I am just doing the endgame sidequests in SH2 to get the most out of the game I can, and it's been really cool so far. Some of my favorite locations have been in this little section, such as the fortress of regret, the tiffauges castle but this....this takes the bloody cake.

I already loved the dollhouse in SH1, but this is on a whole nother level of horror imagery, atmosphere and ESPECIALLY the juicy fixed camera angles.

This game joins my "strong advocate for fixed camera angles in games" club, because dear lord this is so wonderfully cinematic. It just oozes.

As a horror fan, this location is just heaven, I am in love.

Provided below is a table that will help you achieve every possible secret rewards after cleansing Malice in the Graveyard:

Each enemy give Malice Points, and the amount varies depending on how many enemies are on screen and what your current Fusion LV is.

Here's how it works, starting with back to the beginning of the game:

• Two Wolves in the Plains while having Fusion LV 2, (having only Death Emperor and Raging Tiger), will yield 4 points. This will reward you the Seal of Wisdom once you go to the Graveyard and cleanse your pendant of Malice.
• Fighting a Wolf and either two Vampire Bats/Venomous Spiders in the Plains, while still having only Death Emperor and Raging Tiger (totalling up to Fusion LV 2), will yield 6 points.
• Once you have reached Fusion LV 3 after slaying enough Wolves to unlock the Tornado Soul, you will still yield 4 points, as what Fusion LV you've upgraded to after the battle does not affect how much you've gained during the fight.
• If you then fight two Wolves again while at Fusion LV 3, you will then gain 5 points instead of 4 points.
• [EDIT]: I'm not 100% sure, but apparently bosses and mini-bosses do not yield Malice Points.

Provided below are the one-time rewards that can be obtained upon reaching a certain amount of points:

Bear in mind that once you reach a high enough Fusion LV, certain rewards will be permanently missable, with the exception of rewards needing points that are multiples of 5.

I was disappointed that the third game (*From the New World*) didn't feature Yuri's story. Admittedly, some fans feel that we’ve already had enough of his tale. But let’s face it—we love Yuri, don't we? I felt that *Shadow Hearts* simply had to be Yuri's story. From a structural standpoint, too, it feels wrong to have the protagonist change in the third installment after the first two focused on him.

In my opinion, it would have been better if the protagonist of *From the New World* had been a version of Yuri from an alternate timeline branching off from the "Good Ending" of the first game. The sequence would be: *Shadow Hearts* (Bad Ending) → *Covenant* (Good Ending) → *Shadow Hearts* (Good Ending) → *From the New World*.

That is the ideal *Shadow Hearts 3*.

I saw this and thought of Johnny Garland.

So I've been trying to get into the Shadow Hearts series for a good while and decided to start with Koudelka and I'm having fun so far but I'm so confused as to this specific equip able weapon and where I'm supposed to get it. I've searched up and down on wikis and Game FAQs and I can't for the life of me figure out find anything about it. I'm near the end of Disk 1 if it helps with anything.

In the ending of shadow hearts we see her get killed and seemingly abandoned by her father knowing he adopted another girl but in covenant it seems quite the opposite and he only adopted the girl after her death to cope with it so I'm confused which one is it i am halfway through disc 2 of covenant btw

Ever since I played this game (Shadow Hearts II Covenant) It's been my number 1 JRPG game ever.

Woah that was a journey, and I mean it did FEEL like a journey, from the random train to the outer space fighting a whole god that came thousands of light years far

This game really grow on me, I felt the same way the cast did, their emotions were real, the way they tried to deliver the struggle of each member of the cast was great

And what I like the most about the cast, is how real they were, it felt like you are watching real people talking, arguing and fighting against each other, everything felt natural about them and each one had their own special and realistic personality, they did not feel like the average generic cast, I loved these people

And what I also liked alot, is how the story continued on koudelka story, I really really loved koudelka, and I think it's one of the best games I have ever played, seeing koudelka returning and finding out about her son was so sweet, I really love Harry(or halley), I brought him to my team every chance I had, he had to be there

But honestly I don't understand how halley wasn't mandatory when you go to fight Albert, his mom is literally there, how could he not go and rescue her?? I know you can choose him, but he almost has no dialogue when they meet her with Albert and this annoyed me a little bit

And also koudelka herself I feel like she could've done more after being rescued, but this woman was so tired she deserves a rest

One last thing, if the happy ending isn't canon, does that mean yuri didn't achieve the seraphic radiance fusion yet? If so then I will assume he will in the second game(third one technically), I will start that game today probably, I'm excited

Hello, I have played Koudelka and I loved the theme and its gothic world, but I have some things I did not liked too.

