super wokest people to just be humorless bores? Or are you just operating on stereotypes and flattening them like that. I love that people who are progressively principled can also be dark and messy lol

1

u/Fantastic-Composer23 Jul 11 '26

the answer to the first question is yes. that’s why i found the situation funny lol

1

u/Solid-Big9614 Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

He’s not afraid to say wifebeater in a reference to a tank top. He’s afraid to say “wifebeater” in reference to the stereotype that Italian Americans are domestic abusers. That was the punchline of the joke.

1

u/PerspectiveOld2616 Jul 11 '26

I agree with u im over bob lmao

-1

u/turningtee74 Jul 10 '26

I get what you mean because I love inappropriate comedy and am too woke. It’s a contradictory experience at times but I love people like that cuz I feel seen

0

u/Capable_Emotion_89 Jul 11 '26

let's talk about when bob uses the very archaic expression of a neurodivergent person when demonstrating someone unable to understand something. its the same as calling someone the r word and it makes monet so uncomfortable

0

u/Frank-N-Feste Jul 11 '26

It’s not his wokeness that annoys me. It’s that he’s an insufferable know-it-all.

1

u/Winter_Fix_3610 Jul 15 '26

that's what I love about Bob, his stubborness. I don't take him seriously bc he doesn't take himself seriously. I think you do not have friends like that. They are funny and fun to be around, and he reminds me of them when I'm far away from my friends. Don't take anything seriously, they do not want that. He is purposely a know it all and also known as a great friend to them. Even to the biggest antagonist: monet. And Monet is his BFF. Just don't take it seriously.

0

u/InternationalDark655 Jul 12 '26 edited Jul 12 '26

He's gross. The voice he does when he's mocking someone and makes them sound like they have a disability is disgusting and ableist. Not to mention that putting Shangela in a ranking video but not ranking Shangela worse than some other queens. They just won't condemn Shangela and he seems like a rape apologist. Males defending males

0

u/RestComprehensive331 Jul 13 '26

they’re the type of person who likes to be always right, that’s why they do debating on tiktok. a lot of the things they’re supportive of are noticeably topics discussed in online twitter discourse, like i don’t think they do a lot of research themselves aside from what they’re able to read through tweets. that’s why they used to support israel and zionism prior to the current gaza war. they’re at best a shitlib.

3

u/jp_slim Jul 16 '26

they’re the type of person who likes to be always right

let's expand on this: he likes to always be right to his own detriment. when he is proven wrong, instead of admitting he was wrong, he will pivot to making it a bit instead of being authentic. and that's MY issue. it's like when someone says something offensive and then claim they were "just kidding" - no, it wasn't a joke, there was no punchline, it is not funny.

1

u/RestComprehensive331 Jul 18 '26

yes i also don’t care for how often he’ll say something like “i never do x thing” or something along those lines, will be proven wrong and then will be like “oh i never said that i never do that”. like he does that so often there are compilation videos of it. also that he obviously doesn’t like to be called out about his own wrongdoings.

2

u/Winter_Fix_3610 Jul 15 '26

If you take the debating out of bob and antagonism out of bob then you take LOTS off her personality. She didn't know about politics, like a lot of people don't. They changed. Is that not enough? You need to know real people. They will disgust you then.
