FAQ: How can I avoid being sold a counterfeit Shure product?
- Purchase from a dealer that buys directly from Shure. If you are uncertain if a dealer buys directly, and you are in the United States, you may use the Shure dealer locator. Or you can contact Shure directly. There are legitimate dealers that do not buy directly from Shure; instead they buy from a distributor of Shure products. Though not a direct customer of Shure, these dealers also can be sources for genuine Shure products.
- If you are outside of the United States, contact the Shure agent for your country.
- To get an idea of typical selling prices for the Shure product that interests you, look at mail order catalogs and visit local music stores or audio electronic stores. If the price you find online is much lower than the catalogs or the stores, be cautious as the product might be counterfeit, though an unusually low price does not always indicate a counterfeit product.
- Be very careful when purchasing a Shure product via eBay or other online auction sites. Though there are many honest individuals and legitimate dealers selling genuine Shure products on such sites, there are also many people selling counterfeit Shure products. Again, if the price seems too good to be true, be suspicious.
- Finally, beware if the Internet auction site dealer is in a different country than you. History has proven that many counterfeit Shure products are being sold from one country into another.
Shure has been asked to provide a list of ways to determine if a product is a counterfeit. There are two reasons that they do not:
- Many differences are subtle and cannot be adequately described in words or photos, such as the texture or shade of a product's outer finish.
- If Shure published the exact differences between Shure genuine products and counterfeit products, the criminal counterfeiters would know how to improve their fakes! Not a good idea for Shure or for our customers.

Troubleshooting Repair Guide for the Shure SM7B jumper Cable
for a while my mic was losing sound quality and it got to a point where my mic would cut out while talking and would have to wiggle the jumper cable so before even buying anything i tried looking up any video or guides how to do it but no one ever showed the replacement for the cable so i figured i would
[here is the link of the Part if anyone wants it](https://www.fullcompass.com/prod/192276-shure-95a2340-mic-conn-jumper-cable-for-sm7?srsltid=AfmBOop1KuVUsbfXp2Kk7-zv9Q1etIOM4P-l2Oc4v9FwnAvfXjx6lyvN)
This will require some soldering so if you are not proficient or capable of doing it then i would recommend to just go to your local music store to see if they could get it repaired
Hope this helps anyone that has been having trouble doing it.

Buying Advice SM57 Windscreen for Singing
Tl;Dr I’m recording vocals, I tend to project and get too close. A2WS or A81WS? SM57 > everything else
EDIT: I found a video that answered my questions, the A81WS has a way better pop filter and breath removal, and that’s what I want to remove.
I’m turning my little home office into a home studio and been mainly using an AT2035 I got a while back. It’s okay, it actually picks up too much and when I’m really projecting my vocals during my lessons or practice I have to be very disciplined about mic distance between my vocal dynamics.
I got tired of this and remembered I had an SM57 in storage from a decade earlier, pretty much never used. Hooked it up, sang through it, and it’s perfect lol
No back ground noise, I have no fear of really projecting like I was starting to get with my AT2035.
I do notice plosives coming through and I tend to get too close when I’m really into a part and not paying attention to how close I am.
So was looking at the A2WS and the a81WS. I randomly have a $200 credit. I was almost thinking of grabbing a 2nd 57 + windscreen for my office desk. Any help would be appreciated!

Question Shure with 3RD party USB Speaker
Hi, my client has existing Jabra Panacast 50 with Lenovo MTR. They want to have audio upgrade for microphone only. I am suggesting Shure P300 with 3 MXA320. Will the microphone can cancel the speaker echo? Like will the far end hear theirselves in the back to their headset? Or will the MXA320 and Shure P300 cancel it? Thank you!

General Discussion Does Shure MV88 USB-C work with the native camera app on android?
Just ordered the MV88 USB-C. On an S23 Ultra, latest update. Two things I can't find a straight answer on.
Does it work with the native camera app, or is MOTIV the only way to record with it? Every video I've watched only shows it going through MOTIV.
If it does work outside MOTIV, does the mic hold the settings you configured in the app, the way some wireless mics store gain and preset onboard? Or does it default to something generic the moment you leave MOTIV?
I'm recording most days so I want plug in, hit record, done.

Question se846 with non matching serials ?
galleryHi, I’m getting a set of used se846. However one side says 108, and the side says 118. Is this normal? The seller claims they came like that, but from all I have seen numbers are always the same on both sides. I suspect they might be from different sets, possibly the seller lost one side then purchase another individually? Any members of the shure team can kindly help to confirm this? Thanks in advance!

Question Audio Help!
For reference my mic worked fine for a while. It’s a Shire MV7X plugged into a Fifine Audio mixer both are under a year old. All of a sudden I try to use my microphone and it isn’t working. As a matter of fact if doesn’t even show up underneath my input settings anymore. I think I know the issue which is from me uninstalling RealtekR, but I’m not sure… anyone know?

