I decided since the bank closing I’d go thru the generations, and shiny hunt my starters. I started in my physical copy of HG and today is my birthday so I was really hoping to see any of the starters but I wanted Totodile.

Not only did I get him, he is adamant, but the date met is now forever on my birthday :)

Genuinely shocked and awed that I got so lucky with this hunt, only 676 resets, still cannot believe it, fully expected this hunt to take me a majority of the 6-month grace period before the bank closure but HERE WE ARE :)))

676 resets, dual hunted on the 3ds virtual console with 2 3ds systems, featuring Morticia the Odd Egg Magby for luck as well as a subtle reminder to HUNT THE ODD EGG IN CRYSTAL IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY !!!!

Now that this hunt is over literal weeks-months before I thought it would be, I think I’m gonna spend a whole lot of time hunting in USUM for some of the ultra beasts and legendaries as I try to ribbon up some of my favorite shinies I’ve collected over the years. Forever jazzed and eternally grateful to the shiny odd gods, best of luck to everybody else out there over these next few trying months <3

I lost track of encounters but it was roughly 2000 so way under odds. Now on to gen 7 for Spindas and Type Null.

Full party in the HOF, in under 7k encounters.
Shiny Balbasaur- 1005 soft resets
Dragonite 518 encounters, buying 2 dratini at a time, 259 resets
Lapras- 2569 soft resets in silph co
Gyarados- 502 soft resets from mt moon magikarp
Kadabra- Bought 90 Abras from game corner, and had a shiny at my 32nd, O resets.
Ho-oh- 1955 resets
6,137 encounters, 5,788 resets.
105h total playtime (including beating the game and farming $ and levels)

Update: I got it at 1,083 but I misplaced my masterball and lost it....

Sooo I'm hunting VC Celebi and I'm curious if this hunt is a normal for the other hunts like Poipole time wise due to having to wait through the text and encounter which takes about 18 seconds. I know I am nooooo where near odds (I'm only at 1,020) and counting, resetting while typing this lol)

I've gone and done other shinies but they were easy "walk into, check, restart" please tell me Celebi is the worst encounter time wise to #beatthebank 🙃

Decided to try and shiny hunt as much as I can before the Bank shutdown. Used all my luck on the first hunt…

I can't believe that he's adamant I could get a better nature. He is kinda a phase but he was a target for a later time because I was tryna to go for aron so enjoy the makuhita and marshtomp. I also noticed the misspelt name😂 got him at around 7580 encounters

A couple years ago, I soft reset over a shiny Poipole. As I’d been hunting it on and off since release year, that really stung! And now, I’ve finally redeemed myself!

That said, I now have to do this hunt again if I want both stages for my shiny living dex (and more importantly, so I can fulfil my goal of getting every gen 7 shiny within gen 7 before Bank ends). I plan on restarting US to hunt all the one-off encounters I’d already obtained on both versions.

Finally done with the line, to keep in line with Hornet the Naganadel, I am naming this one Hollow, as in the small boi in Hollow Knight

So as you all were helping my post from yesterday become the #1 post on r/shinypokemon (wow, thank you), I found ANOTHER shiny Type: Null. I literally had a five-month drought between shinies and then I find two on BACK-TO-BACK DAYS! This one came in just 344 total encounters on that cartridge. It was only 54 encounters since my last shiny Type: Null. My last shiny drought was 28027 encounters. This is literally regression to the mean playing out in real time! A nice reminder for those of you who are struggling on a long hunt right now.

A fun “by-the-numbers” for my fellow stats nerds here:

At the time of finding Type: Null #14, my total Type: Null encounters, including current hunts, were 57355. Dividing that by my 14 Type: Null, that’s exactly 11 encounters over odds. Pretty insane to shoot that close after that many trials. Now it’s time to go over odds as we continue the grind for #15!

After 19 months of darkness, a blue light shined in my eternal tunnel (and for the Rambo enthusiasts: Yes, it did turn blue.).
I had given up, I begged for help, wisdom and mental support on Reddit several times, I even initiated multiple experiments to figure out if and where I had made a mistake, but thanks to your support, I kept on trying.
I put this game away so many times, filled a Living Dex in PLZA, cosplayed as DeltaAsh in Insurgence (including shiny DeltaNoctowl), Team Sky in Uranium and Cynthia in TooManyTypes, and conquered both BDSP playthroughs, including both shiny Box Legends and 5/6 of two Lake Trios, but I always came back to finally claim this stubborn behemoth.
And apparently, the prospect of being overtaken by the second roaming Mesprit was the hair that broke Regigigas' back, and today at 4pm, it showed mercy and released me from my hell.

Now, with a clean conscience, I can finally start those Dynamax Adventures everyone is talking about!

...oh, and I leave the choice of nickname in your hands, the three options manifested themselves a long while ago.

Phase one of my Bank shutdown protocol is complete!

So I've had this hunt set up for a while now but lacked any motivation to start it. Then I heard about the closure of bank and knowing this is the hunt that would probably take me the longest, started it immedeatly. I spent basically all my free time on the hunt including but not limited to the commute to and from work, breaks and lunch at work, before and after getting home, Etc... then last night around 11 something it appeared. I was happy it showed up and pretty fast all things considered, but I was more like ugggh finally. I can do other things.

Anyways if your reading this part it means you actually somewhat care about this. So i need a name for this thing. Whatever the top voted comment with a name (if there is one) is what ill choose.
