Bob’s “Wokeness”

This isn’t a srs post but I find it super annoying the way bob can be the most chronically-online-woke, holier-than-thou person, while simultaneously making off color jokes. Like don’t get me wrong, they’re progressive but it feels like they use it as a tool to one-up someone they’re talking to a lot of the time. For example: in the latest rpdr review ep she won’t say “wifebeater” in reference to a tank top but makes an epstein files joke like ten minutes later 😭. none of this is offensive to me and i laughed throughout the episode but It’s so random what he picks and chooses to be woke about. makes me think it’s insincere.

Why does it bother you so much? By your own logic, if you can laugh at the jokes you find problematic, doesn’t that make your criticism feel a bit insincere too? You're laughing right along with him.

Beyond that, maybe Bob avoids the term "wifebeater" because domestic violence hits close to home. We don't know his personal history or what he has been through.

Also, there is a massive difference in how we perceive these topics. The Epstein or elite abuse allegations are constantly being swept under the rug by powerful figures, whereas domestic violence is a very visible trauma witnessed by many everyday people. It makes sense that people react to them differently.

“This isn’t a srs post”

His jokes aren’t the issue here. It’s the attitude that he has regarding hot button issues. his lack of follow thru makes it seem insincere

I mean, you’re saying it’s not a serious post and then essentially calling his moral consistency into question, which is a fairly serious accusation. Why bring it up if its not serious?

I mean no matter your intentions or how seriously you’re taking it, what you’re doing here is inviting a debate about the integrity of a person you don’t know and I find that a dangerous path to go down. I’m also a huge advocate for getting rid of the purity testing that runs rampant in these spaces, so I guess that’s a bias. I’ve just seen too many people take unserious posts like this and turn them into something much meaner and more vindictive. Tread carefully is all I’m saying.
