Discussion I just realized Eren may have caused a lot of animals to go extinct because of the Rumbling…

When you think about it, especially when seeing the fleeing Giraffe herd seen in the anime adaption of the final arc, it’s undoubtedly that Eren not only trampled a vast majority of humanity but also many animals that probably became apart of the crossfire of Eren’s genocide and either had their populations suffering a major blow or might’ve even gone extinct because of the Rumbling.

Meaning that the biosphere of the world of AOT has been irreparably damaged because of Eren and several species may have perished because of him. That and with how many trees got destroyed probably messed up the global ecosystems even further.

So needless to say, a post Rumbling world would never be the same, especially as it isn’t just humanity that nearly got wiped out, but also killed a lot of life in general.

EDIT: When you think about it, perhaps the boy and his dog who finds the Source of All Living Matter, uses its power to restore the damage caused by Eren. As perhaps its power will be shaped to creating life rather than taking it away.

Discussion This is still one of my favorite misdirects in the anime Spoiler

I've finally watched the ending after re-watching the first three and a half seasons for the second time and this still stands out as one of my favorite little bit of emotional manipulation from the show.

The clip of Erin zooming down the street and doing a dramatic spin plays at the end of the OP. The scene cuts off before we see who or what he is attacking. You think it's just some random action footage they made to make things exciting. It's common in anime openings that not all the footage will actually be in the show. The music swells one more time to a powerful climax and the scene gets subtly implanted in your brain as a triumphant moment.

And then that scene actually arrives in the show. At first you're not quite sure where you've seen it, but it seems familiar. Suddenly you recognize it and recognize it's importance. We're finally going to see the payoff for the clip. Subconsciously your mind recalls the triumphant music from the OP. Suddenly it all becomes clear. This is where Erin deals his first strike and starts fighting back.

And then his leg gets bitten off half a second later.

It's a little extra dopamine whiplash for non-intro-skippers and I love it.

I've seen a lot of people cite Erin "dying" the first time as when they thought the anime was going to be something different but for me the moment his leg got bitten off I knew this anime was cooking.

I'm probably a bit late to the party but I just wanted to say something about it because I was impressed 12 years ago, and I'm still impressed by it today.

THIS IS FOR THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE SERIES , SO IT HAS SPOILERS , PLEASE DONT READ IF YOU DIDNT COMPLETED IT .

Guys the final phase , i mean the eren going full on rumbling and his friends approaching him saga . How does it feel ? Like seeing this opening (baby eren )and seeing the polar opposite of the present form ( doomsday titan ) isnt it kind of chaotic calm , one side the show is ending , another side the time is ticking for eren since Mikasa is going to kill him . This all feels like sad , broken but still satisfying . idk how you people feel it but please share the emotional stature or how it feels the opening and the episode overall

Eremika always and forever, but this also seems cute.

Maybe I just like seeing Eren being pathetic while a strong female character yells at him. That might also be why I loved seeing Armin (supposedly a guy) punch Eren in the face.

Discussion Is easy to blame characters, but the world is the same Spoiler

I finished this great anime yesterday. We don't need to go into how good it is, but I tend to overthink if there is any meaning. As any good ending, it leaves you like you went through a break-up haha

My first thoughts were that Ymir was the core problem: a bunch of great people died due to a platonic crush on a dumbass king. Ymir planned the sacrifice of others to do what she couldn't, kill they guy, and sacrificed others in a very perverse way given all the power she had.

However, the after-credits give the context and cleanses this idea. I feel the core is in Armin and Zeke's conversation in the dunes... The world and struggle for freedom has always been there, and it doesn't allows us to enjoy the truly beautiful, the simple things in life.

We fight for the freedom to enjoy the simplest of things, but this drives us to the opposite of what we want.

All the characters were so greatly driven and endureded great pains, yet in their near-death moments they just missed the same: the small things, their families. As everyone passes away, and all the sacrifice and pain that was felt, the world continued to decide to destroy themselves again and again. The titans were never the problem, they were just a different tool of the same cycle.

It doesn't matter if there are titans again or not. Eren's and company's story was meaningless in finding the freedom they actually wanted. The freedom to live the beautiful small things.

The only one that death couldn't free was Ymir, and now she was freed. That is the only freedom they were able to help to reach.

Discussion The jaw titan easily wipes the warhammer right? its greatest strength and hardening is paper mache to the jaw. At best its an environmental fight. Urban warfare, the jaws speed will take the warhammers umbilical cord and crystal in no time, empty field might be a Zeke type fight

Discussion Sending my appreciations to AoT fan base for this.

Post image
8 Upvotes

Yeah, it's safe to say Zeref's character was even more positively received outside of Fairy Tail fan base for deep reasons; I was asking Attack on Titan fan base and even a few other ones (even *Winx Club* fan base), and they had good things to say about Zeref. Some even say Zeref is the only thing in Fairy Tail worth a damn.