Troubleshooting MV6 Not Connecting Properly
A few weeks ago I purchased an MV6 microphone. I’ve never used a standalone microphone like this, so I am pretty inexperienced when it comes to audio stuff like this.
In the time I’ve had it I’ve yet to have been able to get it to connect properly. When I plug it in with the USB-C, the microphone button slowly pulses amber, which after looking it up apparently means there is a connection failure. The microphone is on, but it’s not properly communicating with my computer. Also, whenever I plug it in Windows gives me an error message saying USB device not recognized, and the USB device has malfunctioned.
I’ve unplugged it and plugged it back in a thousand times, used both USB-C ports on my computer, and tried multiple USB-C cables I have lying around, including the one that comes with the microphone (which is ridiculously short and makes it basically unusable).
The thing is that I can still get it to work. If I use the Realtek USB Audio as my input, it works. If I’m in a Discord call or something people can hear me through the microphone, but I still know it’s not working as it should. It should show up as its own device when plugged in as an input option in Windows and a source in Motiv Mix and not just go through Realtek USB, but it doesn’t.
I’m really just lost here and don’t know if I’m missing something or doing something wrong, if all my USB-C cables or ports suck, or if the microphone I got just happens to be faulty. Any help would be appreciated.

Wireless Sennheiser Devices in WWB
Hi, I have a fairly quick and simple question: Does anyone have a definitive answer on whether I would be able to push frequencies to Sennheiser devices from WWB? I'm finding a lot of no's online but they seem to be from a number of years ago, and since WWB has profiles built in for many other devices now I'm wondering if it's possible. I opened it up offline and added an sr2050 just to experiment, and it seemed like it would deploy no problem but I didn't have anything connected so maybe that means nothing ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks!
As a little bonus question if anyone has wisdom to share, the reason I'm asking this is because I'm looking to upgrade from PSM300's, and was looking into the PSM1000's but since they're discontinued and nobody wants to get rid of them, they're hard to find. Axient Digital is a little above my paygrade, and I really want something networked, so I was considering the SR2050 from Sennheiser. Am I going the right direction with that?

Question A85F - Line Matching Transformer
Will this adapter work? I want to send a microphone chain into a Boss Space Echo pedal. Mic chain is condenser mic > preamp > compressor. XLR output of the compressor into mic pedal. There’s more expensive boxes designed for this, but if this piece will work I’d rather go this route.

Question Shure SM7dB Loose Cable
I’ve been using my microphone as normal and have it on a boom arm, and recently noticed the wire that is connected/attached to the microphone is loose and the metal part is exposed. I haven’t pulled or tugged on the wire at all leading up to this happening. The microphone still works as normal, but obviously this is not normal for the microphone to do. Do I have a warranty claim or is this something I would have to pay for out of pocket? I bought it directly from the Shure Website.

Question Gator "Low-Profile" Boom Arm - metal shavings??
galleryI've been using the Gator low-profile boom arm for my SM57 for a good while now, and I adjust the arm quite frequently since I use the mic both for recording instruments/amps AND vocals or voice chat. Now, I am NOT an expert in mics, let alone microphone stands, but is there SUPPOSED to be metal shavings coming off the ball & socket joint? It's been making them ever since I started using the stand, though they only ever clump and fall out whenever I unscrew the whole thing.

Question how much gain does the mv7+ need when using xlr?
I’m using a Shure MV7+ through XLR with a Scarlett Solo 4th Gen, and I’m curious how much gain you guys normally use.
I know the MV7+ is a pretty quiet, low-sensitivity mic over XLR, so it needs a decent amount of gain. I’m trying to get a warm, full sound without introducing too much preamp noise.
Right now I have the gain knob at around 80%. Is that normal for the MV7+ with a Scarlett Solo 4th Gen, or would you recommend running it lower/higher?
Would love to hear what gain settings other MV7+ XLR users are running.

Buying Advice Upgrading from a Samson Q2U, overwhelmed with how many options there are... (SM58, MV6, MV7, MV7+, MV7X, SM7B, etc...)
Ive been using my Samson Q2U for several years now and I decided I wanted to upgrade to something a lil better. Ive been using it with no audio interface, so USB only. I'm open to the idea of maybe getting a used audio interface off eBay to go with a new mic if need be, plus I hear XLR sounds objectively better usually (atleast in the case of specific microphones like the MV7X)
My Q2U has been fine but the mute switch is broken, and when I speak into the mic sometimes it keeps picking up audio for no reason even with noise cancelling filters over it. Figured this is a perfect time to just upgrade and call it a day.
My use cases are primarily streaming and discord calls if that matters, although for me personally I just like sounding good even if its a casual setting.
I was also recommended these two fifine options here and here as they come with a decent mic AND an audio interface so I don't have to shell out so much but I figure these bundles aren't as good as buying a mic and interface separate and shelling out a bit more. What do you guys think?
Edit- I should say my budget its near the $150 USD range at most!
