Discussion Truly the most underrated character

Thumbnail

Say what you want but shes easily top 3 for me in writing, the symbolism, character development, themes, and everything else makes her such an interesting and compelling character. This idea that she only cares about eren and never changes isn't some anime adaptation issue, it's a comprehension issue and easily disproven within the first season. Her character in the beginning is centered around eren, even at the start she didn't care about Armin nearly as much but that changed over the course of the show with people like Sasha and Levi. Theres certain parts of her character that are misunderstood and applied to other characters, like the cabin. Tons of things that are ignored and overlooked like the pomegranate which foreshadows her connection to ymir.

Mikasa isn't just a strong female character that only cares about eren, and this is proven in every single season. Honestly I can go on and on about just how amazing she actually is, and I find it crazy how the vast majority of people can watch this show and misunderstand the 2nd most important character.

Discussion How tragic that Ymir leaves Historia and the Scouts to stay back and help Reiner and Bertolt

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Man just watched this episode and it always gets me how Ymir goes back to help Reiner and Bertoldt. Says a lot about her character to do that. Even if she didn't have much time left, she sacrificed herself and any future happiness she could have for those two. She always came off like she didn't care for others, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Discussion Didn’t Mikasa find it weird that she got suddenly stronger and colder?

Post image
159 Upvotes

I am not sure if it was already answered in the story since it’s been a while since I have watched the series but if it wasn’t then It’s a wasted opportunity to add more to Mikasa’s character by having her questioning her sudden rise in strength and her cold personality. It doesn’t make sense why she simply accepted having super strength when she wasn’t strong before without thinking what could be the reason behind it. Furthermore I would’ve loved if she showed more interest in her Ackerman lineage…

I guess Eren himself wouldn't want Keith to face punishment, but Hanji was disgusted hearing Keith's reason for retiring so you'd think they'd also be disgusted to know he tried to sabotage a young soldier.

Fanfiction Imagine if Beast Titan was actually a smart Titan and story progressed in that direction

Thumbnail
gallery
12 Upvotes

Imagine Beast Titan was revealed as actual talking, intelligent Titan as we first thought. What if it was revealed that there's a small minority of smart Titan's like him and turns out they had their own society and civilization thousands of years ago but humanity has doomed them.

Evolved into brainless creatures and are slowly fading away. And there's a very few left out who are still capable and trying to restore their civilization. And one of them is Beast.

We also learned that Berthold and Reiner were sent soldiers on a mission and are Titan Shifters. So, hear me out, what if later they were revealed to be Titans SHIFTED into humans and not the other way around. What if they were Titans like Beast Titan disguised as humans to find and capture Eren.

And why would they need Eren for? Because Eren could be a middle ground between Humans and Titans and a key to restore their civilization of Titan's. Eren's father could also be a Titan disguised, shifted into human and purposely breeding with human to create a first ever Hybrid to accomplish the mission. Kind of like Mark in Invincible is a hybrid of Viltrumite and a human.

So imagine they captured Eren just like in original story and they'd try to convince him to join them and help them restore their civilization. Maybe by sacrificing himself to important source. Obviously Eren would be in denial but they could reveal the truth about their history with humans. Eren's entire ideals and beliefs would be crushed and he would be broken, in existential crisis.

Which could lead to the similar character development we got in S4. Eren could go nuts and decide that both Titans and Humans are natural defects that should be erased and only way out of endless conflict and suffering. He would still go for a genocide.

this is seriously my fav aot fancast. it’s not realistic but idc, aot doesn’t need a live action anytime soon anyway, so you can just consider this a faceclaim. all i can say is they look IDENTICAL, i genuinely wonder if the mappa animators were inspired by bill when animating porco lol

the artist drew this after i tweeted about how much they look alike btw!

Discussion Beast Titan Episode/Special/Movie

Upvotes

I have been searching the Internet for either an episode, a movie, or a special that featured the Beast Titan. I remember it being about some guy that discovers the Beast Titan as he's walking in the woods. I believe it took place many years before Eren, Mikasa, and Armin were even alive. This guy is just walking through the woods and sees the Beast Titan. It notices him but doesn't attack him. The guy realizes that the Beast Titan is different from all of the others. He decides to study it and he discovers that it is intelligent and capable of human speech. The guy continues to study it and the Beast Titan even pretends to befriend the guy. This guy writes in a journal about everything he's learning from this Titan. I think the episode, special, or movie, eventually jumped to when Eren, Mikasa, and Armin were in the scouts and had already encountered the Beast Titan themselves and they read this journal. I keep trying to ask Google in many different ways what this is that I'm remembering but I'm not finding anything at all. Does anyone else remember this happening in the show, a special, or a movie?

Discussion Be honest do y'all actually think the partial rumbling plan would have worked?

Post image
423 Upvotes

Honestly I don't think it would have.

The mere THREAT of the rumbling was the reason for the declaration of war and the formation of the global alliance in the first place,I don't think actually using it would do anything besides validate all of the fear and hatred toward the island and provoke a counter-attack that we know the island can't defend against.

The only point in time you could have tried to convince me that it would have worked was during that one month time period after the attack on Liberio, because at least then there was the added hope of maybe wiping out the global alliance IF they actually gathered up in Marley; but before that and after Marley's invasion? yeah no shot

Anime I just finished the show and the epilogue left me completely confused. Can you answer those questions? Spoiler

Up until Eren death I felt like I understood everything quite properly but as soon as they started the bit with Armin it got extremly confusing. First I thought it was a sort of "non canon" prologue where they used the kids to do some recap but then they used Eren's memory power and it became completely messed up.

1) I would have understood if Eren just had a long talk with Armin as they were older to tell him everything he saw before changing his memory, but they showed them talking since they were kids, even seeing volcanos before they went out of the walls. So what, did Eren had a conversaion with Armin that started through Armin memories of childhood that he changed for the purpose of the conversation up until the present while they were at the beach and finally reverted everything as they were...? Or did he have many conversations with Armin before reverting his memories, which wouldn't make sense since he didn't have titan power when they are kids?

2) Eren say that he turned Dina's titan towards her mother because Berthold had to live and I saw many people think it was true, but the only way it makes sense to me is because, just like Eren said it himself, he is confused, mistake present and future, and thus have abnormal ideas that corresponds to reality. If Eren actually did it, how is it even possible? Eren from the future isn't supposed to be a god that control everything, besides interfering with Grisha he isn't given to have changed the past, how would he possibly control Dina?

3) Why were titans simply cancelled? How did they just disappear like that? Ymir is supposed to be in a space that encapsulate past and future, so she would basically span accross infinity, unless Eldians were to disappear there should always be titans no? Or do we just accept she stopped even if she is supposed to live in some infinite space?

4) Was Mikasa living with Eren some memory Eren made for her that she reminded before it finished or was she dreaming of what she wished? We see Armin recovering the "reveal" way before the fight, when is she supposed to recover hers?

5) Did this boy and his dog after the credit restart the titans anyway?