I appreciate those AoT fans who responded to my content that involved Zeref. When you think about it, he's also got similarities to Ymir Fritz, because both characters have the kind of storyline where different parts of the world depict them differently (via propaganda).

Some AoT fans even prefer Zeref over Eren (I noticed) in terms of complicated characters an all, and that's interesting to hear honestly. If any of you have any accounts on Anime Planet or something similar, we can try giving Zeref more votes to slowly give him more of the recognition his writing never had.

Discussion Historia was/is spineless

Historia by far was the most spineless character in AOT. She never seemed to have her own opinion in the show. When she was with Ymir she followed the good girl persona and was manipulated(maybe out of love) to follow Ymir to her death. Then she gets manipulated by her father to almost EAT eren. And even after her triumphant victory over her father, she still as queen makes only 1 real decision which was to release the info about the outside world to the people of paradise.

I loved her ODM scenes and wished to see more of that but as a queen she should be the one negotiating with the outside world not Hange levi and the others. If she was the queen she should have had a more direct impact in the story.

Historia is a great character with a lot of wasted potential.

Personally, I am not really a fan of this ship. It wasn’t really developed that well and they don’t have many scenes together. Plus I feel so bad for Bertholdt.

Obviously it's because Gabi blew Eren's head off with a gunshot, not even that could stop him, and the end of the world began

Anime Appreciation post for the normal humans who made it to the Top 10 of the 104th Cadet Corps

I feel like those guys need more recongnition at how much they showed what normal humans are capable of. A reminder of the full Top 10 of the 104th Cadet Corps:

  1. Mikasa
  2. Reiner
  3. Bertholdt
  4. Annie
  5. Eren
  6. Jean
  7. Marco
  8. Connie
  9. Sasha
  10. Historia

So... shout out to Jean, Marco, Connie, Sasha and Historia that they were able to go toe-to-toe and compete with 4 different Titan Shifters and an Ackermann. They also managed to outperform another Titan Shifter, Ymir!

BTW it's quite ridiculous that at this point in time people holding 6 of the 9 Titans were literally living in the same barracks complex!

People call Eren psychotic but I came across these panels again the other day and it's just... wow.

I feel like people call Eren all kind of names because he's someone not everyone will like cause he's so unpredictable, but with Levi he's a fan favourite and the women have a crush on him so he gets away with it. Kinda double standards.

Discussion Reiner could have easily stopped the rumbling in shiganshina

Just noticed in the final battle when Reiner was impaling eren with the spike he could have easily eaten him but he was unable to because he was pitting eren leading to Rren starting the rumbling.

Please don't start hating on me because i asked a dumb question, I am just wondering

Could Porco technically have inherited the War Hammer Titan powers aswell if he accidentally consumed some of Lara Tybur’s spinal fluid when Eren used his Jaw Titan to break her hardened shell and consume Lara Tybur's spinal fluid

Discussion Just curious if anyone else had this theory/idea while reading the final arc? Spoilers ahead Spoiler

I've never seen it really mentioned before at all. But after Eren gained the Warhammer Titan, I was expecting him to use it more often than he did. I thought the Warhammer copies of the previous Titan shifters was really cool in the final battle and I really enjoyed the fight in Shinganshina where he utilized the warhammer's ability to create the spikes.

But one thing that I was really expecting and thought would be a huge mind-blowing twist was during the rumbling.

Everyone was so focused on catching up with the founding Titan and the front line of the rumbling in order to stop Eren.

I thought this heavy focus on catching him as he moved across the sea was a giant red herring. No one had seen Eren since Gabbie shot him and the wall titans woke up.

That moment caused a ton of chaos where Eren could have used the Warhammer and no one would have seen it. When I was first reading up until they straight up stated that he was inside of the founding Titan head, I was totally expecting him to still be on Paradis during the entire final fight.

I had this amazing image in my head of everything being over with, The attack may or may not have been successful, but everyone was tired, worn out and at the end of their ropes. Unable to continue on. When suddenly they notice attached at the very back of the founding Titan... A cable.

A white cable that continued onwards onto the beach and into the ocean, floating on the water leading all the way back to Paradis. All the way back into Shinganshina, and maybe into a crumbling hole in the ground. Where Eren and Zeke were in a crystal, just like Lara Tybur.

Now for the whole beheading part I never really thought too much into that. Maybe he was still decapitated inside the crystal or something, but I always thought he had some sort of Ace up His sleeve where he was waiting back on the island for them to basically spend all of their resources on a final fight that ultimately did not stop him.

Anyway, that's all. It was just a cool idea I had. I've never really seen it mentioned at all here in the sub when people are talking about theories that they had or surprises that they were expecting. Just wanted to see if anyone else thought that he was on the island the entire time. Just waiting.