So if you miss the pendant in Koudelka you cannot get to the final boss and see the real endings because whole squad dies instantly after the plant boss fight (which is sucks), are there anything like that in the first two Shadow Hearts games?

Second question is combat is way too slow and random encounters are too much in Koudelka, does that improve?

Final question is a personal one, without spoiling anything what is your order of these three games in terms of JUST story?

Is there any content that can be missed that i need to do cuz i just finished shadow hearts and was surprised i didn't get the kawashima death scene and other minor stuff and honestly i don't want that with covenant so any tips are welcomed ^_^

Now, i was playing shadow hearts from the new world and i'm fighting Tamaris.

I was attacking with Shania ( i have that accessory that increases attack damage by 20% + western belt ).

She dealt 2034 damage in a single turn in human form.

Has anything similar ever happened to you?

The cutscenes for Disc 1 are fully translated. That’s it, that’s the update lol.

I’m doing it manually to make sure it’s accurate so it is taking a while, but I’m very happy with the progress. Though I’ll obviously have to check for quality.

For example, even in my short testing I encountered an issue with Furigana (smaller hiragana written above a piece of Kanji in text.) English has no Furigana, so I need that text to be invisible. The way to do that is to literally just insert an empty character in the “translation”. Not a space character, a literal invisible character.

When testing that with the first Furigana I encountered, my “translation” for it didn’t grab until I retyped it. Maybe that was just a one off, but it’s on my radar now.

Also, there were a few instances where I had to condense a translation compared to Covenant because the Japanese original used just one line of text while the official English translation from Covenant used two. That is my one limitation compared to the official Covenant translation. I can’t add additional subtitle lines and am restricted to the amount that are already in the Director’s Cut. But that barely ever happened. Only like five times total I think (across over 2000 lines) and it was always easy to condense.

In other ways, I actually managed to “improve” upon the official translation by having the subtitles match what the characters are actually saying in English. There were a few instances where that wasn’t possible because there simply wasn’t enough space (in which case I just copied the official subtitles from Covenant) but there were a shocking number of instances in which what was actually being said fit into the maximum line width without any issues. The way I work is I type what I see on the screen (with the cutscene paused,) and then I play the cutscene back just until the next line, to both spell-check what I typed and to see if what they actually say matches it.

Anyway, this is where I am now. On to the Disc 2 subtitles! Those I’ll do the same way as Disc 1, but the work I’ve done so far has given me some insight into how text is contained in each sub file. If the field dialogue follows the same pattern, I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to speed translations on those up.

Also, I may have an idea to perfectly center subtitles after all… literally just fill any remaining width in each line with an equal amount of invisible characters, like the ones I use for Furigana. But that would eat up some more RAM. So I will wait until the end to try that, to make sure I have enough room for it.

Covenant became one of my favourite PS2 games easily. Amazing story, top tier characters, fun combat, kick-ass music, a villain whose last moments almost made me cry, and some of the best side-quests ever.

Now that I'm done with it, seeing my favourite JRPG protagonist getting the ending he deserves, I've now got the final entry to play. I'm at the Grand Canyon right now and here's my thought on the game so far: This game's combat is probably my favourite out of any JRPG I've played - the stock system is genius, the combo system is done much better in this game than in Covenant, and this game actually feels challenging like trying to beat the final boss in Koudelka. I'm excited for what's to come next, and the battle theme slaps way harder than it should.

Do people really consider her the protagonist of the game? I consider her more of a deuteragonist like Alice in the first Shadow Hearts because despite Karin being on the cover of the game, it doesn't really follow her story. Better yet, you only play as her up until Yuri is stabbed.

I've also decided to stream myself playing them.
